Dammit, doesn't support Quadro's... Oh well i guess i could just use the "how to make your quadro a geforce" guide.
-
Cool! Thanks for the link
-
Glad to see Dox active but I hope he does something with the 186.81 drivers, mind they are already the best.
-
Dox retirement lasted a long time
have to agree with Nut, 186.81 have been the best nvidia have brought out in the last 2 years so could there be any tweaking on the horizon for these drivers. -

I had to do a HAVE DISK install with my 230m to install, the setup did nothing.
-
Yeah, same here. Reporting it over on LV2G.
-
Just posting in here to welcome Dox back

I just ran 3dmark06 on W7-64bit on my Nvidia 230m GT and the score was lower or very little difference than on the unmodified 195.62 driver
-
3dmark is not very accurate. you could run it 10 times with different results every time.
-
Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
It only varys by a 50-100 points or so depending on the gpu, not a few hundred , unless you have the power saver on.
-
Dox optimised drivers sometimes score lower in artificial benchmarks but higher in real game performance.
-
Anyone try it on an 8600m GT yet?
-
Take it you did a driver clean, defrag and sorted out any settings for an equal comparison?
But as has been said, these are built for real and not artifical gains, so that is how they should be tested. Based on FPS, IQ, etc. -
Dox tailors for real world game performance, even if it means 3D Mark scores drop (or in this case, don't change). This is how it should be, synthetic scores aren't very useful.
-
how is it temperature wise?
-
how did you do this with a .exe file? It doesnt show up when i try the have disk method.
-
Dox has updated the installer and fixed the issues that were making it necessary to use the ''Have Disk'' method.
-
i just downloaded it 45min ago. ill go check again.
-

I just compared the file i downloaded at 4:30pm and the one i downloaded at 11:00pm GMT and they show as being identical. ???
-
I just noticed Dox has another update on the forum which says
When I visited the forum earlier I thought he mentioned releasing an updated Windows 7 installer with the fix.
Edit:
Oh here it is:
-
i did the haved disk. dont know what i did to extract the flies but it worked waht ever it was.
-
When you run the Dox installer, before it gets to the point it fails at for some, it would have already extracted the required files.

Bumping this question. -
Back to 186.81 for me. I get the powermizer bug where my GPU doesn't downclock properly when it becomes idle after gaming. Rivatuner also shows my idle GPU clocks jumping up and down when they aren't doing anything. Consequently my idle temps are about 6-7C+ higher than usual with this driver.
-
with powermizer off, my current temps are 55c. much lower than normal.
-
No the setup.exe is not fixed
It IS fixed but not uploaded yet
wanting to fix the brightness issue some people are experiencing
then will upload version 1.1. -
hmm this doesn't work with my asus 1201n with the ion
it just says the system has not been modifed install this this program at a later date? -
^It's a known bug. For now, run the Dox installer first (this is important), exit when you get to the Nvidia installer, then just install the driver manually in Device Manager using the .inf file in the root of the driver directory.
-
You must install using the "have disk" method.
-
ya i did that as a 2nd option
thanks for the answer even after i did that i thought it was still the normal drivers but now i know
-
As long as you run the Dox installer thing first, it will apply the optimisations.
-
hmm will wait on these since laptopnut says these aren't as good, I'll stick to 186.81
-
It's good to hear Dox was back! XD
So, this new Driver from Dox is still unstable?
When will the stable 1 release?
I used to be using Dox Forceware 185.85 but Nvidia Forceware 186.82 is just too overpowered(slightly better than Dox Forceware 185.85). Not sure about newer Dox release. -
Its probably not DOX's fault but more like nvidias ******** ****** **** drivers.
God i hate them.
Yeah, these drivers have been really really great... Dox ought to perhaps optimize them even further
-
Is there a difference between 186.81 and 186.82?
Are they better than Dox 186.86 too? -
Another vote for the 186.82 drivers here, every day I consider reinstalling them. I hate running old drivers, but they're the smoothest drivers I've ever used.
-
The only difference for me and a few others were that 186.82 had an issue where idle temps ran higher and it wouldn't downclock my GPU after gaming. I don't have this powermizer issue with 186.81.
-
Yep! Some people have lame performance and unstable clockspeed or higher temperature with Forceware 186.82.
However, I have higher performance, lower temperature and more OC ability with Forceware 186.82.
I got very awful performance with Forceware 186.81. >.<
Forceware 19X.XX have good performance(not as good as Forceware 186.82) but really problematic for me.
Same driver(Forceware) is not made to be work good on every machines. It might be good for me but not you(vice versa). So, choose the one who suite you more.
-
Can anyone tell me what dox means? Also, would these be better the 186.81?
-
Dox is a person, a moderator on laptopvideo2go who creates modified versions of NVIDIA drivers, in an attempt to optimize them for video gaming.

I thought DOX is gone!
-
V1.1 of DOX195.62 is out. .exe works now.
-
Bah, just installed 195.81!
Will try out the new Dox release tomorrow after some gaming
-
Haven't changed drivers for a long time since the release of 186.82, out of curiosity, i installed the DOX 195.62, tested a few games and i can safely say i got better fps than the official 186.82 and temp is about the same.
-
Driver keeps throttling up and down when browsing the internet and temps are around 50 degrees celsius. Did not have this with 185.85 and temps are around 42 degrees celsius and clocks never gowing up when browsing.
Why is that!?
-
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
If idle temps are higher, sounds like powermizer isnt always working.
-
Megacharge Custom User Title
I've installed it, powermizer is working fine, no throttling or anything, cards down clock when they are supposed to unlike the stock 195.62, and temps are fine, great driver IMO.
-
It looks like this when web browsing:
Powermizer is set on in driver and in regedit it shows PrefLevelSrc 3333
In Control Panel Power management mode is set to Adaptive.
??
-
I don't think even DOX can magically cause the 195s to not suck.
I'll stick with 186.81, until Nvidia gets it together with the 190 series..
Dox 195.62- Get 'em while their hot!!
