i have the same issue on my m1330 on win7 x64. spent countless hours and gave up. reinstalled flash, tried different video drivers, disabled powermizer, no help.
my flash stutters even in ie. my 4 year old laptop handles flash seamlessly.

i have an acer aspire 4520. i went into the regedit and could not find the powermizer i did find a sdtvd in my registry. is that the same as powermizer?
i keep getting the crash warning in my laptop. -
Hi
I just found explanation how PowerMizer works ( http://www.nibyblog.pl/2009/02/nvidia-powermizer-howto/) - written by Franek. I'll try translate it into English....
Clock frequency strategy control
strategy=22(hex) - constant frequency; graphics card works always with constant frequency
strategy=33(hex) - adaptive frequency; graphics card works in max. power save mode until start of application which requires much GPU power.
PowerMizer modes
There are 3 modes for PowerMizer constant clock frequencies:
mode=1 - maximum performance (perf=highest level)
mode=2 - balanced performance
mode=3 - maximum power save (perf=0)
PerfLevelSrc strategies:
This is special drivers parameter, stored hexadecimal
0x[strategy for battery][strategy for AC]
Examples:
PerfLevelSrc=0×2222 – Constant PowerMizer mode (and constant clocks speeds) is used for battery and AC. These modes can be configured to be the same or to be different.
PerfLevelSrc=0×2233 – Constant PowerMizer is used for battery, but adaptive PowerMizer mode is used for AC.
PerfLevelSrc=0×3333 – Adaptive PowerMizer mode both for battery and AC
There are two parameters, which describe clock frequency stragety:
PowerMizerDefault - values used to 2 power sources (battery and AC)
PowerMizerDefaultAC - values used only for AC power
Example configurations:
Maximum power save when working on battery and maximum performance when working on AC:
"PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x2222; PowerMizerDefault=0x3; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x1"
Maximum power save when working on battery and adaptive performance when working on AC:
"PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x2233; PowerMizerDefault=0x3"
Adaptive performance when workiing on battery and maximum performance when working on AC:
"PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x3322; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x1"
Adaptive performance for both battery and AC:
"PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x3333" -
Actually, this did work for me (have yet to test out w/o the AC though). However, whenever I tried to update my drivers, I would get static, and then it would crash. Now it doesn't and my Street Fighter 4, and the rest of my games run smoooooooth with the new drivers. THANKS A LOT!!!

Don't they let you disable powermizer in the new Control Panel? "Adaptive Performance" switch in the 3D Settings.
Also, SF4 is really light on GPU, so how is it causing you to overheat? Your laptop may need some internal cleaning... -
Ok THIS IS FOR WINDOWS 7 USERS !!
There is no powermizer in windows 7 registy
You have to make the 4 lines of text and input the values yourself
I have windows 7 x64 and it works fine
I have a 8930 and as some of you no, its a bugger for downclocking, now no more lag in games, this is the throttling solution, well part of it, still overheats but ive sorted that now too, if you need more info let me know as i dont no if this thread is still active
Inputing the text manually also gets powermizer switch to work in windows 7 hehe -
I have read through the whole thread and other threads elsewhere and still need some help.
I have a laptop where, as soon as you go onto battery, a game like counterstrike 1.6 will cripple to around 15fps and then as soon as you plug it in again it goes back ok.
I dont want to disable powermizer on AC, i just want to disable it when i use "high performance" vista setting on BATTERY ONLY, and then have it enabled when its on "balanced" or "power saver mode" when using battery (to save power)
this means I can play games using battery when on high performance mode?
powermizer switch app wont do this!
anyone could they help me?
thanks -
angelwings, besides the disabling of powermizer, what did you do to cool your comp? i just did rmcpu clock utility to see if that works
-
And make sure you're not using "Power Saver" battery setting. -
nope not using power save settings
I have a dell m1330 -

Just wanted to give a big thank you to kenside34 for this thread and thanks to smile for the powermizer switch thread, you guys have made my laptop great again, so pleased I can play my high end games now, biggest difference is driving games like dirt 2 and burnout paradise, burnout would lag like mad when in a rage battle (only 10 min into the game) and it would be so frustrating, Ive tested burnout today and played for 2 hours with no lag or fps drop and 0 throttling, the only time it lags is when the res is at max 1920x1200 but thats the gpu ability so I can live with a lower res, still looks better than ps3 though, thanks again you are stars !!

sweet my 8600m gt dell 1720 underclocks to low power 3d mode after it reaches about 72 degrees! this is perfect! thanks!

YOU ARE A GOD -
Thanks for the great tutorial!

Looks as though Powermizer has been removed or re-written.
I came across this artification and crashing issue when I upgraded a friends Acer 6930G to a 9650M GT card, then lo and behold, Nvidia release a new Forceware package that seems to have solved the issue... (After trying 30 different drivers and various tricks to make it work!!)
257.15 is the latest isnt it?
I had to install it using the previous 9300M GS that was installed, then re-installed the "new" card afterwards, but nonetheless it works.
Tested this evening with Furmark at highest settings (peaked at 73 Celsius).
So to get back to my original point, I think Powermizer has been removed or re-written, as I can seem to find the registry entry at all and the artification has gone (I'll confirm after testing it on AC power)
EDIT** Confirmed!
Also Overclocked the card to 600/460/1450. Fun and games!!! -
Thank You so much, i've had tons of sound/lag issues, and I couldn't even find powermizer on windows 7.
So i've been debuggin for days trying to find the problem.
I just used this fine application and all my issues are resolved -
I'm using a Quadro 3000M. On NVIDIA's site it's not listed as using PowerMizer anymore. I don't have the registry keys to disable it, but something is underclocking it.
I am having sound stuttering issues like some of the other people here. Anyone have experience with the newer cards w/o PowerMizer? -
Try "PowerMizer Manager". All current Nvidia cards use power management - only Nvidia stopped calling it "PowerMizer".
Disable PowerMizer **Tested**
