Hi! I am one random NBR member.
On a serious note, I'm just waiting for a few reviews to come out. I'll probably end up buying it anyway, but I'll just wait and see. (Besides, paycheck comes on the 15th) -
£39.99 on steam and £39.99 for pre order in the shops at the moment.
BUT if its anything like mw2 tescos and sainsburys will be selling it at £25 on release day.
got mine from steam in the end as its now pre loaded and ready to go. i never want to go through the hassle again like mw2 on release day. 7 hours and still not downloaded. at least they are letting you pre load this time as theve learnt their mistakes with steam and servers crashing.
roll on tuesday -
I haven't paid full price for a game since COD4 back in 2007 (when it was only $50 for a new game), but I'm highly considering getting this on the first day for the full $60...definitely gonna wait for the reviews to come in first tho
-
Well christmas is coming so who knows we'll see at least a 25% off the game
It's only a month and a half away
-
i bet you wont.
mw2 didnt drop price on steam until the summer this year and that was only for a weekend special so i cant see them dropping it in a month for christmas. -
Doesn't hurt to hope
It will hurt when the hope shatters with no-discount though -
. I think I'm going to flip a coin, lol.

which side of the coin won?

What is Pre-Load exactly?
-
It's basically downloading and installing it but have the game unable to be launched since it hasn't been officially released yet. By the time of release, you'll have to run it and it'll "unlock" the files so you can play without the need of downloading it since you have already done so
-

Oooh, doesn't seem like it's worth the extra $30 though...
-
No game is worth paying extra just so that you're able to download it earlier than most people but still can't play it
-
I wonder if someone could "mod" it to work so you could play through the single player , im sure showing up on the MP servers would be a clear indication of you being on illigally so thats ruled out.

-

-
Should be able to on all low or something
-
Caved and bought it from d2d, $15 off was too good to pass on. Didn't even bother reading much about it,
is it a steamworks game? Or will I be able to link it with steam, anyway?
-
-
-
just bought it from D2D.
-
) and I've decided to pre-order off D2D (for PC obviously). IMO I've seen this game as being the same since COD4, yet every year I've bought one format or another of the game (PS3-COD4, PC-COD:WAW, PS3-COD:MW2). This has been elevated to some sort of guilty pleasure of mine, because I can't understand why I keep buying essentially the same game year after year
(me and millions of other people). Despite all that, I see this game selling bucket loads and you gotta give it up to Activision, Infinity Ward, & Treyarch for capitalizing fully on this series. The main thing that really pushed me on this one is those wager matches (and D2D price), they just sound and look fun. And don't ignore the fact that those matches are based on a gambling mechanism.... and then you see they're just making this game much more addicting with every yearly release. Jeez...I'm out of words. Regardless, whatever you guys do, do/buy what makes you happy (I'm sure you don't need me telling you that) and remember it's also just a game. Laterz.
Edit: Upon pre-ordering from D2D, I found out that you can also pre-load the game. -
and it has dedicated servers

Everybody lining up for tubes and campers? I am going to wait a bit to hear the verdict on this one. I bought MOH thinking it was going to get better and it was not a good decision. If I had it over I wouldn't have purchased it.
Black Ops - you better not be a tube fest. Otherwise no sale from me. I don't care how many kids are lined up to buy you at midnight.
Any beta players want to chime in?
Take Care, Stevenx -
beta players are signed to secrecy until midnight. the designers own their souls until then.

what da hell i just bought box version when i try to install steam says i can't install because game is not yet release.damn.....i though i'm the first one to play black ops...but......
-
Watch as you won't be able to play by the exact time the game gets released due to server overload
-
as far as i know if you buy from steam you can pre load but box version has to wait for the game to go live at midnight before you can load it.
not sure if its a worldwide activation of the game at midnight or just able to buy from shops at midnight. -
Seeming that it's steam, it's also possible that they'll delay the release an hour or two
-
how about the timing? i'm from hong kong. just 4:45 min left to mid. do you think they allow me to play.
-
Not exactly sure about the timing but it'll be released in... 20 hours 7 minutes here in the UK
Go to steam store and go look at Call of Duty Black Ops store page. It'll tell you how long until it unlocks are your region usually. -
^^ yup,if you go to the official black ops page it has a clock in the top left. if it says 4 hours blah blah minutes then thats when it should be activated for you to play if you pre ordered on steam or load if youve got the disk.
let us know in 4 hours.
we will be very jellous here in the uk. -
Official statement from steam, it seems Australia and some Pacific regions can play the game now on RETAIL releases. So those who bought from steam have to wait, like me. T_T
Source: Steam -
hey when i go to official web count down time is 2hrs 50 min....i'll let you guys know after 2:50...

^This. Also, Danger Close (the perk that gave increased damage and radius to explosives) is gone as well.
