I get the key 8 am tuesday morning from D2D.

Lol at call of duty black ops countdown timer:
-
Wow they can't even do the timer properly
It's shown as 7 hours 46minutes for me though steam says 15 hours -
if it's all negative, does that mean I can get it now?
-
Thats what I thought as well, still a no go on steam. Guess the timer is rigged so that if it reaches by 12 midnight it should go 0:0:0. But since its already 12 Midnight Nov 9 here in my country, guess its haywire, still counting down for the US. 5 hours to go on steam
-
it's 12:13 am 11-09-10 no luck....steam still showing the message not yet release.
-
Seems that the UK will get it at about... 7-8am tomorrow
Limp, check the steam store and see if it's already released or not. They follow that timer so it doesn't really release exactly by midnight. -
Found one early REVIEW about the game. I've never heard of this review site before, but for those itching for some sort of an "opinion" on the game check it out. I'm sure you'll see all the big rollers (IGN, Gamespot, Eurogamers, and the like) throwing out their reviews very early tomorrow morning when the embargo ends.
EDIT: OOPS sorry they literally just took it off. I can promise you that this this thing was up just 1 minute ago. I have the review currently loaded in my browser as I write this. WOW (Treyarch police on their game)... I'm pretty sure it's against the rules (some rule) for me to copy and paste it on here so, I guess everyone will just have to wait. Though I will tell you that this review gave it a 9.6, saying the story will keep players "interested and intrigued." -
no rule says you can't summarize their opinion.
-
-
I can't wait to get this game, I have really enjoyed the COD series especially multi-player mode!
-
Yeah, I'm pumped. I may even ditch my calculus lecture tomorrow to play
-
I can't skip class or work, and i can't play during my three hour break in between the two! have to wait until night time...
-
oh well, 2,089 read the review before it was removed.
so official site says 6 hours 53 minutes to go. and steam says unlock in aprox. 14 hours.
as the shops are opening at midnight in the uk i wonder if the disk will activate before steam even though the activation of the disk has to go through steam to load. -
I'll be sure to pop a few heads for you, if it makes you feel any better. -

Ok so summary of the review I linked to above (that was taken off as I linked it):
This was a console review. They mainly talked about the single player, but there were some small sections about the multiplayer and the zombie section. Firstly, they said the story was well done, and compared it to one of Jack Bauer's 24 episodes but with more of 60's look and with a platoon. As I said in the last post, they said the storyline would keep players "interested and intrigued" beyond the same old emptying clips into the antagonists (which is the same and will always be the same in all FPSs) The voice cast for the game is top notch with the likes of Sam Worthington (the guy from Avatar), Ed Harris, and Gary Oldman. They said the campaign was roughly about 25-30 percent longer than MW2's campaign, so I don't know where that would put it. So if we say MW2's single player story was 8 hrs (which might be generous), this one will probably be topping 10 hrs, if my calculations serve me right. Then that's not even factoring in the endless (to me anyways) multiplayer, and the popular zombie play. Haha, the site just automatically reloaded the review on me LOOOL, though thankfully I read it already.
They then went on to talk about the graphics of the game, saying it was stunning and very detailed. They even went as far as comparing it visually to Uncharted 2's landscape which was a surprise to me because we all know that the Uncharted series are good looking games. The game must look pretty good then. Though they did say that the game has a few frame drops here and there that were noticable, but it didn't spoil the experience.
Then they talked about the multiplayer, saying that it was very robust, with a lot of customization. I believe (since I can't refer to it anymore) they called it the best customization in any FPS that they had ever played. The Create a class is good, allowing you to change reticules and such, and really make your guy/loadout unique. They also said the multiplayer looked just as stunning as the single player, so no degraded graphics or anything.
Then they talked a little about the zombie mode. If I remember right they said the objective was to restore power to a building or something while you were being bombarded by zombies (didn't read that part too closely, sorry). All in all, they praised Treyarch for doing a good job, and finally stepping out into their own with a unique enough game, in its own right. Treyarch is no longer that "neglected little brother that is always a little too short or a little too slow." Score- 9.6. They even regretted the high 9.8 they gave MW2 in their past review, saying that in retrospect they would have given it a 9.2. Lol. It was a good read, especially as I'm looking forward to this one and have it preordered. Hope my summary helps and does the review any justice.
EDIT: Oh and then they also mentioned the AI. They said that they ranged from very stupid to like super soldiers. The super soldiers would soak up bullets like a towel and the stupid would just stand there begging to be hit. So the AI might be a little dodgy at times and at cetain settings, but I think they seemed to say that they were workable. We shall see. -
Thank you very much E.D.U. =)
-
confirmed for the uk only. asda are selling from midnight for £4.97 with an exchange of a old top 10 game. now thats some deal especially if youve already finished the game.

Yeah Steam Is Decrypting It Now :d

Even once Steam unlocks Ops, its going to be a nice delay while the pre-load decrypts... As for time, suggest going with what is shown on the store page - seems to be how Steam handles it these days. MOH was the same - retail brick and mortar purchases were playing before Steam users.
Pre-purchase Call of Duty: Black Ops on Steam
For the west coast of the US - the store page currently shows:

Wow, I guess they unlocked it here in the Philippines first too, 5 hours ago. Been playing SP since then, very nice graphics and voice acting, damn, got to get to class, can't wait to continue playing!
-
Seems that the game is set to be released by 7am for respective regions

I don't get what all the fuss is about omg gotta wait one whole day if even that....
-
Its not really a big deal - just seems like more and more of a trend with Steam. At least with the last couple of titles I have purchased via Steam.
You would think Steam would want to work this right - its a great selling point. -
Wasn't there also a issue before with games that link to steam accounts and they couldn't be played till the official release date?
-
-
In any event, anyone else had odd updates to the preload? Tonight I had one and yesterday as well - this was after the initial complete download of the pre-load. Its updated twice. Odd. -
-
LOL - figures. Thanks for that - I didn't even notice it in my Games list.
-
Is it just me or do all steam games now comes with major fragmentation? ._. This happened last time with RUSE too...

usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
What happened to the days when developers waited 2-3 years to release the next game in a franchise? Now all Activision does is reskin the Modern Warfare engine with a few enhancements, give it new missions and reskin some weapons and bam. New CoD game every November.
Just remember, by buying this, you are supporting this viscous cycle. Just sayin'. -
