Good LORD people. Let's not hate on Alienware. They are nice laptops with powerful hardware, that just add a little style and bling to a gaming laptop. They are typically more expensive than comparable performing machines, but that doesn't mean we need to hate on them. They're a viable option for someone that has the money to spend and usually have a very solid build quality.

Is it true the G75 comes stock with 1366x768 screen

Asus has always had great value laptops with the mid range though.

Has to be a misprint. I seriously doubt they've changed from the 1080p screen to the 768p. I haven't found one online for sale with that res. Mine is 1920x1080, two months old.

I know, but it seems they do offer with 1366x768 , next to it also shows FHD, so stock must be 1366x768 with FHD as an option. Just hope some people don't end up with a 1366x768 17" screen! You must be able to see the individual pixels. It must be like Minecraft. :p

After doing some research on it, you're right. There are different screen res options for the laptop. Why that isn't listed is a little awkward I guess.

Why do we discuss "What to buy" theme in "Crysis 3"?
Maybe someone rename it in "Best laptop for 2100$ for Crysis 3?"

I take it the AMD 7970M should be able to handle Crysis 3 perfectly well, non?

With my specs (1366 x 768), crysis 2 with the high res textures, everything ultra, dx 11, I get 60fps (probably capped there) almost all the time except for some outdoor areas (where it will drop to the 30fps).

So 1 single 7970M (at stock clocks) isn't really enough to fully max out crysis 2.

My guess is that you will be able to play crysis 3 perfectly well, but not with everything maxed out.

Likewise. Only that Nexuiz, which like Crysis 3 is also based on Cry Engine 3, runs perfectly well maxed out w/o AA.

Just as an FYI, the trick isn't to fully max everything out. It is to enable those that give you the best experience. Several settings don't change much, definitely not enough to be noticeable if you are hunting for that alien or trying to dodge that incoming missile.

    /sarcasm on/

Wait, what? NO WAY! I ***MUST*** have SUPER HIGH ULTRA TEXTURES when I'm playing so I an admire the blades of grass with a slightly more defined texture for the half second before I get blown to smithereens.

    /sarcasm off/

Usually Ultra graphics are a marginal visual improvement over high settings but take a significant toll on the FPS. Hell, I played Crysis and Warhead on my 8600m GT with low settings and had a lot of fun.

Cannot wait for Crysis 3 , I hammered all the rest at maximum difficulty, Crysis 2 was my favorite though.

Playing the game on MAX settings makes the experience that much better... So yes, ultra is kinda a big deal for me. Since most last year model gaming systems can run off this years GPUs (i can only claim this for AW, since that is what i am familiar with), i'm sure the newest of machines will have that capability as well, so ultra will be obtainable.

That's for 3D, GTX670M can't handle 3D well at 1080p unless the game settings are aggressively lowered. It's a mid range GPU after all, compared to HD7970M/GTX680M.

    What is EWV?

It says FHD 3D LED Backlight, where FHD = Full HD = 1080p

My best friends cousins best friend is Avni Yerli, pretty wicked :p

    Also.. I wish :(

But I hardly think that Crysis will be nicer to the laptops than Crysis 1 and 2... No mobile GPU can run the game on ultra (excluding vBIOS modifications)

EWV is another name for 1366 x 768 like the FHD is another name for 1920 x 1080.

But you won't really find any articles explaining EWV because 1366 x 768 actually didn't have a name like the other resolutions do. It's possible that this name is only used in Asus when it comes to resolution standard. So I have no idea what is the full name for it too.

Also note that there's a "/" in between, there are 2 screens to choose from when it comes to 3D model, provide the reseller allows :D. When G73JW's 3D model was first launched, it only has EWV (1366 x 768) version for the 120Hz screen too, until the launch of G73SW they started to do FHD 120Hz screen support on their G series.
