As you can see, Crysis might not be as hardware demanding as you would think.... but will require at least a current mid-range videocard to play at low. My 1.5 year old notebook still plays it fine. And the DirectX9 still looks amazing.
Thoughts on differences between Beta and Official release:
- the game is still stunning in DX9
- the performance is still not as optimized as I would like (I have to set it to Low-Medium for good performance and quality)
- the Beta was much buggier (as expected) than the Official demo
- in the official demo, you can break trees and your arms pick up weapons and objects
- the demo was quite easy (even at highest difficult), the AI was not great, and the Beta gave you the ability to run and gun the entire thing... especially if you know how to use Cloak and switch to Strength to punch an enemy in the head.
I do not know if I want to purchase this game... maybe just to beat the Single Player campaign once... and mainly play the multi-player.... until cheaters appear (which they have already in the Beta).

i wonder if mine can play it on max?
-
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
You will. Gophn watch how much of a hit it takes when you play on high settings. Also I thought you can't post pics and vids of the beta. Also my wprime score is posted on notebook spped thread.
-
dude, according to Chaz u just posted a major violtaion of NDA....good luck, bet u guys will figure it out, though...lol
p.s. thanx for ur work -
-
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Thats weird. What about the dekstops 8800s struggling at high settings at 1900 x 1200. My 8600 runs ok at 1024 x 768 at medium settings.
-
just ran 3dmark06...got 7051...and that is schweet.
-
-
u just violated crysis nda, and can now be banned from incrysis or w.e.
just fyi.,, i could care less haha. thanks for the info =) -
what's nda by the way??

General NDA:
"A non-disclosure agreement (NDA), also called a confidential disclosure agreement (CDA), confidentiality agreement or secrecy agreement, is a legal contract between at least two parties that outlines confidential materials or knowledge the parties wish to share with one another for certain purposes, but wish to restrict from generalized use. In other words, it is a contract through which the parties agree not to disclose information covered by the agreement. An NDA creates a confidential relationship between the parties to protect any type of trade secret. As such, an NDA can protect non-public business information."

Basically you won't give away any information related to the beta essentially.
Edit: LMao v you beat me to it. -
lol, i gave u the credit for it tho
-
), etc. The game is extremely unoptimized at the moment, and they don't want people to get a bad impression... that kind of stuff.
Gophn, it'd probably be a good idea to take down those videos and pictures quick. They're really cracking down on NDA violators lately - they made a post on the official Crysis Beta forums about how they've banned 150 people so far. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Aye you did, time for bed though. Time to get those yucky crysis screeens out of my mind, filly them with nice fun Portal well optimized gameplay.
-
-
then how did i violate crysis nda???? i just posted my benchmarks...
-
For Portal: Watch this video and be amazed. -
-
lol it looks GREAT! i love challenges like these!
ORange Box, Unreal Tournament (the new one coming sometime) FTW! -
This is wierd... I downloaded it off fileplanet just now and the max resolution I can set is 1366x768...
I'm using 1280x800 atm because I can't find 1440x900 or 1680x1050... I'm using 163.71 drivers from laptopvideo2go with a Go7950GTX...
-
I'm going to submit a bug report about it today. -
and sometimes with display errors (such as some wierd yellow or black colors appearing on the screen)...
-
The game still looks gorgeous on low + PS3.0 -
-
Playing the beta myself. It runs well on my laptop, but it's not completely smooth. Not like Bioshock on max settings. Perhaps upgrading the GPU to a 7950 is the best way to go, and perhaps the only way to go.
Poor 7900 GS...just isn't cutting it anymore... -
the x3100 runs crysis at infinite fps with the new 15.6.1 vista driver.
-
yeah, so does my voodoo 2
-
dual 7950gtx or 7900gtx will play crysis on max (at 1680 x 1050 anyways)...i dunno what other people are trying to do.
-
My simple computer will run crysis at mid settings ? I will run at 15 fps ? 10 fps? -
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
I don't think high settings at 1280 x 1024 with the most powerful gpu is is what we should be striving for.
-
Crimsonman Ex NBR member
lol, no kidding
-
meh...im still waiting for alienware to hopefully release the mALX with 8800m sli...then i'll be good to go for a looooong time.
-
Right now I'm playing it at 1280X960 with reasonable framerates. Wish I could get it run smoother, but it won't right now. Hopefully the game will be further optimized to run better on my computer. Plus, I don't care much for any MP, so I guess I should really judge the performance when the SP Demo comes out in 22 days...
-
I hope they further optimise the engine/game as well, if they can optimize enough that a ddr2 8600m gt can pull average of 40 fps @1280 x 800 with medium/maybe a few high setting then they are on the right track to make big sells, because a 8600m gt really isn't all that powerful.
-
-
wow
you have dual 7950 gtx
whoopdy do
stop bragging
dual 7950 < single 8800gts
a desktop 7950 can be OCed where as yours are more limited
though 7950gtx is not weak, there is no way you can play crysis with all settings maxed (and i mean with AA maxed too) at 1680x1050 with 60+ fps or even 50... -
Most likely he won't be able to play on max as his CPU is the same as mine making it very CPU limited and with Crysis being very CPU demanding you begin to run into framerate issues. -
ShadowoftheSun Notebook Consultant
It's been stated that no computer that exists (including 2x 8800 GTX Ultra's, presumably) can run Crysis at is maximum settings. The developers themselves stated that "max" now is nowhere near the maximum capabilites of the game engine, and that when computers are finally able to take advantage of the "max" setting they will enable it.
-
true, i did not turn on AA...i don't really think it does too much. and you only need about 30+fps for most games as the human eye can't even detect 60fps...thats mostly just for statistics.
-
and i do not think i've actually "bragged" about having sli...its a notebook forum, i'm just telling it like it is.
-
i think gophn posted videos of Crysis on his notebook which he played at medium settings on a 7800gtx 256 at 1900x1200 res.....so i think it is quite logical for two 7900gtx's to play it on high at a lower resolution.
-
-
1920x1200, all high settings =
Prettiest slideshow EVER. -
i guess you definitely haven't played quake in which some moves require extremely high fps
2) aa doesn't do anything? o rly? guess you've a loose definition of jaggies; even at 1900x1200, they are still pretty evident. at 4x aa, much less so. beyond 8x, minor, 16 = smooooooth. 32x = theres a difference?
3) sure seems like you're very defensive about being accused of bragging since you posted 3 post consecutively defending
while i do think crysis is extraordinarily impressive, i'm starting to feel that it can no longer live up to the massive hype that people have created.
i think i look forward more to gears of war than to crysis... -
-
Nope, 60fps is in no way undetectable to the human eye. This argument has been had on this forum many, many times now, and the human eye can certainly detect at least up to 60fps. Above that, the refresh rate of your screen comes into play, so it gets more complicated.
