The 3700M would offer about a 25% increase in performance and well worth it, imo.
You could max all of those games out with no sweat if you opted for the 3700M.

hey guys just wondering if my notebook will run these two games:
1: world in conflict
2: company of heroes
thanks and specs in sig. -
okay, im new here, hello. im looking for a laptop to run WoW in max settings.
im looking at bestbuy, so far ive found
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9166635&type=product&id=1218041148373
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9036027&type=product&id=1218011395791
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9053196&type=product&id=1218012518208
sorry for so many links, but im really stuck on this decision. if there is another laptop in bestbuy for that price range, please post? thanks. EDIT: eh, might as well say, crysis also. -
The toshiba is the best out of those, you'll be able to run wow on medium settings at a lower res. Wow has gotton a graphics update in WOTLK so it's pretty hard to max out. -
My friend is telling me I'll be having better luck running Crysis Warhead than the original one, did they dumb down the graphics or is it more optimised, from the screens, it seems quite good looking. -
Hi all,
I'm looking at a Sony Vaio SZ laptop... there are a couple. I would be obliged if you would look the specs over and tell me what (if any) performance boost I would get from one to the other. I hope to play CS:S, COD4 and Command and Conquer:RA3. Thanks!
Notebook no. 1:
Sony SZ320P/B
Intel C2D 1.83Ghz
Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 128 MB Dedicated
2 GB RAM (maxed out)
Notebook no. 2:
Sony SZ750N/C
Intel C2D T8100 2.1ghz
Nvidia Geforce Go 8400M GS (64 MB dedicated)
4 GB RAM (maxed out) -
you have 14 days to return the laptop and get your self an asus g50vt-x1 from best buy.
it has a 9800m gs and it will handle those games no prob... plus its on sale for $1049 right now.. SO HURRY!?!? -
-
Not really... but my question was really:
1. Will they run COD4, CS:S or RA3. (my "playable" fps averages around 15 fps)?
And 2. Which one would be better?
Thanks very much!
EDIT:
Would this be much better?
Dell XPS M1330
Intel C2D T7200 2ghz
2 GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS 128 MB
I noticed you said "crippled" in reference to the 8400M-- was that because of a small amount of memory? -
Hi guys, I was wondering what are the best setting combinations I could run COD5: World at War on my Aluminum MB with a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M at. Any good combos?
-
A mixture of medium and some low settings on WXGA should be fine.
EDIT: XP or Leopard? -
-
COD will run on the 8400m GS on low settings @ 1024 x 768,
CS:S: High-Maxed @ 1280 x 800 or higher.
RA3: Low - Medium settings @ 1024 x 768.
Any laptop with a 9200m, 9300m , 3450, 3470 would be a better choice if you can find one in your price range. -
I got a brand new Command and conquer Red alert 3 for christmas but my computer doesn't even recognizes the disk. But my laptop which has worse settings than my computer recognizes it. I have been on a web site which has told me that Red alert 3 should work on my computer but the computer just doesn't recognise it. does anyone have any suggestions on how i might be able to get Red alert 3 to be recognized on my computer
Thanks -
Can you open\browse the contents of the disc?
Do you have another computer you can try the disc in? -
i have dv5-1135
4gb ram
2.2 core 2 duo
geforce 9600m gt
i tried resolution 1280x 800 and all settings on very high , couldn't manage to play at all
now i am running at 1024x 768 it's pretty good
i need to know what's the maximum settings i can play crysis with my vga
and another thing , how many FPS should i get and how to mesure this FPS
just need to check how my vga is working because i am not sure if my drivers were installed right
thank you -
The 9600M GT seems to perform as it should on your laptop, can't expect higher settings from a mid-range card.
Download FRAPS to measure your fps! -
sorry i forgot to post that
i am running at 1024x768 on medium settings
that's the best this card can do on crysis??
and i will download fraps thx , i just need to know if my drivers are working fine because i had some problems installing them yesterday -
don't need fraps for crysis
r_displayinfo = 1
in console -
Crysis is a very, very demanding game, and your card is what i'd call "mid-range". i think it's performing pretty much how it should. even i can barely run Crysis at all high at 1440x900.
-
install some mod packs that help run things better. the triple C mod helps increase picture quality and performance.
also, go into your nvidia control panel and set your settings to High Performance rather than Quality. then go manage individual settings and change things for high performance according to the little info tidbits nvidia provides on each option. -
ok , high performance thing done
but where is this individual settings located in my nvidia control panel ??? coz i cant find it
and what are these mod packs and where do i find them ???
thx for ur help -
and 1 more thing
how can i access my console in crysis , i tried google and said that there's enable console in options but i cant find it
by the way this this the first time i play crysis , i am just playing it to test my new vga that's all -
Toaccess the console push the key above "Tab" on your keyboard, then to see you fps type in: r_displayinfo=1
If you want to get better performance you could try running in DX9 mode. Right click the crysis shortcut and select Play DX9. -
Yes it can work becaues I have C&C3 Tiberium Wars and Kanes wrath and they work on my Media accelerator 4500MHD and Red alert 3 has similar requirements for c&c 3 and kanes wrath and it can work on medium graphics
-
ok i have a gateway 7811 fx specs are 9800m gts 2.26ghz core 2 duo 4gigs of ram. Do you guys think my notebook can run the game aion tower of eternity(not yet realeased) on maxed settings(or almost) with a smooth frame rate?
-
alright i want to play the new lord of the rings conquest game that is coming out, what i have is : Toshiba Satellite L305-S5895. i have looked it all up and the only difference in compatability is my processor is 2.0GHz and the game says "2.4GHz or equivalent" would i be able to play the game smoothly without problems?

further information need i can provide but can anybody tell me how to solve this problem. Is it posible to upgrade my graphic card? if yes which one i can go for? pls help me with this thank u. -
Sorry but the minimum requirement for hells highway is an X1600 dedicated gpu, you have a X1100 which is integrated. If the laptop is solely for gaming then i suggest doing everything you can to return it ir exchange it for a laptop with a dedicated gpu.
Sorry about the bad news, but welcome to the forum -
Thank u so much WILLY S.
Is it posiple to change my vga i mean can i fix a separate vga card to my laptop? im sorry i hav poor hardware knowledge about laptop if i am asking a stupid question
thanks again -
No prob. You can't change your gpu, sorry. I think there have been external graphics cards released that would let you play new games. Not sure how THIS one is coming along but it looks promising
-
Game: Mass Effect
CPU: P8400
GPU: 9600M GS

Games: Cod4, GTA IV, Crysis
CPU 2.26 P8400

Nice looking game, poorly optimised, gameplay and controls are not suited to the pc... a bit like lost planet in that sense if that turns you off.
Crysis: Medium @ 1280 x 800
GTA4: Low @ 1024 x 768(with lag) -
Thanks Willy, will the performance increase if i get 3 gb ram??
-
I mean for GTA IV, Its a HP Dv5T
-
Not really, loading times will be faster but you won't get any more fps.
-
and i don't have the option play DX9 when i right click the crysis shortcut .... -
vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.

I was thinking about buying that laptop, and was wondering if anyone know how well pre-2007 games would run on it. I was thinking along the lines of Bioshock, but if someone could give me suggestions of games that run comfortably, I'd appreciate it. -
My gf just picked this up. I have yet to figure out the 3430, if it even has one. See my other thread about this laptop here.
-
bioshock should run looking at the system requirements. probably not on all high settings though.
any of the source powered games such as half life 1/2 episodes 1+2, CS:S, team fortress.
hitman series are fun if you like that kind of game.
unreal tournament would play with decent settings.
it should play call of duty 2 and 4 fairly well. again, maybe not on high settings. only game i wouldn't advise is crysis really.
if you can stretch your budget slightly I'm sure you can find a similar laptop with a 9600 in it, which seems to be a good card based on other peoples comments. or an ATI 3650/3670. -
I'm not looking to play the latest games. I'm perfectly fine with pre 2007 games. Judging from what I've read from research, this video card should be fine for me, as I fall in between casual and hardcore gaming (although I lean more towards hardcore).
So, is the ATI card any good for someone like me?
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I am into FPS games. -
can my computer run Star Wars: Rebel Assault 2?
my comp. is in the sig. -
Will my x205-sli1 be able to play this game well (60fps) in 1440x900 on high settings? The only upgrade to it is 4gb of ram.
-
alright so i bought the game, and it installed just fine, but when i go to play it, i can hear the sound of the game, but its a black screen i even have the "special mouse" that it gives (little sword thing) but yea the screen is black...could that processor difference be the problem? i have reinstalled it twice now and the problem still occurs
-
I'm thinking of buying the Orange Box for my laptop. Dell 1520.
Specs
Core2Duo 2.0Ghz
RAM 2GB
GeForce 8400M GS
Vista
I've played HL2 on this laptop and it works fine but I've read Episode 2 ups the scales quite a bit. How is performance with these specs, am I looking at too many compromises ?
thanks -
it ran well on my m1330
