Direct2Drive: It's 9am, here's your code for real this time!
Me: Yay!
intall...
launch...
Steam: You can't play this yet! The game hasn't been released!
Me: -
You don't have to support it or buy into it, but that's where society is today. -
my game is running like 30-40 fps. compared to 60+ in mw2.
-
or have you been playing from midnight until now.
i learnt the hard way last time with mw2. finished single player and then went onto multi and got my wooped.
this time multiplayer first and im winning every other game. bummer that i cant play more but blind in one eye and other one is getting strained by gameplay so have to limit myself.
loving it so far. -
Been playing it from release time til complete
only 6 hour or so needed
-
they said its longer than mw2 which was 7-8 hours. thought this was going to be roughly 10 hours to complete.
-
Eh... It does have some nice parts especially controlling helicopters yourself and commanding a strike team from some plane
But overall, it's just normal CoD.
I hate hazmat suits. They break easilyBut It took me about 5 hours-ish to complete it. Never bothered looking around for intel properly though ._.
The ending however, made me lol -
I purchased Black Ops from direct2drive.com and downloaded the 'preload' zip file. I unzipped the folder and ran the installer. I entered my cdkey and it began to go through the motions of installing. The game never actually got to the install portion of it, just the steam preparing to install window. then my steam library pops up, it wants me to download black ops. It says its going to take over 9 hours!
What the hell was the point of the preload!
Anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong here?
I even moved the preload folder into the steam directory/steamapps/common and tried to rerun it. -
The game's already released. Preloading's there for you to download the whole file and install it before the game's released.
It is correct for it to want to download the whole thing and then install itPreloading will do the same anyway, download the whole thing and install but just have the files encrypted until release time.

Anyone else getting lag spikes? I get an average of 60 frames then it will dip into the forties and sometimes twenties. Pretty annoying.
EDIT: Googled the problem and found this: http://www.mapmodnews.com/article.php?story=heavy-lag-stuttering -
Yeah got the same problem too but I just thought that it was my computer
-
I downloaded the preload 4 days ago. Now that i have my key, when I go to install the game, it wont. Steam wants me to download all 8gb again.
See my issue? How can i get steam to install the game from my preload files? -
-
-Om nom nom- Tree burner ninja'd me and probably answered your question
The download window thing was probably looking through your computer and will jump to completion and download the multiplayer section of the game for you and some random patches if there's any. -
From D2d it won't load to steam until you had the key. I just had to wait for the "Preparing to install" window to finish loading.
-
yes i have my key.
I fixed it, I had to change steam servers. I switched from washington dc to chicago. guess the dc servers are overloaded or something -
the full package is about 22gb
the game itself is 8gb and dont ask me what the other14gb is for.
it might say 20 odd hours to download but mine took about 2 hours in total. depends what your download speed is and your broadband connection. ive only got roughly 4mb speed. -
I read from another forum that this should help with the random lags some people are having.
1. Open Console (`) Type /cl_maxpackets 100, Close Game.
2. Right click on Black Ops Multi in steam gamesGo Properties -> Updates -> Untick Enable steam cloud sync. -
anyone know where I can get it for cheaper than $59.99
-
If you are subscribed to NewEgg's e-blast promo newsletter, you should have received a $10 off promote code.
Not sure if the code is restricted to my account, but first person uses it gets it:
Newegg.com - Call of Duty: Black OPS PC Game Activision -
Just finished the Single Player campaign and definitely loved the story......was more complex and had more depth IMO than MW2. Was a big COD: WaW fan too and liked how they wove elements from that game into this one.
Infinity Ward or whoever develops the next installment (MW3?) is going to be hard pressed to craft as good a story I think.....
The ending is absolutely HILARIOUS as well......I think JFK himself would be amused....haha -
Will I got the ps3 version on opening night at toy r us with a 20 dollar gift card. Then I bring the copy to target and return it and get the pc version. So basically I got it for 40 buck.
-
Still waiting for $40 or less... preferably $30. Come on Steam Black Friday do me good!
