Dota 2 Discussion thread

Blah. Hate those games where everything clicks and you pretty much dominate early and mid games, but then youre team gets comfortable and doesn't keep the pressure up and you end up losing late game and eventually lose the game. Lame.

I'm starting to see that I'm winning more games solo queuing than I am when I stack with friends......=\

i'm still getting the hang of the game coming from regular dota only because its so much harder to differentiate between heroes, also the whole shopping experience is more difficult cuz the images of items has changed. if you ever wanna game let me know, i've only played dota 2 twice now, but been playing dota quite regularly for 2 or so years now.

 

So, Enigma, Disruptor, Earthshaker, Juggernaut, and Drow can wreck a team.

So Enigma blinks in, casts Black hole.
Immediately after, Disruptor casts Static Storm.
Earthshaker blinks in, and SLAMMIN'.
Disruptor then casts Kinetic Field.
Enigma casts Midnight Pulse
Juggernaut now has a cage match and Drow has a shooting gallery.

 

Enigma and ES alone would wreck most teams. Black Hole is too awesome, goes thru magic immunity.

 

If you are magic immune and you have Black Hole cast, you take 0 damage but you still get disabled. Just like Pudge, Bane, Beastmaster, Axe, Doom ultimate all go through magic immunity, and quite a few others.

 

Man I love my split pushing jungle Furion. Ring of Basillius, into Midas, Powertreads, Lothars, Sheepstick, Lothars, Mjollinar. Did a build with an Assault Cuirass. Too much DPS!

 

I just got done playing a match. Finally getting the hang of it a little. I played as Chaos Knight. Went 3 and 7 haha. Just tried not to die too much. Got a lot of assists. We ended up losing. Any tips? Also, if anyone wants to play, just hit me up.

Depends on what role you are trying to play as CK. The metagame now says powertreads, Armlet, drums, BKB, heart. I used to play CK as a hard carry, battlefury, manta style, heart, BKB. I personally think Vanguard is still a viable item on CK, gives him mid game tankyness, and most CK get a stout shield.

Gyro is a lot of fun and so easy to people, but honestly in dota 2 for some stupid reason I chose i'm new to dota to get the hang of dota 2. That was a big mistake because i'll the team alone but i can't manage 3 lanes on my own and my team just runs in to feed and eventually i'll get overpowered.

 

Try skeleton king, or anti mage.

 

Gyro is a hero that can completely decimate an enemy team with just Flak Cannon. And his items are pretty simple. I normally get Lothars, Phase boots, Monkey King Bar, Manta Style, Helm of the Dominator, and Rapier if I can get it. Sometimes I'll opt for Dadelus, but it doesn't work in conjunction with Flak Cannon.

I would avoid Anti-Mage as a first carry player. He has a specific item build and a specific timeframe in which to get thus items. Also because Anti-Fun is hated so much, he is the target of alot of ganks. Skeleton King, Drow Ranger I think are pretty easy carry heroes to learn. Skeleton King has 1 active ability, his stun. Viper is pretty easy too.

 

Just played a couple matches with Khetik. We won both and that is exactly what he did haha. I didn't do too well, still getting the hang of it. Thanks khetik for helping me out so much tonight. :thumbsup:

@krizzjaa im sorry but that makes no sense, if u wanna get better then u DO seek help and tips, be it dota or sports or w/e it may be. You get better by playing with ppl better than u and seeing wat they do differently, if you cant see it, then you ask.

@tsunade_hime dominator is an orb and so is flak cannon...

 

@krizzjaa false statement. When I was a new player I played a lot of games with my friends who were also newbies in Lan parties, but I only got truly better when I started playing online and saving replays, watching how the best players in the match handled themselves.

@khetik HoD is an orb, however Flak is not. What happens when the skill is activated is basically only the main target is hit with the orb effect (Helm of Dominator's lifesteal) and the rest of the targets are hit with regular orbless attacks. Same goes for Crits, bashes etc.

 

While your whole post doesn't make sense, I especially don't understand the part about trash talk?

Flak Cannon is not an orb, it just doesn't stack with attack bonuses.

I'm not sure if the rest of the targets are hit with Monkey King Bar, Gyrocopter is a really unique hero, I need to read up the advanced mechanics on him.

I actually started off playing bots, relearned the game mechanics as I hadn't touched a Dota styled game in a few years. Good old days of Dota 1, I remember when people picked Invoker, everybody rage quit.

 

Everybody thought Invoker was so op, till they realize how squishy and easy to kill he is.

 

I play Quas Wex and I'm pretty good on my fingers, so usually I'll get to Ghost Walk away. Then once I get my Eul's and Sceptre, it usually is over for the enemy as I then max Exort for max damage.

A carry Invoker can be scary, go Youtube Miromirg play Invoker.

 

I just played a match with Drow Ranger as suggested and we ended up winning. I did much better. Went 7 and 8 with like 10 assists. I know that is horrible to you all haha. It's only my fifth or sixth match of Dota ever though.

Anyways, I did much better in the late game as she is pretty weak early on. So just tried to farm early on. Ended with wraith bands, treads, bkb, and one other big item. I was pretty good at chasing people and finishing them off. What sucked is when they ganked me. What can drow ranger do to run away? Any items I should've gotten?

 

Drow usually get Lothars (Shadow Blade) so she can escape or initiate into. Usually I build Ring of Aquila, Powertreads, Lothars, Dadelus, Buttterfly, sometimes Manta Style.

 

Thank you. May go ahead and play another game with her. Just played one with viper and we won. Went 6 and 5. My favorite item was shadow blade. It is pretty awesome.

Shadow Blade is a common item on him, though Viper is somewhat of a decent tanky agility hero with a decent strength gain, and his intelligence gain is pretty good. Only thing with Viper is cause he lacks a stun, you can teleport out of his ultimate. Which most Vipers will get Monkey King Bar once they finish a DPS item like Manta Style.

 

I see. Me and khetik played another and won. I played as sniper. Probably the most fun hero I have used. So satisfying ulting someone who was running away.

 

Sniper is easy to learn, but hard to master. He defines squishy carry, but they reworked him about 2-3 months ago, giving him a built in MKB and rescaled the chance to proc to a flat 40%. Ridiculous hero IMO. You need GOOD map awareness as sniper.

 

LOL medic bear. 6 minute Mek on lone druid's bear. Then he went soul ring for bear, which actually gives him 150 mana. So cool. Tanked creeps and towers for them for early pushing. Mek that early is too stronk. Then he got mana boots for bear, which he kept around the rest of the team, while the actual Lone Druid hero split pushed. Hilarious strats.

Yeah that's bad. I've tried the pro Lone Druid build, I go Midas on bear, then Phase boots, Armlet, Maelstrom, Basher, Assault Cuirass. Just cheap items that you can easily build into. Nobody runs Radiance first item anymore. Rips through towers.

 

Haha well if it's bad, then the players they played against were even more bad. That early Mek on bear was too hard to stop early on. It was funny to watch. "Medic Bear is online" had me lolling.

 

Hey guys, I've been playing League for a while and I just got a Dota 2 invite and I would like some suggestions on some champs to play starting out if anyone doesn't mind.

Some of the "beginner friendly" heroes would have to be Lich, Venomancer, Sven, Skeleton King, Drow, Witch Doctor, Warlock, Bloodseeker.

 

Just played a match with Drow Ranger. I got ganked a lot by bounty hunter. Is that his shadow walk ability? Anything I could do? My team ended up quitting really early. Sucked.

Unfortunately no. Gondar's ultimate is Track, reveals an enemy hero and gives a bonus 20% move speed. Only real way to counter him is sentry wards, dust of appearance, or gem of true sight. Bounty is a really a pain, and if fed, will completely dominate in game.

 

Medic Bear would be a pretty awesome hero.

 

Meh there is only 2 acceptable builds on Lone Druid, and 1 isn't really viable anymore considering the metagame. Radiance into maelstrom, phase, basher, assault cuirass, MKB or armlet, maelstrom, phase, basher, AC, MKB.

 

I gotcha. Well he dominated that game haha.

 

Acceptable or not, it worked and it worked pretty well. It was hilarious seeing that bear tank creeps and tower for everyone and then providing heals and mana for them.

 

WHAT... NO DOUBLE MIDAS???

I did this, got raged at by the entire team. But WATCH the gold roll in.

You can probably end up buying all of them if your team holds off the other guys long enough

 

I've done a double midas build, but you end up having no items when the fight comes, or you don't do any DPS. Also Midas is not a good item that scales into the mid/late game, so usually only 1 is recommended.

 

Wow. Just wow. Probably the best lvl1 Rosh game I've seen. Everything was executed so perfectly. SD/Dazzle/Axe so dangerous.

Haha. The part at 0:54 where they group up for Kotl's charge is hilarious.

 

Been playing single pick to learn the game better. At least I feel like that may be better than choosing the two heroes I'm decent at.

Yup. Also why Nyx counters KOTL so hard. Not too hard to spot KOTL blast, then pop carapice bam. Also it is pure damage.

 

DOTABUFF - Dota 2 Stats - Match 185302733

Fun Slardar game. First built Vanguard, powertreads, drums. Then got a hyperstone into Mjollinar (our DK already had an AC) into BKB, then Heart, and I decided to buy my own AC. Permabashing machine!

 

Played Treant last night and completely did not know about the change to his living armor. It blocks a certain amount of damage instances now. I would place it on my teammates and towers and I was like, "wow...I forgot how strong that spell is...they're hardly taking damage..." Won the game, surprisingly, considering how bad we were early.

Then, coincidentally, Purge puts up a video of him playing Treant and he explained the change to it.

 

Awwww yeah. Played Treant again because I wanted to mess around with living armor and my map awareness and apparently I did well enough for someone on the opposing team to say I was good. I kept healing towers, healing our jungling doom, I even popped a clutch Guise on our Naga for her to escape.

All 3 games I played last night were really intense games that we ended up winning. First game was single draft as Omni. Had a lot of clutch ult's that won us teamfights. Second single draft game I played as Puck and she's actually really fun to play. That one looked super sketchy in the beginning since they pushed really early and were already attacking our rax at 20mins, but somehow we came back for the win. Third game was an AR game and it could've gone both ways as both teams were nothing but carries. I played as Naix and of course, I had freefarm most of early game and was able to dominate later into the game. I was down to 100 hp when this Magnus was chasing me and spamming shockwave. Armlet toggle + Rage and I was able to turn around and kill him from full health. It was hilarious.
