In the fourth (maybe fifth) secret mission, how in the heck do you get a style rating without attacking?
-
dodging can get you ranked up fast , and taunting aswell. just do dodge dodge then taunt
-
well never been a console gamer
impressive as it is, all this stupid flying catching lanterns puzzles got on my nerves. enough.
-
Oh DMC, when will you learn that platforming in your games usually sucks.
So far I'm really enjoying the game. I think it might have the same addictiveness of DMC3. I clocked in an unhealthy amount of hours in DMC3 and DMC3 SE. I still haven't gotten down doing exceeds after every move. Right now I'm focusing on just getting the attacks and learning the enemies before I try fancy stuff. By the way, this is a GREAT port.
Brainer: How's the review coming? -
Is it really necessary to instant rev every single attack with Nero? Or do players do it for the style points? -
Just finished the game.... loved it!
-
@ Prasad, the game has just beguntry the Legendary dark knight mode, i'm trying to do full HP runs before i do the review. its damn hard. there was once a scene that i could swear there was like 100 enemies
-
Exceed is extremely useful beyond doing extra damage. I don't think the extra damage is a trivial amount either. -

You have no idea how much I hate that room as both Nero and Dante. I'm going to try timing the trickster dodges later to see if they get through there. I think I remember them working for the needle rooms in DMC3.

Been going back and forth from COD4, UT3 & DMC4.
I think I should save DMC4 for when I am at work and play on my laptop but then I have to pack up my 360 controller too.
Game is just awesome with graphics, its challenging enough on normal to be a challenge but not impossible. I died quite a few times, especially against bosses. I dont seem to be as good at this one as the older one. It was the first or 2nd game I played and I was a MASTER at combo's always a high rating and killing things fast, but I find myself being clumbsy in this game often not doing the move I want to do and my combo's not working right.
Now the other day I found out about instantrev and spend a whole day just trying to master that, and its so hard! just doing a combo and trying to rev after every attack on no enemy was a challenge but when you go to do it to an enemey it never works right, plus seems like the faster combo's are too fast for you to get the rev in there, adding the rev will make the slower combo happen instead.
Im also going to try to swap my controlls so I can learn to charge my gun while fighting. I only have charged shot 2 right now and already I can see its power but I read in a FAQ that charged shot 3 owns all and that learning to fight while charging it at all times will really pay off, killing almost any enemy and taking a whole bar of hp from a boss.
Im only on mission 5 I think, and wow do I hate those flying grim reaper ghost things, go back to harry potter!
Also anybody thing the whole instant rev thing is a copy off of final fantasy 8? Gunblade anyone? -
Yeah, I'd swap controls with Nero right away. CS3 is really as good everyone says it is. It makes the Blue Rose the best firearm in the game. Well at least I think it is. However, I still like playing as Dante much more. When I play as him, I seem to just flow better. More like DMC3 than with Nero. Too bad, Dante isn't supposed to be good in Bloody Palace. I've heard that you really have to use Nero with CS3, ample DB usage, and Max Act.
ViciousXUSMC: If you played DMC1 or 2 before, the combo system wasn't really the same. It was much easier to rack up high style points in those games. With DMC3, they tweaked the style gauge and made it so you really had to mix things up (unless you jump canceled). Plus, there were more moves in DMC3. DMC1 barely had any moves compared to DMC3. -
Bah sorry guys, the review has to wait till tomorrow, because the local shop promised me it'll be available today, when i come to the shop, he started telling me some crap about the game is unavailable and stuff
-
Are you going to marathon the game before you review?
-
yeah i will be doing that
it wont take much time since ive mastered all the previous ones very well, i'm trying to do the review under the light of legendary dark knight mode.
-
Dang... Lucifer's move where you throw out swords in front of you is actually really good. In my opinion, it may even be better than a distorted real impact since a real impact leaves you open, needs charging, and generally only hits one person.
-
but you will have a combo fest
-
-
Ok... ive just the game 2 hours ago, and now i have defeated Credo on devil hunter difficulty. i cant imagine how easy the human mode is.. its easier than DMC3, hopefully after the game gets completed i'll get the harder modes, anyway i think i'll be completing it by tomorrow, since its midnight now
-
Yeah there's harder modes (come on now, it's DMC we're talking about
). There's Son of Sparda, DMD/NMD, Heaven or Hell (okay not really harder, but it might be because some enemies have shields, aka Blitz), and Hell and Hell (or is it Hell or Hell?). In HH, you die in one hit, but the enemies don't. I believe the enemies have the same health as in SoS.
Real impact is only good against single enemies or spaced out enemies. I find pin up spam to be better for the reasons I listed earlier. However, against bosses, a distorted real impact will beat pin up spam. That's not to say the pin up spam won't do great damage.

-
So which difficulty name is the hardest? I only have up to Son of Sparda.

i did get to the first half of the game, this one is pretty easy if you have Played the Previous DMC3 on extreme difficulties,
but i really love Credo as a boss in DMC4, his moves are cool -
Playing the game right now, I just done fighting Bael and so far I'm not impressed.
-
When will that review be finished Brainer? Is it really necessary to beat the game on all difficulty levels before it's fit to be reviewed? Gamespot review of the PC version is already out and more than half of it seems a copy and paste job from the earlier console version.
-
lol nope.. its just i'm having issues with Fraps, i'm gonna record and do everything within the next 12 hours.
-
Devil May Cry 4.
