I'm convinced it will be good and I'll like it, more so than any game I can remember. Could be I've set myself up for a fall but I have to say it's been nice to have a game out there that I was genuinely excited about; it's been a while.
-
Super amped for it, even holding off one buying other games just because I think this will take up all my free time for a while.
I'd really love to get a 3080 in prep for this game but looks like I'll have to play on a 2060 for a bit. 1st world problems I know.Viares Strake, JRE84, hfm and 1 other person like this. -

I'm having a hard time feeling bad about the crunch time brouhaha. It sounds like a lot of waa for people who have a substantial performance based bonus. Am I wrong?

(I don't mean this to sound condescending by any means, but one could equally turn that statement around, and say "I'm having a hard time feeling bad for gamers who have to wait longer for games. It sounds like a lot of waa for people who just want a luxurious plaything.")Last edited: Oct 8, 2020 -

It’s funny. The hours that the Internet is feigning outrage over look like a normal workweek for many Americans, and that’s without the generous overtime bonuses that CDPR is offering...

The performance based bonus is 10% divided among them; that isn't going to be chicken scratch with this game, it's going to be real money. Detriment to health doesn't sell to me, if these were drones on a fixed salary and being forced to work draconian hours without any extra pay it might resonate but we're talking hours that would be a piece of cake for most of the world that isn't completely entitled and they're going to be making a serious chunk of money from those hours.

this will not exactly be a kid friendly game with all the hookers and such.....anyone got a video showing the otherside of things

It's a CDPR game, ofc it won't be kid friendly.
-
hahahlol...yeah I know but how many kids will play it though. I see another gta v boycott esque thing happening
-
Here's the detailed ESRB rating for the game. Definitely not something for young kids. https://www.esrb.org/ratings/36949/Cyberpunk+2077/
On a related point, CPDR has had to make some cosmetic adjustments to the game for its Japanese release. In Japan, some of the game's most extreme gore will be censored, as will genital nudity. Source: https://www.newsbreak.com/news/1593...irms-cyberpunk-2077-will-be-censored-in-japan
I wonder if CPDR will include extreme gore/nudity filters as options for players to toggle on/off in other regions, since they've already had to create a cosmetically censored version for Japan.Last edited: Oct 11, 2020cucubits likes this. -
good observation.
I think it will have a toggle but its just a guess and up in the air, either way this game is looking good and should be worthy of the 80 dollar price tag -
There are also other markets that often have localized/censored versions; Australia comes to mind in the English speaking world and there are several others in Asia along with Japan. The game is very clearly not for kids censored or not but I would agree a toggle or two seems likely considering the investment is already there supporting it.

It does look like it's going to be awesome. It's been quite a while since a good GTA game was out. I remember how much fun I've had with V. Man I loved Trevor.
Graphics aside, I do hope there will be more to this game than just focus on cars and driving around. I guess I imagined it being somewhat closer to Blade Runner scenery but it looks like it's not quite that far out.
Also, I've said it before... I will be disappointed if no player controllable flying cars/planes will be in the game. -
Cars were focused on here but they're a tangent to the core gameplay, Roach on steroids so to speak. I personally hope they stay away from the GTA model as much as possible in the actual game on terms of how it plays out. I'm thinking The Witcher but with guns in the Cyberpunk world based on the in game sequences.
-
Deus Ex, yeah, that would work. I'm not against GTA as it's fun enough for a play through but it lacks substance I'm hoping for here. It would be hard in any event to out GTA, GTA,. it's well done even if it's not my favorite game.

But from these last videos, it sadly does seem to have a very GTA like vibe. I don't know what to say, I also hope it won't be GTA with more lights and futuristic stuff.

The gunplay and choices you make im sure will make it feel different. -
I wouldn't worry about it too much, people called RDR "Grand Theft Horse" and Witcher 3 is a departure from that. There will be character/weapon/skill customization a plenty. I think over time the lines are burring to some extent between GTA style games and first person RPG style games since the Deus Ex vs GTA3 days of old as they both evolve to incorporate some of the things the other does. It seems to have plenty to set it apart and have a style and gameplay element of it's own.

I still think if you consider the first game play demo that is probably the most accurate look at the game in terms of how it's going to play. Promotional videos are advertisements and you have to expect they're going to put out materials that may speak to a broad spectrum of gamers. They'd be foolish to ignore the GTA types or any other potential customers. The cars aren't how the game plays out though, you can see that in the original demo. The story, the actions you take, they way you evolve your character, these things are at the core of the material. The cars are just a mini-game and like all mini--games you can take them or leave them as suits your preferences.
-
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
I hope cars will deform and handle more or less adequately, unlike GTA V which is simply ridiculous in both regards.
-
Yeah, I understand for some the cars and driving them are an attraction and I hope they have something savory on offer for those that want it. I don't begrudge my fellow gamers their fix!

I read the pundits are expecting this to be among the top selling games of all time. Seems to me hard to believe it could best GTA and other mega sellers but I can easily imagine it doing very well. One month to go...
-
Also Assassin's Creed Valhalla is supposed to come out around then so November sure is starting to look busy. At least we'll have option in case something goes very wrong with Cyberpunk.

I wonder if they have no project management going on or that communication is so poor that it doesn't matter. I mean, things like what is described above should never happen if it's properly project managed. The upper management would know what the status of the game is, and any projected deadline slips, and the workers would understand where they are at and how they can get there. It doesn't solve all problems but should keep there from being such huge disconnects between management expectations and worker output.

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
For me the delays are not the issue, but, like I've already previously said many times, I just wish they would stop this erratic behavior. "It will come out in April. Not anymore, it's September now. Oh, how about November? No, no, no, it's December now." Just. Stop. It. IMO, "when it's done" is a better release date than these constant delays. You get your hopes up, like literally I was kinda hyped right now again, "OMG, less than a month!!!" and now boom!
Again, I don't much care for the delays, I have tons of other stuff to play and do, but it got a bit old and annoying right now... Wish they would do more planning and thought things through before throwing another blind release date at us. People are waiting, they shouldn't treat their fans like that.Porter likes this. -

No chance we're seeing this in 2020. They shouldn't provide release dates or set false expectations. They should have stuck to the 'it'll be released when its ready' rather than this ****show. I've cancelled my pre-order, I know it'll make zero difference but it makes me feel a little better.

I don't know why people get so upset about a delay on a game? It's not like the date it releases actually matters.
