Here is the laptop I am thinking of getting.

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 2.0G
    Screen: 17.3" 1600x900
    Memory Size: 4GB DDR2
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650

Would this be a good notebook to get to play L4D, TF2, maybe BioShock, GTAIV?? most imporantly tf2 though...

    thanks.

ZuneNinja, you will be able to run L4D and TF2 on high. Not sure about the others.

I doubt GTA IV will even run on low on that system. GTA IV is heavily cpu reliant, and requires a c2q to even be played at decent settings.

should because it is a little faster than a 9500m, so about 8600m level performance.

    Hi.
I bought a new notebook last month, and now i got time to test some new games.
I tested COD4 but it seems like it cant run at best quality options, why  :(
Can My New TOSHIBA Satellite A350-21D Notebook Run COD4?

Windows Vista® Home Premium 32-bit Edition
    Intel® Core™2 Duo-processor P8600, 2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz cache 3 MB
    4,096 MB, DDR2 RAM (800 MHz)
    500 GB S.M.A.R.T. 5,400 rpm
    16 " Toshiba TruBrite® HD TFT 16:9 (1.366 x 768)
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3650, 512 MB (up to 2,302 MB)

Right now the graphic card shows it have (totally 1774 mb), maybe because 32-bit vista can not use all 4gb ram

and which graphic options in the game should i use?

    & THANX!!!

I'm thinking about buying the Latitude E6400
    Specs:
    P8600
    4GB RAM
    Quadro NVS 160M (256MB)

Will this be able to run Counter Strike Source?
Also, is there any other games worth noting that this setup would be able to run?

Argh, why must people keep propagating lies... GTA IV runs fine with a high end GPU and a high end DUAL core CPU. You're right about a 1.8 GHz not being up to snuff, but I can run on medium/high with very good draw distances and 50 vehicle density (higher settings than the consoles) with frame rates never going under 25 and averaging in the mid 30s...

Wow I have a similar configuration and I play COD W@W at extra settings with 27FPS average and Crysis Warhead at gamer-enthusiast with 20FPS average both at my native res. I just OCed a little but it makes wonders, maybe you should update your drivers   .

How would TF2, CoD4, Modern Warfare 2 and Fallout 3 run on the following notebooks?

    MacBook Pro 13.3" via Bootcamp (C2D 2.26 GHz, 4GB RM, nVidia 9400)
    Sony Vaio SR (C2D 2.53 or 2.66 GHz, 4GB RAM, HD4570)
    Sony VAIO FW (C2D 2.53 or 2.66 GHz, 4GB RAM, HD4650)
    Dell SXPS 16 (C2D 2.53 or 2.66 GHz, 4GB RAM, HD4670)
    Dell Studio 1555 (C2D 2.53 or 2.66 GHz, 4GB RAM, HD4570)

These are the notebooks I'm considering. Gaming is not a priority, but then... you know ;).

But you have definitly better CPU, more ram (6 gb), and you are using 64-bit vista! can this be the answer why your notebooks run COD4 fine

Mine runs COD4 too, but if i choose best graphic setting it will not run smoothly, it will be a kind slowly, especialy when i use sniping mode (right mouse click u know), why??
i have latest driver for ATI HD 3650 from producent site!

    any answers,

    thanx

    Hello guys.

I'm wondering, if I would be able to run the following games:

    - Cod4, TF2 (and other Orange-box games), Left4Dead, Crysis, Mass Effect, GTA IV, Oblivion

    on Lenovo Y530 Laptop with 4 gigs of ram (ddr3), Intel® Dual Core T4200 2.0GHz, nVidia GeForce 9600M GS 512MB (!PCI-Express 2.0 x16 VRAM do 2080MB TurboCache ), Vista system :)

    Thanks for replies :)

Yup. You will run Cod4 and TF2 in high/medium graphics, but you will not be able to play Left 4 dead, Crysis, Mass Effect and GTA IV in high graphics (maybe medium)

I'd just like to bring peoples attentions to the following site:

    http://systemrequirementslab.com

At this site it will test your computer hardware against the minimum and recommended specs for almost every game out there =-P Not quite as good as someone having experience, however it can certainly give you a general idea of whether you can run it or not.

Ok I don't have a notebook so I'll probably get deleted again for asking the same question without full specs.

Can any of the notebooks with a T6400 + 9300m, 9400m or a 4570 run TF2 or other source engine games at medium-high settings on whatever is native to a 15inch screen?

Should be fine. Dunno, but at least medium settings I would think.

Yes, it should do fine. The source engine is pretty old

you will be able to run it for sure, not sure on the specs either but as far as i know max payne isnt looking to beat crysis, you should be able to run it on at least medium (low end guess) or high. your graphics card is good (comparitivly) for a laptop)

You don't need to have a notebook to post in this thread. This is meant for a place where you can ask if certain set-ups will run a game so you can decide whether or not to get a notebook.

Well, the resolution on a 15 inch screen can be anywhere from 1280x800 to 1920x1200, but yes you will be able to run source engine games at ~medium settings at 1440x900 or 1280x800. Note L4D is definitely more intensive than HL and TF2, so it'll probably run at lower settings.

Out of those three cards though, the 4570 is definitely stronger and will run some of the games at ~high settings or at a higher resolution. The 9300 and 9400 are fairly weak.

Crysis at medium would probably be fine.

GTA IV will struggle with a low-end Core2Duo and mid-range GPU... but you may be able to play it with low settings

Hey, I'm new here. I've been considering getting a HP Pavilion dv3t (with the below configuration). Will it run Spore, The Orange Box, and The Sims 3 @ high/max settings in native resolution fluently? Thanks!

At highest settings, not necessarily since the 105M is a weak videocard. At least medium with good FPS? Definately

Medium settings is kinda iffy for those games.

Probably at least medium settings. Doubtful on highest settings.

Doubtful since the 130M will be a bottleneck. It should be playable, I would think, but not at great settings.

Im buying a new laptop for my girlfriend and i was just wondering that which one of the cards is better:

    Geforce 9650M GT 1gv (GDDR2) or ATI Radeon HD 4570 512Mb (GDDR3)

The computers have the exact same other components.

from http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html it says 9650M GT is much more better.. even tho it has lower specs like core speed etc. but it has higher mem bus - 128 bit vs the Radeons 65 bit.

Some reviews say that 4570 is much more lower and some reviews say that GF will get its kicked. So im wondering that is the 60 € more of that GF card a wise choice? What is the real difference between the cards?

The games that she is gonna play is world of warcraft and world of warcraft (yes... she's all about wow) :). Ty everyone :)

PS: The processor is Inte C2D T5850 and it has 4 gig of DDR2 800Mhz ram.
