yup, best port till date, and hey Halogod, get Nhancer if you already dont have it. it has a Profile for DMC4, just add the .exe file of the trail to the profile and enjoy the boost![]()
btw for everybody out there, try your best to play on super high shadows even if you had to lower the textures, it really eliminate the jaggies and has not that big performance hit
-
I found the link where you can download this game:
http://gamedaily.newaol.com/pub/DevilMayCry4_Trial.exe -
-
it IS actually fixed, i get 20-30 FPS Extra using Nhancer, your problem is that the driver doesnt have a SLI profile, because the one your driver have is based on lost Planet's profile, but Nhancer has the right one. if you dont like Nhancer then wait for the next lineup of drivers
-
i see, thanks alot for clearing that up. I still got over 60 with max settings using one card lmao, these GTX's wont give up
-
ofcourse they wont
btw, did you see any huge difference in DX9 VS DX10 when you are playing everything on super high?
EDIT: i totally forgot about Turbo mode.. Man it rocks! -
Surprisingly, though I get a D on the benchmark, I can still run the game with detail and shadow on super high without any real slowdown. Well, at least in the parts playable in the demo. Maybe in the main game or bloody palace I'd see some.
-
your slowdown will be on Bloody Palace and Legendary Dark Knight mode only, otherwise everything will be Silk smooth
-
10 min demo for how many GB?
-
800 mb for the demo only, 1.3gb for the demo + benchmark, you can always play the part when you kill the frosts and the boss berial without being bound to 10 mins, but its shorter since the 10 mins gameplay features the whole first stage i think
-
For my desktop i use dx10 max settings with 70+ frames. However, my laptop hates dx10, so for my laptop i used dx9, 1280x800, fully maxed out settings, all super high with 0 AA, and i get 40+ frames, not too bad, but dx9 helps 10+ frames if your running on a laptop gpu
-
mm i mean Visual differences. or its just the "DX10" blurr?
-
i compared both dx9 and dx10 and see no difference. I mean the shadowing may be a little more crisp in dx10, but thats not worth 10 frame hit
-
Alright thanks for the feedback HaloGod
-
Oh man, this game is AMAZING with the Wiimote. Has anyone tried it? It works perfectly imo. Are there any programmers who know how to enable the rumble to the Wiimote?
-
the Rumble doesnt even on work on gamepads yet, its a demo limitation, i guess on full version things will get more better, and i'm actually impressed that it played on the wiimote o_0
-
yea ive tested the game with my wireless xbox 360 controller for windows and it rumbles, but other gamepads dont yet
-
I want screenies, right now my dwl is rather slow(30-50KB) so I want to make sure it's worth it...

Try downloading it from Fileshack, it's about 20 times faster.

Settings : 1280 x 800
Everything Very High, all options on, Vsync and AA turned off.
Runs like a dream (demo), mostly around 40-50fps, sometimes (when there are alot of mobs fighting you) drops to 30'ish.
nVidia 8600M GT, DDR2. 169.04 drivers and a small overclock. -

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Overclocked 8600 ddr2 can run it all on high at 1680x1050 at about 30 fps.

Uhm, screenies?

i have a vostro 1500 with a T7100 & 8600m gt @ stock clocks
maxed out in 1024x768 fps:35-60
maxed out at 1280x1024 fps:23-50
i cant spot the difference between the 1024 & 1280 res as im using an external crt screen
great performanceand the gfx are better than gears IMO, so its really well optimised i think it will run well even on low end cards too
maxed out @1024x768
maxed out @1280x1024
-
as i said before, thats the most optimized Port ever made
-
Is this demo the same one as the one of X360?
-
So....its a ten minute demo..only?
-
There's two modes. One has the 10 minute limit, the other doesn't.
-
I'm guessing the other only has 4 scenes?
-
By the way there are trainers out there which removes the 10 minutes timer so you can play as long as you want to.
-
removing the 10 minutes is useless to me == after you exit the big door, ur in the level with snow which the 2nd mode
-

Well for Brea at least...not me....yet

I'm surprised DMC4 doesn't natively work in SLI. On my Crossfire rig it pretty much maxes out both cards in the benchmark: 1920x1200, 8xAA, everything Super High and it barely ever dips under 40 and usually sits pretty happily between 70-80fps.
The Way It's Meant To Be Played indeed. -
it does support SLI, but the thing is you have to do a profile for it, i get 75% increase in FPS with it, check my Preview for the benchmark

I said "doesn't natively work in SLI," not "doesn't work in SLI."
I didn't have to profile it or do anything, I just popped it open and it worked flawlessly in Crossfire. -
probably you are using the latest cats?
cause my driver isnt the newest you know ^^ -

thank god its not coming out the demo is terrible. just rapidly tap x and defeat random monsters. the game has no soul.
-
The game isn't about simply killing the monsters. Also, the game is probably set on normal. On the higher difficulty levels, you can't rapidly tap x to win. Have you played the boss battle? I doubt you could just run up and spam x. Anyway it's sounds like you aren't a DMC fan. I think Ninja Gaiden would be more up your path. Check out NGB or Sigma. I've heard bad things about the sequel with people saying the first one was better. Well, everyone has different tastes.
-
DMC is all about killing with style and enjoy the action

I've never played any of the other games in the series, so this demo was my first foray into the DMC franchise.
The first thing I did was fire up the benchmark in DX10 mode. My desktop's "aging" 640MB eVGA GeForce 8800GTS shows that it certainly isn't top-of-the-top anymore, turning in an average of ~56 fps on tests 1 and 3, and ~38 fps on tests 2 and 4 at 1680x1050, all details Super High, 4x MSAA, DX10 mode. Though this equates to a "C", there was never a drop below 30 FPS at any time. Dialing down to DX 9.0c mode and dropping the MSAA yielded an "A": 75 FPS avg on test 1, 91 fps avg on test 3, ~54 fps avg on test 2 and 4. Not bad performance all-in-all, especially since the engine looks absolutely amazing. I've never seen graphics this good...perhaps Crysis's are more "technically advanced" but DMC4's are certainly the most awe-inspiring I've seen to date, due in large part to some of the best art direction I've seen since American McGee's Alice.
Also, for giggles, I installed the benchmark on my ThinkPad. Shockingly, it pulls out a consistent 30+ FPS at 1024x600 with medium-ish settings, while still looking great despite being out of native resolution. Crysis, for the record, was lucky to ever put out above 25 FPS on my ThinkPad at the same resolution and all lowest settings. The only gripe I have in terms of the engine is that it's clearly only capable of utilizing two cores - my Phenom X4 capped out at 54% utilization at hovered around 42% for most of the benchmark and my play time. Not that this is a unique problem to this game - I'm currently re-installing BioShock to test it but as of yet I haven't found a game that puts me past 50% usage continuously, despite Valve's (obviously erroneous) claims TF2 can utilize as many cores as you have.
Of course all the "ooh ahh" graphics in the world mean nothing if the gameplay sucks (*cough*Crysis*cough*). I have to say the fights are a vast improvement over a typical run-and-gun shooter, both in depth and in "wow factor." Certainly it's a fun experience, but....the control are absolutely terrible. I don't own a gamepad - I'm a CS:S/UT/C&C/SC (read: PC) kind of gamer for the most part, and gamepads are basically just hands-down bad for shooters and RTSes. WoW, my other big-ticket game, is equally keyboard-and-mouse dependent. But I've got some points over at the Live Search Club (hooray for too much free time in lectures and at airports) and I'll most definitely be redeeming them for an X-Box 360 controller (since I'll be getting a 360 eventually anyways I think, killing two bird with one stone).
Basically, this game has incredible potential to be downright kick-ass with a good controller. It's a shame they couldn't be bothered to implement some sort of system to use the mouse in place of the thumbstick like in some other games; requiring a gamepad will hold back the market of the game somewhat, and frankly, it's a shame something like that will when the graphics engine finally won't. -
I've had the demo for the day, it doesn't look half bad on my half system despite the 25-30 average fps. It's crashed twice on me on DX9 mode though (although DX10 is stable but slower on performance).
Never played the franchise before since I don't own consoles but the control scheme is obviously better suited to gamepads. It is possible to pull off some of the more stylish moves seen on youtube videos with the keyboard but it requires a lot of practice and some button mashing. -
I think this is her best vid from DMC3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeA7wWSLlVw
Definitely worth a look. -

I strongly suggest you keep fanboyism and direct insults to other board members to a minimum.
The mods don't take kindly to that around here.
