ha...for sure bro!
PS...i'm levelling my wiz. At lvl 52. Going with a frost nova/crit build...but at lvl 52 its hard to pull it off....so i'm getting my butt handed to me regularly. I may need to go with a more traditional build until i hit lvl 60.

Its really dependent on crit and for sure its really hard to get your crit up to at least 25-30% and APOC to at least 15 at level 50s as crit/APOC values in gear go up the higher the item level of the gear is. Its gonna be hard to procc crit and regen AP at that level.
Maybe if you could find some item lvl 61 gear with reduction in level requirement as it has the values of a 60 gear. That's how I leveled my DH from level 46, I got most of my gears as lvl 60 up with lvl rqmt reduction.
This way also, you dont need to change gear from your current level up to 60. I even used them for Act 1 while saving for better gears. -
at least it's one of the few games where you can recoup your money and more. I've made ~$1000 off the RMAH. Not bad for a $60 game.
-
You don't need more than 10 APoC. I have been running the WW/CM crit build for roughly 2 months now, I have all of inferno on farm -- I do act 2 simply because of the massive amounts of elite in areas such as VoTA>Bcm>DO. I almost never die, and I facerolled Diablo rather easy.
The key is Armor (10k + buffed) and atleast 1200-1300 All resist. HP anywhere over 18k. LoH is also very important if you want to play fast, I have 950 LOH.
Remember damage mitigation is far better than HP, and creates an EHP (Effective Health Pool -- Diablo 3 and Effective Health | Tank Hard)
Here is my build,character,gear:

the upcoming legendary patch looks pretty awesome
-
I'm just at act. 1 Inferno and it's nice to be here.. So far my DH is at 76K DPS, 3600 armor in single player. The most expensive item in gold that I've purchased at the AH was for 150K in gold. The game is still great.
-
I guess I should say I'm still more of a melee dps wiz than a pure tank wiz. 10 apoc isn't enough for me, I think I have 18 right now. I tend to really spam energy twister. I can't play with 15k dps specially in act 3 and 4. It takes so much time to kill. I have about 40k dps when in melee build. I only have 600 res buffed, less armor as I use a source. I still die maybe once or twice from insane elites but I can kill fast.
It still depend on each person's play style. I'm on my range gear and specs so I can't show what I use when melee type.

Legendary blog revealed! The legendary items are looking better. >_< Somewhat wanting to play again.

Good to see they are making some progress patch wise, I sunk 150 hours into it and quit after I made my money back plus a little extra

15k dps? ya, that would take way too long to kill anything. 15k dps in act3/4 inferno will require huge amounts of sustainability...for example 1500-2000 loh or similar.
My wiz will be similar to yours...but i was playing my barb yesterday. As you know, i cracked and played a WW/tornado build for the first time yesterday...and i have to say, it is completely OP'ed lol...it was a lot of fun. Changed my config slightly...at a loss of 300 loh and 135 strength, i raised my Crit to 43% to proc my fury gen. And man, it was so much fun, i feel like playing barb again
Thanks for the heads up...i'm going to check it out
EDIT: Here is a link to the legendary items preview....LOOKS AMAZING!!! I actually want legendary items now!

Thanks...looks like the barb is going to get some really overpowered (OP'ed) skills lol
ok, i think i'm liking this patch
And thank goodness they arent nerfing the WW/tornado builds...i just started one for the first time yesterday and i can confirm that it is completely OP'ed...and completely fun

The Wizard improvements are out.

I like their idea on buffing the other hydras instead of nerfing one hydra into oblivion. This is the type of changes that I like.
Fighting OP with OP.
-
SlickDude80 Notebook Prophet
nerfing the twister's proc to 0.125 kinda sucks to all the frost nova/crit wiz's...oh well -
I'm thinking/hoping this is not really going to gimp WWWiz. At current proc rate, we can basically spam DS and Nova immediately within a sec with enough mobs. I guess this nerf will make us manage the timing better/carefully. Gone are the days of mindless spamming of DS/Nova because its available for spamming lol! Although this might (not sure) affect not only the cooldowns but also the proccing of LOH and AP on crit from Energy Twister.
-
SlickDude80 Notebook Prophet
50% nerf to WW proc % is HUGE.
If you had 50% crit, you now have 25%...if you had 30% CC, you're now at 15%. WW isn't a viable option now...perhaps Blades with bleeding and meteor is the way to go now. -
Your chance to crit will not change. Only Energy Twister is nerfed. But I get your point that the chance to Proc CM is reduced to half.
But what I'm saying is at current proc rate of .25 for ET, it is too OP. The reduction in cooldown is normally even faster than a 1 sec global cooldown with sufficient mobs. If it takes 1 sec to reset the CD of Nova and DS then maybe now it will take 2 secs. So its still possible that DS and Nova is still up by the time the CD resets.
I think if you have 35% crit, its not going to be that bad. I have an MF gear that has 25% crit and I can play Act 2 with it (havent tried it in 3). I can feel the slower proccing but its manageable. Maybe it will go down to that level. Maybe if we can faceroll Act 4 before, now we can only do it in Act 3 and will have to play wiser in 4.
We'll have to see though. We can only assume for now
Edit: I am actually more concern about the APOC. I only have 2 items with APOC. ET nerf will affect APOC also so I guess I have to increase it by looking for a weapon with APOC. I'm also thinking if going back to spectral blades (since its not nerfed) will be better due to nerf on ET. I used to use SB before I switched to ET for a melee wiz and it also viable.
Also we have to remember, Explosive Blast with Chain Reaction isnt nerfed. It also crit and procs CM. -

it is scary that i can read what you wrote and i understood everything...i think i'm spending too much time playing D3 lol
well...by the time my wiz hits 60, patch 1.0.4 will be in and i'll probably go with a kiting build and use the buffs that they made.
The first time i saw a crit/frost nova build and everything just froze on the screen, i was like "Damn, that wiz is tanking better than my barb". you knew a nerf was coming, it was just a matter of time -
Lol I read it after posting and I was scared too hahaha! I didnt know I cant write things like this. Then I edited and added more.
SMH! (Lol didnt know that F ML is censored) -

I'm going back to my old build. Through much experimentation, the barb WW/Tornado build is far from being OP'ed. This is probably why Blizz did not nerf it. Its good and its fun, but it has so many weaknesses especially against molten, arcane and poison elites in act 3/4. The idea of the typical WW/nado build is to use crit to generate fury which will keep you spinning, sprinting and dropping tornados down...plus the crit will keep your beserker alive forever (as long as there are monsters standing in your tornados). But i found that i was dying too much in act 3-4 against certain elite prefixes. The big thing for me was that the tornado builds lack Overpower/crushing advance. This skill is critical for survival in act3-4 against the elites that spam ground effects all over...crushing advance makes the barb essentially immune to fire and poison. And with the -1 second cooldown per crit hit, you can spam this skill over and over. I can stand in Ghom's poison cloud all day with this skill and not die
This was the WW/tornado build i used:
Barbarian - popular double tornado WW build - Diablo III
I've now gone back to my old build...furious charge imo is better than WW:
Barbarian - OP'ed Charge/tornado build - Diablo III
I miss how easy this build makes this game for me...ran through act 3 last night and i didn't die once, and i didn't skip any elites
one other thing that is good going back to my old build:...with the WW/nado build, you had to bring your crit% up as high as possible. I had it as high as 43% but at the expense of LOH, armor and strength
With the charge/nado build, i have swapped back equipment, lowering my crit to 28% but at higher strength, loh and armor which is giving me huge sustainability in the higher acts -

WOW...more patch 1.0.4 news: Blizzard just added another 100 levels for you to attain on your character and in one fast swoop, they have essentially made all gold find and magic find equipment worthless:

When is this patch coming out? I may have to start playing again...
-
Time for some D3 "Baal run" kind of stuff. They keep saying they don't want D3 to be a remade of D2, but seem like they are turning D3 into D2 now.
-
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
That paragon system is awesome IMHO. Awesome move by blizzard to slowly replace gear dependency across all spectrums with time and leveling. Basically as long as you keep playing, even with so so gear, your stats will slowly increase, magic find will increase, and eventually you will progress regardless of gear while gaining better chances of items dropping and at a faster rate of clearing. Good stuff IMHO.
-
The Paragon system is pretty awesome. They did good with these changes. It gives users a goal to "achieve". Level 60 grind for items was useless without some sort of goal. I'm digging the skill rebalancing!
-
1.0.4 just went live.
-
Yeah I actually like it quite a lot, but must admit now the skills actually make logical sense, damn that OP-ness
-
Anyone still play this game? I've got 5 legendaries on this new patch, a sick amulet and this: http://i47.tinypic.com/2cqcrqq.jpg
Hasn't been more epic. Looking for a decent new Skorn legendary 2hander on the AH atm.
-
Honestly I always assume the client performance will be well performed on our end but the server side latency will always affect Diablo 3 gameplay especially at peak playing hours : /. Basically if your playing hardcore, make sure your in a group or playing during time slots where less people are likely online.
-
Most of the rare kind of become worthless ~~
-
Now i gotta farm my Monk gear all again, what bumps me is that I thought patch 1.0.4 wont be coming for some time, and I bought a new weapon for around 240k gold from the AH 2 weeks earlier T_T
-
I have been playing. Lvl 44 monk in act II nightmare.
Post 1.0.4 I have noticed an increase in the volume and quality of rare drops.
I have not had any legendary drops period so I am disappointed with that.
I have never had a set drop which pisses me off. I struggle to understand how the devs can be stupid enough to make set item drops so rare that they never actually happen. The point of set items is that they are most useful when you acquire the entire set.
I'd slap the crap out of the persons face who decided to make set item drop so rare if I got the chance. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
set items give bonuses when you use multiples of them, but they're generally not as effective as high end rare / legendary items
-
Some of the new set items are absolutely unreal. The chest piece I posted earlier sold for 264mil so I am pretty damn ecstatic about that, oh and I've had 3 more legendaries drop since then, one of which sold for 23mil. Once you start leveling your paragon, you should see the great drops
-
WOW!! I'd love to have that lol.
Where are you doing the most farming at? I've not had anything really good drop for a while.
-
Wow, GeoCake, it seems you are having fun with D3.
I keep dying at A2 Inferno on my monk. :/
-
Surprised I'm not bored yet. But all it takes is one lucky drop...
I farm Act 3 Siegebreaker/Cydea/Azmodan mainly, loads of elites, loads of trash, less annoying enemies and 3 big bosses. If you're on the EU server, add me: Geo#2494 -
Sadly, I am on the NA server. I think it's probably cause I chose the Monk, I find the Demon Hunter to be more versatile and mobile, but I'm just too lazy to play it.
-
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I'm on the US server.
lol
-
My Demon Hunter is just at the start of Act.2 Inferno. ..And yes, it is getting harder.
Although my DH is sitting at 112 K DPS at the moment through buying stuff at the AH using gold. At the moment I need more vitality, armor, resist all elements; More DPS would be nice also, around 120 K.
I see the stuff at the AH, and I'm looking around 1-2 million gold for each crossbow or armor etc. I'm farming act. 1 inferno at the moment using a scoundrel follower with gold find. -
After seeing the huge difference in characters with gear that would cost over 300 million in gold... I just know that me getting past inferno isn't possible with what I have no. I can do act 2 inferno without a problem at all. Act3, is completely different.
If anyone wants to take a look at my Monk, and give me some advice.. I'd love it and appreciate it greatly.

I just spent 32 million gold on the two gems that i put in my Manticore -- that I paid 100 million for, 240k is nothing, you can make that in one hour just farming gold and vendoring.
At this point if you have been playing since release and still dont have close to end-game gear you are doing something wrong and it probably is that you do not know the value of items you find.
That being said, this game is getting boring and I cant wait for Borderlands 2. I doubt I will play D3 anymore with B2's release. -
Yeah.. I spent 75mil on my wep, 77mil Chest, 25ish mil on boots and helm. Found my amulet, here's my updated WD: Geo - Community - Diablo III 110k DPS unbuffed, 300k buffed. No IAS (my attack speed is 1.0), just full on cc chance/dmg and intelligence. Average crits around 1mil AOE
Found Inna's Temperance today which sold for 36Mil. Almost getting a legendary a day; currently @ lvl 22 Paragon and no extra MF. Most are crap though. -
I have no idea how to get that kind of money in the game. It's been pretty much a bust for me after act2 inferno.
-
Same here, but it doesn't earn me any more gold.
-
Work a job and just buy the gold, it's better than spending the hundreds of hours making it yourself..... then farm act 4 for the rest of your life to make back the real money you spent... that's what this game amounts to.... it lost its fun after a couple months...
-
That just seems kinda crazy, in my book, to spend 1.97 per million of gold lol. It'd be like a mortgage payment for anything decent.
-
Act4 is the worse place to farm in the game.
Farm act 3 Keep > Stonefort > bunkers > siege > All the way to Azmodan >repeat
