Just installed now, gonna do some performance and heat testing.![]()
-
sweet thank for the notify
-
3dMark06 performance dropped by a relatively insignificant 1%. Despite that, I don't know if it's a placebo effect or whatnot, but the visuals themselves seemed to look a little bit....cleaner? Perhaps minimum framerate improved, will have to check with some games.
Furmark stressing seems to produce pretty much the same temps at the same rate of increase.
Crysis benchmark seems to confirm my previous theory:
@1024x768 High settings in DirectX10:
DOX 182.05 Performance:
Average FPS: 32.12
Minimum FPS: 15.77
Maximum FPS: 43.56
DOX 182.46:
Average FPS: 32.08
Minimum FPS: 19.42
Maximum FPS: 44.28 -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
These drivers gave new life to my 9200m gs and are a substantial improvement over 182.05, at least for me.
-
-
The image quality is definitely improved over 182.05 Performance. These are just 1366x768 medium settings screens compressed into jpegs, and they still look good..

sweet. Time for an upgrade. I'm still running the vanilla 185.20 drivers
-
I don't think I can ever go back to vanilla drivers after using the last few DOX releases >_>
It helps that I seem to be lucky about some of the sleep mode/powermizer issues some users have. -
Just installed these (Dox 182.46) on my 9800M GTS, and played Fallout 3 for about an hour and a half.
Framerate felt smoother, certainly in Megaton.
Also, when in the Wastelands, with a high cut-off distance, there is no noticeable slowdown compared to interior levels.
Good job Dox -
Would this be better than Nvdia's 179.48?
maybe it's time for me to update also? -
I can't say whether other games have the same results, but it was enough for me to make the jump.
I also have no issues with extra heat production. Games top out at 86C like they've always done since I reflashed my GPU.
Remember to uninstall in safe mode and use Driver Sweeper, everyone!Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
Thanks CA36GTP !!
I'm sold ~~
It's time for me to try out Dox 182.46 -
for updateing i just need to dl and install the new driver right? no uninstall needed ? already have the dox 182.50 (or what ever the previous dox driver was called
)
-
nope..
uninstall it.. go into safe mode and use driversweeper to clean leftovers..
then install new driver.. -
I do the uninstall in safe mode right before driver sweeper, it saves a little bit of time. Then I reboot in normal mode and install the drivers.
I believe DOX said some versions of his drivers can just be installed on top of, but I do the complete clean install anyway just to be safe. -
I highly recommend for this release you clean uninstall previous drivers even if you were using mine.
Its annoying I know but its for your own good. -
I figured as much considering you tossed out the entire profile system. Thanks for the clarification, Dox.
-
i too had a slight decrease in fps but it looked much better.
another great release. thanks dox -
What's the purpose of uninstalling drivers completely before installing the new one? I've never uninstalled the previous driver, and it still works fine.

I might have to check this one out, and yeah i've never uninstalled a driver first and I've never run into any problems
-
Thank you DoX i will give these a try in a minute
YOU ARE THE BEST MODDER I KNOW -
So happy Dox is back, great work man!
-
great work man! it seemed to have lowered my load temps!
-
I want to try these out; I'm currently using Dox 181.22 and I love it. Do these drivers break WHQL?
-
-
These drivers are looking better and better. Doom 3 benchmark @ 1366x768 with Ultra High settings is at 100FPS, up from the mid 80s with the 182.05 drivers.
Again, it seems to be mainly because the minimum FPS is so much more stable. Fantastic stuff!
-
Hmm, I'll guess I'll test these in Win 7.
@ terminus: The upcoming GTX cards are already supported in 179.27 -

didn't mention the GTX 280m or 260m. -

Will there be even more improvement after cleaning old drivers than overlapping the current drivers? -
im loving 181.22 , probably won't switch.
-
Unfortunately for me, I'm using Windows 7, and these 179 NV drivers are terrible outside of Vista. I'm talking a -50% hit to my framerate in Dawn Of War II, compared to 182.06. -
nice driver dox. lowered my temps too =)
-
Thanks for the driver, will check it out later.
-
BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
gotta try these >_>
-
I removed certain file from installation, and by cleanly removing all traces from previous drivers means that there wont be a mix match. -
will i be able to overclock with these drivers on my hp?
previously the only drivers that allowed the hp gpu to oc were 169.04 and 182.05 -

It's overclockable most definetly, hell I got a real nice boost switching from the current Nvidia drivers to the new DOX driver in my Lost Planet DX10 1920 x 1080 benchmark studies. Very impressed.

Hey, anybody know if this includes the Tom Clancy Hawx SLI profile as mentioned that was added to these:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261595-33-nvidia-beta-drivers-hawx-enable-profile
I installed these new Dox drivers, and I can't get SLI to work in Hawx. -

Using this driver, my idle temp is 76 degrees. I dont know if its normal?
-
What was it at before? That seems really high for idle.
-
Sweet driver. My frame rates nearly doubled in Portal from 70FPS to 120FPS. O_O
-
Great drivers thx Dox! However every time I reboot my display keeps resetting to 1680x1050 and then I have to go into 'Display Settings' and slide it back to 1920x1200. What can I do to stop this? Thanks!
-
did you disable the nvidia driver service?
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
So I am confused on putting the dox or use the Nvidia one? -
What do you now reach under heavy load?
-

Going from Dox 180.70 to the new Dox driver improved my DMC4 benchmark readings by 2-5fps average. On the last reading I'd see averages of 25-30fps however with this driver I can see consistent 30fps readings on all tests.
-
this driver is OMG GREAT!!!! I got like 4100 pts (rounded up) on 3Dmark06 and i think my fps on Crysis got a boost of 5fps.
Great drivers for the 8400M GT! Try em out! -
1st up two thumbs up Dox, thanks for your efforts, much appreciated.
FWIW my temp has jumped too with 182.46.
I haven't had any time to do much gaming yet so I did a clean install and have been stress testing with 3d mark 06.
With oc'ed 185.20 idle 57c and stressed at 76c then drop to 70c then rise .....
Now no oc 182.46 idle 65c and stressed 80c for longer periods.
I know it's not a heap but it has got me a bit concerned.
If I choose to rollback can I do a system restore to 185.20 or should I do a clean install?
DOX 182.46 Optimized drivers now available
