COD4 in WWII. Pretty much sums it up.

 

what setting are you guys running it at?
what can i run it at with a 9500m gs? (im still downloading)

 

Hey I just played it for like 90 minutes and it's king of fun... I liked it. Maybe it's gonna be on my Christmas list after all

 

Well, my desktop defaulted to 1024x768 auto textures and 4x AA. I didn't mess with anything for fear I would be kicked before I got to play. It ran so-so and would prolly run well without the AA and even at a higher res with good textures. I mean the game looks like a MOD pack for COD4 so it should run about the same though I think some textures have been advanced a bit. It was on a 8800gt by the way. I'll try it on my 9500gs lappy today as well.

 

Alber, did you play COD4 at all?

I got it installed but it won't create player. Just sits there.

 

server authentication failure came back, played all night last night without a hitch but now when i try go into a server, same thing

 

i just cant seem to get a stable 60fps on this game. if i lower the settings my fps goes with it.

 

What ?? I don't see your point .. I played a lot of COD4 and both first COD.. What do you mean ??

 

You know I'm having the same issue but gave up because I figured it wasn't worth it with all the other problems. Wonder if it's the same sort of issue mentioned in the FC2 thread over DX10?

 

Because you said it was the king of fun. Did you think 4 was the king as well because they seem to be identical games with slight differences. I'm trying to prove to myself that I must be missing something.

 

I think It's kind of fun to play the COD4 engine in WWII with some classic COD weapon.. But, I don't think they should sell this 60$.. It's like a MOD

Can't really judge a game based solely on it's multiplayer.

We forgetting this game has a full CooP storymode? And Coop Zombie mode?
Though I'm sure around that time L4D will be taking up all my zombie killing time

 

Yea im really interested in the coop mode especially the zombie one, but when left4dead comes out no one is going to care...

 

The game runs like crap compared to COD4, on my 8600M (ddr3)

On COD4, I could play multip-player at 1440x900 and get average 50-60fps (shadows and eye-candy off, no AA).

On WAW, I have everything turned off, 1024x768, and its STILL playing like crap 10-20FPS.

Its the same engine so it can't be a driver issue. Definitely won't be buying it.

Mine is running AWESOME. I mean awesome. 1600 x 900, 4x AA, Everything on MAX and a stable 25fps. On 9700M GT. On 1920 x 1080, 0 x AA Everything on High its the same fps.

IS it me or is PC COD way harder than PS3 cod4? I owned at cod4, but i suck at this. All the guns feel so bad, aiming feels off. I might get this for PS3....

 

25 fps? thats not very good for an online fps. your ps3 is playing cod 4 at 60 fps thats probably why you cant aim that well on your laptop.

 

it's probably the drivers. playing mine on 1280*800, aniso and 2x aa. runs decent (not sure about fps though).

 

The PS3 and Xbox360 versions of COD4 are locked at 1280x720 60Hz with a 30FPS cap.

Even with the console versions only getting 30FPS, it is much less noticable because the framerate does not fluxuate, much like HD movies that only run in 24FPS yet you never notice because it's locked and never goes above or below that number.

Some games on the consoles were unlocked, such as GTA 4, but in that game the framerate was all over the place, and the aimer slowed and sped up coinciding with the framerate.

try putting your average framerate your max framerate with com_maxfps 30 or whatever your average framerate is. It would keep the mouse at a steady rate, and most likely be alot easier to aim.

 

This is how to explain framerates and why it's important in gaming with choppiness and slowdown. Not that you need the latest and greatest card but if they could make software that'll hold steady at 30 or even 60 fps without dipping below.

actually cod 4 is one of the few console games that run at 60fps but i think it runs at 1024x768.

Well, try to look for punkbuster free games. I was having the problem all day and I think someone else in this thread mentioned punkbuster. Gave it a try and it worked for the rest of the day.

 

Just do this in the console? And are these types of commands listed either in game documentation or anywhere else? And does it work with most games?

 

Sever Authenification Failure

This is how I "fixed" it (not really but it works )

1. Start up COD5
2. Find Severs
3. DO NOT click refresh server list (refesh = Sever Authenification Failure)
4. Join game hoping there is people in it
5. Have fun (if you can... )

So even when playing in HC (Hardcore mode) it still takes like 3-4 shots to kill someone with a rilfe + stopping power? COD 4 was so much easier...I might buying depending what guns you get to use. Maps are Ok but a bit small.

 

Yes, in the console. All game engines will have different Cvars for doing this.

Such as in Source engine games, (Hl2, CS:S, DOD:S, the upcoming L4D etc.) use fps_max "number here" There are advanced documentations written about these but they are hard to find in most cases. Tweakguides.com usually has alot of useful Cvars for games, and/or links to find cvars for games.

 

so i just got it and played it, it seems more like a WW2 mod for Cod 4 than a acutal seperate series

 

anyone getting a black screen when you first start it up (no sounds), then it errors out? I found a few other poeple online having the same problem but so far no fix for it.

Thanks unknown. Halo, try to play on servers that don't require punkbuster. Quite a few of them are popping up for this reason I believe.

 

Does the zombie mode have to be CoOp?

 

I can't even start the game. It gives me a missing file error. :/

hey, guys, let's create our own server and play each other! i can't even find a server where i'd be able to shoot using an in-game crosshair. all the other *******s have been playing for too long now and have kick-*** weapons as well.

 

Its so frustrating playing such short games! Just as the game starts getting good...it ends...

 

If you've tried the directx9 fix and it won't work, another fix i've found is to go into your audio manager and set your default format to 24 bits, 44100hz. If this does not work set your default format lower. This has worked for a few other people in this thread (i've posted these fixes before), and there is a thread about this on the COD website.

first, we have to create a server name (like NBR or something). I know, nobody can have a server running 24/7, so we could make a time here when we all meet and play. Password protected? i dunno, it's up to you. Who else is down?
