178.24 and 179.13 don't work too![]()
I REPEAT: IT'S NOT POWERMIZER ISSUE !!!
-
wow this thread is still alive? Lets say this thread is a host for all types of eventual solutions. May it hit or miss thanks for everyone who is contributing. I would love for the day this problems is fixed. Oh yea GOOOO LAKERS !!
-
anymore suggestion?
-
why the long face ..
-
OK, my problem (scroll lag) solved with changing just PerfLevelSrc's value from "3333" to "3322".
But what's "PerfLevelSrc" ? Why does it turn off PowerMizer Completely ?
I even test this but it doesn't work:
"PerfLevelSrc" : "3333"
"PowerMizerDefault" : "1"
"PowerMizerEnable" : "0"
"PowerMizerLevel" : "1"
"PowerMizerLevelAC" : "1"
"PowerSaverHsyncON" : "0" -
all i know is when u put perflvlsrc to 3322 it disables powermizer on ac only
and if u make it 2222 it disables powermizer completely -
Thanks !
Crappy PowerMizer xD -
This not working on my 9600m gt
-
Don't disable powermizer, that is not the problem that causes the downclocking.
I gave up on finding a solution like that (disabling powemizer) because I ended up with a much hotter machine, running at 100% all the time when doing hardly anything and in the end the problem persisted.
What did I do? I downcloked myself a little, and so far the issue is less consistent. but still thats no solution. I advice people to leave powermizer on as it helps the computer run cool, more comfortable and in the end it lasts longer.
I also found out something important tho: Certain games caused the downclocking almost instantly, while others would never experience such a thing. This led me to believe it could be caused by drivers in a way but to be honest I don't really know... A game that 99% of the times I tried playing caused this issue rather fast was Condemmed: Criminal Origins.
All I know is that I rarely experience such a problem, and I tend to keep my machine running as cool as possible which has helped me encounter the issue less and less, to the point I don't think about it anymore.
maybe it is just a design flaw. Who knows. Let's hope for an answer soon! -
maybe u have the 8600 which is known to have this downclocking issue .. there are many threads about it and how to fix it
-
powermizer never gives me any problems...
-
great thanks for that info .. hey a question bout the built in tv tuner in ur notebook ..
do u have to hook it to and external antenna to get channels or u don't have to
sorry for the offtopic .. just wanted to get one of those for my hp express card slot thingy -
So it's not downclocking issue -
Hey there
I just wanted to add something:
On my laptop, with PowerMizer off (either by the guide on the first page (2222) or by the powermizer disabling app), when connected to AC, I've got 500/1250/400 clocks. But when connected to Battery, it's 400/800/400. So it's not really off, it's still working somehow (or is it GPU itself?). What I found out (not sure if someone mentioned it before), PowerMizer was "made" (invented? lol) by nVidia, not Microsoft. It's just a driver thing, as with original HP drivers (176.x if I remember correctly) I wasn't experiencing downclocking at all (it was dynamic, 2D/low3d/3D and... one more - checked it with RivaTuner, the clocks had about 4 different settings). Now with 180.43, downclocking occours. I'll see and report what happens after deleting PowerMizer registry keys, as they were not present in HP's drivers.
EDIT: Okay. So I deleted these reg keys, the card has it's 4 modes back, everything's fine, 500/1250 when on AC, 400/800 on battery. The only minus I guess is that Aero became stuttery now, it has less fps (I mean I feel like it has), but on the other hand it has the lowest clocks then.
EDIT2: lol. aero is working fine nowI didn't do anything
-
Just press the Aero Filp-3D more and more to see smooth FPS
176.44 (Original from Dell) and 177.73+PhysX work fine for me !
2D/Low3D/High3D, No Scroll Lag, Good 3D Game Performance
But I've scroll lag problem with newer nvidia driver (>177.73) even @ High3D mode (YES, IN 3D HIGH PERFORMANCE 475/400 MODE) xD
I should disable powermizer completely (2222/3322) for +177.73 which kills my lappy xD -
ive been disabling the powermizer on my notebook since the day i put this thread together. Never once did my system overheat. I would not rule out this temp fix. It worked for me and it has worked for a few other members.
Ive installed over 30 drivers since making that post.Ive been testing and sometimes i do notice that the powermizer doesnt help. I have since found my sweet spot. Lets not be so negative.
My advice with anything we do here in regard to testing and trying to find a fix. Be careful. Test carefully. If it doesnt work revert back. If you get want you want. monitor your system and enjoy.
With the powermizer switch alex made it just makes it a lot easier to test and find results. good luck guys !! I am currently running
My system spec are below. Look i just jumped 2 points and my sorry dell 1720 is now rated 5.0. POWERMIZER DISABLED btw.
-
I've found another nice thing. You can leave PowerMizer on (so it'll save your battery life when playing e.g. Quake or Counter-Strike), but if you'd want to "drain" your battery a bit more (Far Cry 2/...)... just run RivaTuner and overclock the 2D clocks to 3D clocks. That way it'll work as if PowerMizer is off, without restarting your laptop/notebook.
-
That program is great, the entries didnt exist in the registry and adding them didnt work either. But a quick dl, set and reboot and no more PowerMizer.
Real big thanks for this +1 -

hi there i have this graphics card on my presario v6500 amd turion 64x2 mobile technology TL58 1.90GHz and 2GB of ram and 128Mb. Im running forceware 174.31. i noticed when i added coolbits and all that despite my gpu clock still stays at 100MHz and ive tried stopping powermizer with regedit stuff as seen on this website but still i cant get this laptop to play football manager 2009 3d engine or even any game without being very slow the fps must be low. From what i understand this grapics card has 3 levels of GPU clocks which are 100MHz,250MHz and 425MHz. Mines stuck on the 100MHz can anyone help increase my gpu????
-
Any ideas what to do to change this? I dont want to disable the feature but I want it to work the same on battery as in AC. Downclock on light load but run full speed in a game or something.
Again on AC it works great, on battery I have it working close just the max speed is only 400 instead of 530 and I dont know why. -
There can be several reasons. The first may be because of battery's capacity. Maybe it just can't supply your laptop with that much power (I mean come on! on battery with powermizer on (lowest settings nearly all the time) my hp dv5 can work for about 2.5 hours. While it's 400/800/400, it can work for not more that one hour, even less. So imagine 530/xxx/xxx... About... 30 minutes? Really, do you prefer to play the game in max details for 30 minutes or with medium/low for 1-2 hours? :]
-
Hey, 180.70 is Mobility Compatible
Try it! I've no more scroll lagging -
I still have the problem that even with PowerMizer disable when I am on battery it automatically switch to lower clocks....
625/800/1550 on AC
and
400/300/800 on Battery...
is there any way to fix this and make the batteries vales the same as AC ones? -
Try "2222"
-
Or this little tool:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3624228#post3624228 -
I have tried both. Actually with that tool and with the 2222 setting the only thing that I obtain is the clocks to not go down on idle. But still there is base clock difference between AC and BATTERY modes...
Any idea how to fix this? -
Which driver version have you got?
You may try to do an istallation of updated drivers after removing the old ones and cleaning with DriverSweeper for example. -
I mean I know you can mod any of the newer drivers to work, but nvidia just release 179.xx beta for mobile. I just installed those and the powermizer reg settings are missing.
Have not tested to see what happens on battery yet.
But something must be diffrent between the drivers which is why they have laptop and desktop diffrent. Even though the desktops will work with a mod I am sure it has a big reason they are not universal.
Anyone know?
Good thing is the new mobile drivers now show my card as a 9800M GS instead of GT they all use to... About time they added the right ID's haha..
**UPDATE** Well tested and these latest nvidia beta drivers dated 12/18 are GREAT!
They dont have powermizer settings but they work even better... On battery my GPU can work at full speed, and it downclocks still when not under load, which is good for heat and battery life, but if I play a game it will max out at 530Mhz instead of the old 400Mhz mine would do on battery before...
So I would say the mobile drivers are indeed better... Down side is battery life is less but thats because it runs faster now, haha. -
I just installed these beta drivers, and managed to eke out a .1 in the Windows Experience Index, bringing it to the glorious 3.5 on my Vostro 1510 with the 8400M GS
I don't game, but I would like to get a little more performance in Aero. Anything I can do about it? -
The 179.28 drivers are great. My 9300m automatically downclocks, but will run at full power on the battery to play a game.
-
Yes, 179.28 is the best !
No more modded inf -
Even the new drivers lock my GPU down at 160/100 on battery, disabling powermizer keeps my clocks locked at 400/400, is there any way to get the full power of my GPU on batteries? its stock clock is 550/400, my laptop is an Asus N80Vn-X1.
It worked before upgrading my version of Vista. -
Run a game and then run gpu-z. You should see the clocks go up.
-
@MrBojangels: Set PerfLevelSrc to 2222 instead of 3322.
-
Im with 179.28 drivers and when i try to set the inf i cant find the Powermizer to set it at 2222
-
when i reach video folder there are 6 folders with numbers, but none of them contain files showed in the image! what do i do??
-
Does this still work on 185.26 drivers?
-
Most probably it does. The driver version 185.26 were released 2 months ago by the way.
-
Thanks. I know, but the 182.5s don't adjust profiles the way I'd like.
-
Im using the latest driver, 185.85 from Nvidia for laptops and I have nothing in the registry about PowerMizer at all.
You see I have a random downcloking issue in WC3 TFT (not overheat or anything) and was hoping this guide would help.
Dont I have PowerMizer? -
Actually 185.85 has PowerMizer but the driver does not contain the necassary registry entries. You may create them manually or use the 'PowerMizer Switch' which can do it for you.
-
I downloaded your "PowerMizer Switch" and it worked. No FPS drops in WC3. Thank you.
Do you have to reboot every time? Thats a little bummer..
My GPU are now, with the powermizer off, on 600core and 900mem compared to 200 and 100 with the powermizer on. Are there any negatives with running the card OC all the time, except the heat? -
One point is the heat, another is the higher energy consumption. I recommend you to choose the first option which will keep PowerMizer turned off while you are on A/C and switch it on when you are on battery to safe it.
-
Maybe im very stupid but ive got Toshiba Qosmio X300-11W and ive got none of this PerfLevelScr or PowerMizer i searched for 1 hour and cant find them. Please help
P.S ive got this error nvlddmkm stopped respondind and has successfully recovered for 2 times while i typing a reply
And if I understand correctly you can create .reg file for computer to do it automatically for you.. Can anybody create such file so that i will just run it. I cant find this specific files.. plzzzz help thanks
-
Tell me your driver version, most probably you need an update.
I recommend you to visit this site: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com -
7.15.11.7689 display driver windows vista 32 bit. The latest driver for my laptop on official site : http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
-
I guess this is very bad.... but they dont delete even with administrator permission and when all aplications are closed... Also im using PowerMizer Switch.. no help still got crashes
Now ive got 18 of this files they keep adding up... i tried to delete them with Unlocker and Revo_Uninstaller but no use they restore.... plz help -
hm, thx, but I cannot find PowerMizerEnable at all! its not there :S
-
SomeFormOFhuman has the dumbest username.
Just add a new string PerfLevelSrc in the registry. While you're in the Video\(Numbers & Letters)\000\ directory, Right click > New> String value then type "PerfLevelSrc" (P,L,S in capitals) into the registry. Hit enter. Then double click on PerfLevelSrc, enter the data with the value of "2222" to complete disable it.
Restart your laptop, run GPUz, check the Sensors tab; the speeds should run at stock.
Works for both of my machines below with the Nvidia's 186.81 drivers.
Disable PowerMizer **Tested**
