I saw this in HIDevolution customization option so I ordered Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra and IC Diamond...I was wondering if I can do the application for my MSI GT80 as Coollaboratory Liquid for the 6820HK and IC Diamond on both the 980m's?

MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
I don't see why not
I am running CLU on my CPU and Noctua on my GPU and I am pretty happy with the temps.
But you really need to take care when applying liquid metal. There is a thread in Alienware subsection under new AW machines section.
Check it out. -
Thank you for the very quick response...I was kinda of hoping if you can point me out to the right direction good sir. I'm also watching this:

This will help you get started. And you need to find a dismantling guide for your machine.Beemo likes this. -
Already dismantled...haha, just needed for a proper application...is my first time using 2 different paste on this machine.
Also should leave the electrical tape there after repasting?
Also I currently don't have that 33+ tape....I have some random black electrical tape right now tho...it says it can withstand up to 80C.
http://www.magnaprime.com.ph/contact/17-products/max-tapes/8-max-electrical-tape/
Not sure if I use this since it it can stand up to 80C only...
EDIT:
I guess I'll just leave everything open for now and going to get a good tape in the morning...Last edited: Jul 11, 2017Vasudev likes this. -
Try a tape that can withstand upto 100-105C similar to scotch super 33.Beemo likes this.
-
Haha...you're right man...I can't leave this cheapo tape the chance to potentially jeopardize this whole operation xD
I will get a good electrical tape in the morning...I wasn't aware that CLU application requires tape. :/Vasudev likes this. -

If the tape is rated for 80C it may melt if your machine overheats for any reason. Also, the tape does stay after the application.

@ Vasudev @ MahmoudDewy
I bought this today:

Same brand in the guide...but if you take a closer look the instructions at the back it says not more than 80C....does this mean I bought a fake tape?Last edited: Jul 12, 2017 -
I think its not genuine. Better ask @iunlock about tape's originality.MahmoudDewy, iunlock and Beemo like this.
-
Taking a look the front tho it does says -18 to 105C
-
105C is correct. Is there print/writing inside of the circle of the tape? (on the cardboard inner area.)
::iunlock:: -
If this is what you mean?
but in the back it says:
not more than 80C? is kind of confusing... -
-
Right.
I will follow the guide on how to apply Liquid metal on the CPU but how do you guys apply IC Diamond on the GPU? -
I use traditional paste by Cooler Master Gel Nano, I spreading it with spatula. FOR ICD, you can try spread the paste or simply put a big pea and just use heat sink to spread it.Last edited: Jul 12, 2017Beemo likes this.

I noticed this too after I purchased it. However, I've used this more than once and had temps higher than 80 degrees and it's 100% fine.Beemo likes this.
-
I really appreciate this...now I have the confidence in using this inside the laptop.
-
-
I tried repasting first with ICD...not so good result so I cleaned it and re-pasted with CLU and see which gives me the best results...tbh not much of temp reduction and I already exhausted CLU.
Stock paste: 55C on idle, 85 on max
ICD: 60C on idle, 90 on max
CLU: 52C on idle, 80 on max
I've followed the liquid metal guide to the letter...not sure what I've done wrong.Last edited: Jul 14, 2017 -
Liquid metal all the way... Idle temp doesn't count
42x@47C
47x@Max 55C
49x@Max 71C

@Papusan : Your ambient temps is cold <20C. @Midas Touch: Your ambient temps is directly linked to your temps. Your temps are pretty good.Last edited: Jul 14, 2017Beemo likes this.

Set pagefile to custom value of 800MB or 1024MB if you have >8GB RAM
-
How much for the initial and maximum size? And do I have to do this in all the drives?
-
Set them to same values with min and max to 800MB (or more)
-
I've set both drives pagefile values to 1024....not sure what it does tho? -
Check your previous post, it saved around 30GB of disk space on SSD.Beemo likes this.
-
Oh wow...you're right!
How is my temp tho with the current clock speed...it's currently in idle.Vasudev likes this. -
How can I achieve those temps?
-
-
Clevo just got a better cooling solution...ok nice. I was kind of hoping that I will have the same temp. as in the guide...Alienware units seems to have a problematic heatsink but still manage to reach down to 30-40C.Vasudev likes this.
-
Perhaps clock down a few notches, from what allered run. Lower clock speed will provide lower temp
Vasudev likes this. -
Like I said earlier, @Papusan has room temps of below 20C all the time.
@Midas Touch: What's your ambient temp?Beemo likes this. -
Lowest is probably 896.7 Mhz and idle temp at around 50-55C
Sadly I don't have the device to measure ambient temp.
-
Even I don't have it, check local weather temp, add some 1-3 degress.
-
It says 31C added 3C = 34C
-
Then its great temps. Mine too hits 92C on stock fan from AW. No need to worry. Your PC temps will be <85C peak usage.
Also, every rise in 1C of room temp will increase cpu temps by 2-5C.Beemo likes this. -

All to low for 41x. Put max performance in Windows power plan. Not use balanced or other crippled homemade power settings. Below from my older 6700K. Lower 40x clocks but still higher Cinebench R15 score.
Beemo likes this. -
@Papusan
I always set my power plan to high performance...here's a different result:
-
Still low, but better. Maybe turn off bloat you have running in the background before test. Same for AV software.
-
I don't have any AV software...I used MSI Dragon Center...now this test right here I used ThrottleStop:
-
He meant you can turn off lot of services like BITS, WU to manual. Also disable NVidia telemetry and connected user experience & telemetry services in services.msc
Close web browser, manually stop XTU service and set to manual startup since it interferes with TS.Beemo likes this. -
Hey @Midas Touch, you can run benchmark and extreme tuning after a day or two. So, run basic tasks and gaming and you'll be fine.

Is the MSMG ToolKit can disable all those crap inside Windows 10?
-
That needs to be done when slipstreaming Windows with updates. I meant using Winaero Tweaker or O & O Shutup 10 to disable telemetry.Beemo likes this.
-
Thanks...is there a full blast guide out there to disable all the craps that we don't need in Windows 10? I have Winaero Tweaker right now...it's a handy tool...a handy tool indeed.Last edited: Jul 14, 2017

I used my own experience of tweaking windows. It has still bloatware intact but doesn't run most of the time. In winaero tweaker go to behaviour > Ads > Disable everything if you don't use Windows Spotlight.
Some guide I suppose: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3152...ize-your-windows-pc-with-winaero-tweaker.html
I added Power schemes to context menu, new share page, increased taskbar transparency and increased title window. and lot more. Winaero Tweaker doesn't backup those settings to ini file.Beemo likes this.
