You mean the i7 965? It's a quad-core, but the hyper-threading shows it as 8 cores.
-
you guys realize that Eurocom has pulled the D900F page from their site.
Probably those specs might have still been confidential (by Clevo) and bot full finalized for public knowledge.
Glad I made the screenie of the specs. -
i was wondering if it was generic or not....

It gets free 3dmark points for the new cpu though, so I guess its possible due to the high cpu scores.
Thats also why 3dmark can be misleading though, a desktop loaded with a 3.5ghz quad and a 9800GX2 wont even hit 20k, but an overclocked i7 with a 4870 could probably do it even though it has much less gaming power/potential.
Its best when looking at 3dmark scores to break it into the cpu & gpu scores rather than look at the total figure to get a real idea of performance.
Something like this is what I want for video work on the go, but the gpu is overkill. Id like to find a affordable version with just the cpu power and a mid ranged gpu for a more sane price. -
hyper threading, bah, its just a way to make it seem better.
"Hey guys, my cpu has 4 imaginary cores, alongside the real ones."
Well in my book that's a quad core.
8 core performance baby, octitron FTW

had me fooled..i was thinking it had 8 cores...lol
-
You weren't, it does have 8 cores.

Some raw i7 920 stats, albeit overclocked. My Q6600 @ 3.2 only clocks in at about 12.9, the 920 is a beastly CPU no matter how you slice it. -
especially when other websites have linked to the "201" page. -
I bet this thing would melt an igloo.
-
-
good...I need a new heater.
-
not gonna happen since Clevo's cooling design for their high-end notebooks are second to none.... especially with the current D901C (which has the best cooling to date). -
No wonder its snowing like this

I believe a laptop has to have some degree of portability i.e not to heavy to carry not too much space and a decent battery.
Yes this laptop looks impressive on paper but looks more like a min desktop and has crap portability i.e moving a brick which is litterally the size of a brick and very big and clumsy... -
) gets warmer.
That said, the same exact reasoning applies to desktops and this monstrosity is still going to consume a lot less energy and thus produce a lot less heat than most of the ones built for gaming. -
-
-
makes more sense to me, thanks ichime.
-
+1 ichime
needless to say the SLi debate needs to be adressed...no one can tell for sure though
im sticking with my montevina platform eventuall ill get a quadcore if i ever need it and 4870's but this laptop is extremely nice
-
humm, i have found that either sli has issues with quad cores or vista does(vista and game rendering)... there is definitely something going on...
-
johnksss I can say Vista for sure. When I run SLI in XP microstuttering is gone. I do dual boot but I barely ever use Vista anymore. XP is still the way to go when it comes to gaming and stuttering. Smooth gameplay in XP all the way.
-
Hmm...So if I switch to XP...I'll get like a 5 fps boost. Or is smoothness the only thing that changes. Not necessarily the average.
-
No necesserily more fps but for me stuttering is a no go. In XP due to me having SLI I get rid of these microstutters if I run XP.
Not sure you have a single GPU that shouldn´t cause stuttering, but if you have try a dual boot with XP and see where you land at. Crysis feels smoother in XP too for me. -
I have never experienced any micro-stuttering in VISTA, and yes XP is slightly better for gaming, but Vista is not too far behind.
Vista has come a long way from when it first came out. -
not the micro stuttering, but more along the lines of using a quad holds the 9800m gtx back. unless you can get the cpu and gpu to work together. right now, they are working against each other in certain games and benchmarks. and 3dmark clearly being one of them.
and yes ikas, vista has come along way., but win7 is beating it out the gate... it's what vista should have been...lol -
I hear ya Jonnksss, have you tried win7 on your beast yet, I didn't really bother because I didn't think they had all the drivers for it.
-
lol
they have all the drivers, you just get a sucky raid score is all..
just use your vista drivers. -
Technically, the drivers are the same ones used for Vista, nah?
-
i used my driver cd to install my drivers. and grabbed the latest version of intel matrix 8.7 from intel. and that was about it.
-
No kidding!
Going to have to give it a try,What exactly is better for gaming using Win7,Fps or do you get just a better 3DMARK06 score?and THANKS!
(sorry people for asking this ? on this forum) -
-
i haven't even started running a bunch of games on it yet. just loaded it up and ran through it as an os. running it on a centrino 1.8 ghz laptop and it seems to be running fairly decent as far as speed is concerned.

I guess now 295 is the king with quad sli.
-
Wow
ten char -
Is the title for real?
Do they sell a crane too with the "laptop"? Lifting it will require 7 months gym time.
-
That's part of the plan ... you won't get weak from just playing games on it ...
-
-
....Muscletop
.
-
-
seriously?? what did install?
-
Now I ask you how can I do this with a desktop?
You miss the point of these types of notebooks. Its like having a desktop on the road .. hench its name, desktop-replacement. Its simply amazing what I can still do with my dated notebook. Running multiple VMs, encrypting everything I work with etc. ... and being able to play whatever game I feel like after work ... all out on the road. -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
I love the specs of this king of beast!!!woww
-
That sure is a beast but my experiences with Clevo pc's in the past have been questionable to say the least...
-
Please, do tell.
-
Can't wait to see this thing cook eggs.
New Clevo D900F! It not only is you personal workstation but you can flip it over cook eggs. Or open the cd drive and make some toast!. Or do a whole turkey dinner in the battery bay!. This industrial cooker will revolutionize.... Oh wait, I forgot its a laptop.
lol, seriously up to 8gb ram in a laptop. Thats ridicolous. -

Wow. That is ridonkulous. I'm sure the price will be equally ridonkulous.
-
Yea, it not only costs $3000+, but you have to verify your purchase by giving us one of your children, and the deed to your house. Lol.
-
I'm thinking you might have to give them your left arm as a down payment and then 4 easy installments of your other four appendages.
Clevo D900F - Core i7 with Nvidia G280 GPU - the new king
