lol (I hate that acronym, but nothing else seemed to fit).
Clearly that player wasn't playing on veteran.

I just finished the single player and it was great. Somehow it has a much more mature feeling.
-
I've never been more drawn in by a single player experience, I don't think.
The storyline began stirring many emotions inside me. As for the airport level, I believe it was used very effectively. It allowed for a very distinct characterization of the enemies that you face for a majority of the game. Anyone criticizing the level for being tasteless and/or ultra violent need to understand that this game is as much a critique of modern war as it is a portrayal of it. The level isn't fun. I felt bad. And it added very much to the experience. -
quoted for the truth, partly. but the point is, civilian deaths are seen as more important because they are casualties of war, in which they had no part in it. even though 1 life isnt greater/less than another life, the cause at which a civilian dies, such as randomly being executed is much worse than fighting for your country in a war, where you have knowledge that you could possibly go down.
and wow, youtube videos auto-play now? wth, i was wondering where teh sound was coming from, i closed all tabs till i realized that the video is below the response box when u quote some1 lolwthbbq. -

Just a general comment but I think the "this or that" mentality is very narrow and shortsighted. It implies something is always true and always false - in philosophy this is called the law of bivalence. I think it is ridiculous - there are multiple ways to interpret situations and it doesn't always boil down to two sides.
When you bind yourself into the absolutist "truth/not truth" mindset you close yourself to change or influence. -
Only extremists take extreme views.

i was gifted a copy of the game and my impressions are as follows....
single player is exceptional i finished it in around 7 hours and it was much more enjoyable than the CoD4, multi-player game-play is also very good the big problem comes with finding games, host migration and ping issues, game-start times are bad and all and all these issues have dampened the game for me greatly.....
single player 9.5/10
multiplayer 6/10 -
Only the Sith deal in absolutes.

You have a point but look at it this way. You can't say one human life is worth more than another. Yes one may say they made a choice, but they still have family. Even dictators and "evil" people do. Everyone has a bit of humanity that somehow touches us.
Whilst you're right, there really have only been two points expressed in this thread (on this topic); it's right and it's wrong to kill the civilians in this game. -

I wouldn't rule out the possibilities . . . it depends on the circumstances.
My point here is that there's more than one way of viewing something, you merely need to be open to the possibilities. That means not taking the "this or that" approach.

I literally just finished COD4MW again in a few hours because I havnt played it in forever... now onto CODMW2 haha
-
I didnt attack him, I made everyone aware what type of person he is. No I have not bought this game. $60 is way to much. I am a man of my word and by IW cutting dedicated servers they lost all my Business. I have seen a few posts from you bashing people in the past.

Why do people automatically assume that because I felt a little bit bad about the massacre of unarmed civilians that I can't "handle" the game? It was just tough to watch.
Lay off.
I'm sorry, what? There is a MAJOR difference between killing an armed individual who is trying to kill you and an unarmed civilian who is not. Can you seriously say that it's the same thing?
I apologize for the triple post in advance.
I don't really know why people are getting their panties in a bunch because of what I said. I know that I will enjoy the game immensely when I actually get it. All I have seen are a few levels played by my roommates, one of which was the airport scene.
I refuse to admit that I am not "mature" enough to play an "M" rated video game because of the fact that I was disturbed by the massacre of innocent civilians. There are rules to war. The combatants in this level broke them. You can not tell me that I am not "mature" enough to handle a video game when I feel a little bit of sadness for the deaths of hundreds of people.
In fact, I would say that it takes a bit of maturity to be able to see this for what it's worth. It shows that one is uncaring if they do not have any remorse while watching or playing this level.
People seriously need to lay off. Did I ever say ANYWHERE that I was disturbed to the point that I could not continue with life, or that I would not be able to play the video game? If I did, show me the quote and I'll address it then.
Yes, it's a video game. A realistic one at that (as video games go). So feeling a bit of sadness is not a major deal. So get off your high horse, and realize that somebody can be bothered by something without being a total "pansy" or "wimp." -
I don't mind shooting woman with children, as long as they're only pixels.
If someone can't tell the difference, he better take a walk -
I agree future_paramedic...I think if a person calls you a pansy or a wimp for this probably has some emotional difficulty in their own life...I would recommend that the person reflect on their own life and their own emotional well being.
Also, why would we say a movie is allowed to evoke emotion...But, not video games? I think they both can do this. -

Anyway... I loved the campaign, even though it was a little short (it wasn't THAT short, I sank a good five or six hours into it). Story evokes lots of excitement and emotions when they brought back you know who from the jail.
-
the scene definitely got a OH MY GOSH response from me, just because of the intensity of the story, likewise when the paratroopers dropped in, and yes although it is only a game these things do happen in war, genocide is very real, and IW have captured the harsh reality of war in my opinion, i did feel for the characters in the game but more like you feel for a character in a book, this did make me reflect that this is happening in different places in the world, which is a good thing as it can open peoples eyes to what actually happens in war.
i don't think any of us is in a position to criticize others reactions to any events, we all react differently to any given situation and we shouldn't forget that. -
we are just saying it's immature to call everyone else immature for not feeling the same way.

Hey guys, need some help installing MW2. I bought a hard copy of the game and I was unaware that you still need Steam in order to activate it and play it. I was planning on installing it on my dad's laptop and on mine as well...does this mean that we can't use 2 separate Steam accounts since it's the same activation key?
-
It can be installed on 2 laptops, but you can only play online one at a time.
But its going to be added permanently to which ever steam account you first install it to. -
That's fine, my dad never plays online...and I'll be playing online rarely anyway. But we can use 2 separate accounts right? I was thinking that we might have to activate it only on one account and use that one account on both laptops.
-
Yes, you would have to share an account.
-
No, you can not use 2 seperate accounts. If you are installing it on two different computers using the same cd key you must use the same Steam account otherwise you will bump into a duplicate key error. Believe me, I've tried it. Using the same steam account will only allow you to go online one computer at a time.
-
You know what? I thought up of a third viewpoint.
It's a friggin game!
The discussion started as "is this scene appropriate for video game inclusion?" And then it morphs into whether it is right to shoot civilians. Talk about simplification.
But there should be a post it note above the monitor. "It is just a game." Heck, they told us all the torture that the Jews went through during Holocaust while I was in Middle School. It made my stomach turn. And it taught me a lesson. It was real.
This scene. Imaginary. Fake. Illusionary. Extraordinary. So all the lessons are hypothetical. -
Ah I see. So going online at the same time is bad. Now, what if we are both playing single player at the same time and connected to the internet...is that okay?
-
Are you guys still talking about this? lol
Have you ever played the GTA series? Sometimes I drive on the sidewalks and run over pedestrians just for fun.... Indeed, It's a friggin game!
-----------------
Can't do that either, only one computer can be online with steam, the other will have to be in offline mode. -

I made a vid of playing MW2 its my friend's copy but he gonna let me borrow it until the holidays since he cant play when he is in college.
I played some of multiplayer and i dont like it at all too many cheaters and no ability to votekick them and the matchmaking thing keeps connecting to the same server i left because of the cheaters
I hope they add dedicated servers soon so we can fight against these hackers instead of depending VAC to ban them and also modded servers so the game wont get boring so quicklyLast edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
The game is awesome. The multi player is crack and the graphics look really good this time around, no doubt.
-
Give it a rest dude. You have no idea what kind of person he is and it seems as if you just want to be a smarta$$ and call someone that simply changed their mind a hypocrite, not very mice thing to call someone that you personally don't know and know nothing about in REAL LIFE.
-
I'd like to give a quick word on all this dedicated server controversy. As someone who is not a big PC gamer at all, at least not on the multiplayer scene, I have to say that I am quite happy with the way MW2 multiplayer is. It's simplified and it's just like the console versions. COD4 was pretty much the first game I played online and I was amazed and how simple it was to get online and play. All the clutter and searching through hosted online games in other PC games wasn't my thing at all. A lot of you hardcore PC gamers might hate it but I think it's an excellent idea for the beginner onliners.
-
Basically, if you like your games vanilla, dedicated servers isn't a dealbreaker. That was my feeling.
-
Question: How is the multiplayer like? I mean really. I just borrowed this from a friend and finished the SP today but i was pretty sure i wouldn't be buying this because of the lack of MP support. Reading through this thread however, it doesn't seem so bad so i might pick it up in December maybe. Does the 9v9 cap bother anyone? Because i loved the 24v24 servers in MW1 and 9v9 doesn't seem to top that.
-
It's a slower game. I remember the big 24 v 24 servers becoming a massive gaggle humping.
Certain chokepoint became kill zones as people would nade spam those areas. We were essentially lemmings. The game has a more America's Army feel. The battles are smaller. If you got a friend with voice chat and the riot shield, you can wipe the floor as the pubbies will catch on and take your lead. -
how do you display your fps in this game?
-
You'll have to use a third party tool like Fraps; there's no in-game console commands.
-
one thing i really liked: AWESOME single player, although short. i also liked how i play at the same settings as i did in COD4, with saem FPS yet COD6 has better visuals. good optimization on IW part.
i played teh singleplayer on pc, today i'll be picking it up on 360 since PC isnt getting the perks of being a pc game, and the fact that most if not all 10th graders in my skool bought this game on release day, for 360... time to play MP with em! -

You tell me.
*not my pic -
Bought this on PC the other day. Quite enjoyed it. I found I liked the story from the first one more though for some reason? MW2 has an epic story, but I found it a little hard to follow exactly what was going on. I managed to piece most of it together, but it could have used a little bit more narrative info as the story progressed. It was great to see CAPT Price and the SAS guys (now task force 141) return to kick some arse. As with the first one, their missions were definetly the best.
Graphics wise, good job infinity ward. They've made the engine better, it still feels fake compared to games like BF:BC and Crysis, but its much better this time. I love the Spec Op's co-op missions. Some of them are absolute gold.
So, in short, good job to the developers. The single player story didn't blow me away like the first one did. But the actual gameplay mechanics and graphics are much better. Spec Op's is a nice touch which will give the game some replay value. Only wish the single player was longer. Its one of the main reasons I bought MW2. -
This game was awesome! I hope they will make a sequel. Quite fun indeed!
-
I just completed the game. One of the best gaming experiences i have come across.. We need more games like this..
Thanks Infinity Ward -
Not trying to say it isn't real, but that would be a real easy photoshop.
-
Ok, in general, you are gonna call a photo shopped, you gotta prove it. Otherwise, this kind of BS is lame.
