What settings could I play Microsoft Flight Simulator Gold Edition on my notebook? Specs are below:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8800 (2.66 Ghz) Centrino 2
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT 512mb
RAM: 4GB DDR2
Display: 1920 x 1080

On that resolution that you have, probably low to medium. That is a pretty demanding game. Also depending is if your card is DDR2 or 3.
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Would it be possible to get a higher FPS at a much lower resolution, say 720p? I really want a good flight sim game...
Mr. Mysterious -
Unfortunately, yes, it is impossible, unless you find 10fps is playable. With a 4570, u can't expect to run any recent games at 1920x1080.
-
The answer is yes, you will get much better fps at a lower resolution, say 1280x720, the visual quality will be lower, but of course u get higher/playable fps in return.

Intel Graphics vs SDRAM >>
I'm trying to purchase a laptop at 550$~700$ that would be capable of running Lineage II at decent settings. I'm trying to avoid Intel for this reason but I found an interesting laptop that has the following specs:
- Name: Toshiba Satellite L500-017
- Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200 (2.0GHZ; 800MHZ FSB; 1MB Cache)
- RAM: 3GB; Expandable To 4GB
- RAM Type: DDR2 SDRAM
- Harddrive Space: 250GB [5400RPM]
- Graphics Card: 1340MB Shared Mobile Intel GMA 4500M
- Screen Size: 16"
- Price: 550$CA at TheSource (Normally: 750$)
It's a great laptop but the Intel graphics card frightens me. I'm assuming it's a piece of crikes and the fact I read that it can't be replaced with an ATI (because it's integrated) makes it worse. All of the laptops I've seen so far have an Intel graphics card; this laptop is special due to its SDRAM. I'm just wondering if that RAM will make a difference overall and is it possible to replace the graphics card with a better one?
Also, I might consider a Dell (ew) if this laptop isn't capable of handling Lineage II. The specs for the Dell would be:
- Name: Dell New Inspiron
- Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T6500 (2.10GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
- RAM: 2GB; Expandable To 4GB
- RAM Type: DDR2
- Harddrive Space: 160GB [5400RPM]
- Graphics Card: 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330
- Screen Size: 15.6"
- Price: 689$CA at Dell.ca (19$/m)
If this laptop is better, I'll take it :\ even if it is Dell; memory is expandable and perhaps the graphics card can be replaced? -
I am planning to buy HP pavilion dv6-2020ev, but I want to know if it's able to run COD4, battlefield2, Crysis.
- Intel i7-720QM
- Nvidia GT230M (with 1gb dedicated memory)
- 4GB DDR3
- 15.6" HD
thx -
All of those should run fine.
Details will depend on what resolution you run however. -
On which setting I would be able to run Crysis. medium to high ?
and is there a big difference between the Hp and Asus g51J , with GTX260, ? -
Can I run CoD Modern Warfare2 on my machine on high, what should I expect?? Also does anybody know if having the quad core will help any for the game?
thanks! -
What is the best the Geforce 105M with 256 DDR3 can do?
Performance on notebookcheck says it gets around 1500-2000 points in 3Dmark 06, but in games the performance looks much worse, like that COD4 is nearly unplayable on it. Is it supposed to be like that? -
Luffy, you can't really expect a low end card like 105M can game well with decent settings/resolutions, turn down the resolution to 1024x768 or even lower as well as other in game settings, then you have a playable game. For older games, it can do better though.
-
Mr._Kubelwagen More machine now than man
How would OF2: Dragon Rising run on my laptop on an external monitor at 1650x1080? How about 1440x900?
Merci -
Both of these are not made for gaming but Dell is much better choice in terms of gaming. But not good. And you won't be able to replace the graphic card, that is rarely the case with NBs.
-
Well, I'm getting the Dell, and apparently any graphics card that isn't integrated (Intel) can be replaced, laptop or not. The graphics card that's in there already is fine for playing Lineage II, Aion - even Resident Evil 5 (I checked the specs). Even if it's at basic settings, I don't need high-quality shadows or anything - just an enjoyable, non-laggy experience. The graphics card that's there is rated Class 3 in any case - at least it's not Class 5 lol!
'Much better than my terrible Compaq computer in any case. It has some old Integrated graphics card that makes Luna and Ragnarok lag. Rofl.
I also read from a lot of reviews that the Dell motherboard fries around 10~15 months of purchase. Is that true? It'd suck to replace my laptop in about a year ^^"
I can buy this for 618$CA:
- Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5400 (2.7GHZ; 800MHZ FSB; 2MB Cache)
- 4GB DDR2 SDRAM
- ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB
- 500GB Sata Harddrive [7200RPM]
- Windows Vista Home Premium
Now, I know that's about 2x better than the laptop, but I really want a laptop and not a desktop; seeing as how I'm capable of playing Lineage II without any problems, I don't really need to buy the desktop, right? I can buy it later, after all.
P.S. I'd like to emphasize I'm not playing Xbox 360 or PS3 games on the laptop; I'm playing Ragnarok, Lineage II, Aion, etc. - nothing like an Xbox 360 / PS3; I should be more than capable with the Dell laptop. -
@Falendriel - That last one is again little bit better for your gaming. One advice, wait for a few days and try to find one with Windows 7, it's much better than Vista.
@Mr._Kubelwagen - Which one, the one in the sig. Fine I guess, medium to high settings. Depending on the native resolution of the monitor, if you go below it you'll get more frames but blurry picture. -
I can upgrade to Windows 7 for free so it's fine if I buy nice ^^
-
CoD Modern Warfare2, what should I expect with this system?
thanks! -
In contrast what about the Ati 4570... How much better would that be in general?
-
You should expect maxed out settings and excellent experience while gaming
Alienwares are made for that, aren't are?
-
Hey, guys. I built a new laptop today at the same price with better specs. The processor's a bit less than the previous, but it's still nice.
The new one is as follows:
- Model: Dell New Inspiron 15
- OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
- Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4300 (2.10GHZ/800MHZ FSB/1MB Cache)
- Memory: 4GB DDR2 Shared Dual Channel
- Harddrive: 320GB SATA [5400RPM]
- Graphics Card: 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330
- Sound: SoundBlaster X-FI Hi Def Audio
- Screen Size: 15.6"
- Price: 767$CA (taxes included)
- Before Discount: 1027$CA (taxes included)
Compared to:
- Model: Dell New Inspiron 15
- OS: Windows Vista
- Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T6500 (2.10GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB Cache)
- RAM: 2GB; Expandable To 4GB
- RAM Type: DDR2
- Harddrive Space: 160GB [5400RPM]
- Graphics Card: 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330
- Screen Size: 15.6"
- Price: 779$CA (taxes included)
The New Dell is better, even though the cache is 1MB compared to 2MB, right?
Remember: I'm playing Lineage II & Ragnarok (maybe Luna), so I don't need an Alien computer or something crazy. -
i would say it is a tad better. 2 gb of ram vs 4 wont make much of a difference, but windows 7 is way better than vista, the processor is worse though, with a smaller cache but the hard drive is much bigger.
-
All right! I bought my PC!
Here it is:
- Model: Dell New Inspiron 15
- OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
- Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P7350 (2.00GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3MB Cache)
- Memory: 4GB DDR2 Shared Dual Channel
- Harddrive: 320GB SATA [5400RPM]
- Graphic Card: 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330
- Screen Size: 15.6"
- Screen: High Definition (1600x900)
- Sound Card: Soundblaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio
- Price: 959.40$CA (with taxes)
I noticed that the GHZ is smaller in this one (2.00GHZ compared to 2.10GHZ); will that affect anything really? -
No, because the P series is better than the Pentium Series. You'll notice that the P series is also a bit more energy efficient, and it has a better architecture, so if anything, it will be better.
-
Ah, awesome
So I'll be able to play games for the PC, like Aion, easily with that laptop.
Thanks for the help guys. -
you will be able to play them, however with that GPU i wouldnt push it to high. low/medium should be ok
-
Well, that's fine. I don't need shadows and stuff anyway lol it just needs to look appealing
so Medium is fine.

My laptop right now is starting to have issues, and the issues are spots on the screen, one USB port does not work. So, I am starting to look for a new laptop play mainly Urban Terror, TF2, and HL2: DM. My laptop right now works great in Urban Terror, but TF2 and HL2: DM jumps at times.
My specs of this laptop right now:
Turion64 x2 TL-58
Radeon x1200 IGP
2GB of ram
15.4 inch screen at 1280x800
The new laptops that i am looking at are:
AMD Turion II M500
Radeon HD 4200
4GB DDR2 of ram
14.1 inch screen at 1280x800
--or--
Intel Core 2 Duo T6600
Intel 4500MHD
4GB DDR3 of ram
15.6 inch screen at 1366x768
I am looking at the AMD one mainly, but I am kinda open to other too. I still have a warranty at Best Buy, and if they replace this one I am using right now, I want an idea to look at. My budget is about $500 to $600 right now till I find out what they are going to do. I might be able to go to $650, but I am not sure. -
Advcomp2019, Given the 2 options u provided, the first one will be quite a bit faster, the HD 4200 will straight up dominate the intel 4500M HD, considering the games u played aint very hardware demanding, i think you will be fine with the HD 4200.
The faster DDR3 and better CPU in the second laptop can't make up for a slower card like 4500M HD. So go with the HD 4200. -
I'm crazy, just want to play it I don't care about graphics&resolution... Left4Dead, CallofDuty4, [PROTOTYPE]...
Gateway ML6721 (Windows XP 32-bit runs much faster then Vista)
CPU:Intel Pentium Dual Core T2310 / 1.46 GHz
GPU:Intel GMA X3100 (Intergrated I know, not meant for gaming I know!)
RAM:1GB DDR2 SDRAM - 533.0 MHz
Display:15.4 in TFT active matrix
2nd Laptop this one may be better idk...
HP Pavillion dv6000 (Vista 32-bit, Probably put Windows XP 32-bit on it)
CPU:AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 @ 1.90GHz
GPU:Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS (Working Perfectly, NOT Defective)
RAM:2GB DDR2 SDRAM - ???.?MHz
Display:15.4 inch (I think... looks a little smaller then the other one :/) -
Zagii, the HP DV6000 will be significantly better than the Gateway for gaming, the 8400M gs totally destroys an intel GMA x3100. With it you should be able to run all the games u mentioned with low/medium settings fine.
-
everything on the 2nd laptop is better than the first one. i personally wouldnt bother installing xp on it. with all the updates vista has now it isnt that bad, and the pros of vista beat out xp as far as im concerned. i would switch to windows 7 though, if you are just buying it from the store you should get a windows 7 upgrade disk with it.
-
No its my moms... which is gonna make it hard to get lol!. ok hmm probably leave Vista on it and see how it does. thx guys now I need a plan to get it from my mom
-
DELL Studio 15
Dual Core T4200 Intel Dual Core T4200 2.0GHz / 1MB L2 Cache / 800MHz FSB
15.6" HD Wide TrueLife display (1366 x 768),
2GB (2x1) 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 RAM
320GB Serial-ATA
ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 512MB
Can notebook run Batman Arkham Asylum on medium whitout stuttering? -
it should probably run it high with a good framerate. on my 2600 it ran on high settings.
-
What about ram and processor? Is it good for some of the newest titles?
For example Far cry 2? -
meh, niether the ram or processor are terrible, not great, but it will run any modern title right now. far cry 2 should get high/med settings.
2gb ram should be enough for anything -
Can I run Starcraft 2? Specs are in sig.
-
The system requirement for starcraft 2 isn't released yet, but a 4670 should have no problem handling it, but don't expect to run it on your native resolutions though.
-
Senor Mortgage Notebook Evangelist
I'm 99% percent sure this will be my new rig by the end of the week.
Sony Vaio CW series
Processor: Intel P7450
Ram: 4 gig DDR2 800
HD: 320gig 5400 rpm
GPU: Nvidia 230M 512mb
1366x768 resolution
So the question is how well will it run games such as Fallout 3, Dragon's Age, NBA 2k10 and GTA4? I generally don't play many FPS games but might give Borderlands a shot so general FPS settings would be nice to know. Will I be to play these games at native rez with medium settings? -
Fallout 3, Dragon's Age and NBA 2k10 should be no problems for your laptop, But you should give up your hope for GTA 4, your P7450 is going to be too weak to handle a CPU intensive game like GTA4.
-
Senor Mortgage Notebook Evangelist
Thanks. GTA4 is no big deal as it has largely garnered mixed reviews outside of the initial release hype. I can pop in my GTA:SA and finally beat that one for my GTA jollies.
-
My notebook isnt much for gaming, but can it even handle a FPS like Combat Arms, or some older games? Native res.1280X800.
-
from what i saw of the system reqs it should run. i also suggest games like cs 1.6, aoe2, and gta vice city.
-
Ok thanks. Ive only played CA and on my desktop and was unsure if the crappy intel graphics would lag that game on my notebook. Ill have to try it.
Any free software out there that can monitor in game FPS? -
fraps. its the best. it also does screenshots and video
-
It won't work on his notebook... I had the intel X3100 GMA on my last one, and it would lag me beyond all reason to use FRAPS and/or Hypercam even recording an emulator-class program (I.E. something like MAME or Final Burn). If it's on his desktop it'd be fine though
EDIT: Unless it's been upgraded since the last time I used it on my old notebook and it now does not lag beyond all reason, I can't say about the new versions as I do not use that notebook anymore and have it lent to a friend so I cannot check -
recording does terrible things to the fps, but if you only use the fps thing or screenshots you wont see any difference in fps.
-
Fraps also crashes my Windows Live Messenger unless version 2.9.99 is used... >.>
