Hmmm i have a noob question: if i am using a 64-bit version of windows 7 professional, should i be looking for 64-bit only drivers or are 32-bit 186.82s ok for my card? Any input appreciated.

You must use the 64bit driver.

while a DOX optimized 186.81 would have been great, his 195.62 runs fine for me. My screen doesnt seems as bright but its not his fault.

on a side note, someone ask why nvidia hasnt given him a job position yet. He response was soon..very soon. I dont know if he was just kidding or being serious but i think he could do wonders.

Go to Nvidia.com, download the standalone installer. Job done.

Either, they're both good drivers. The 186.81 have slightly newer crossfire profiles and some slight compatability tweaks, but otherwise little between em.

I'd try the newer driver, or perhaps even 196.21 then.

okay, i guess its the same procedure as always:

    safe mode
    drivesweeper to uninstall everything
    booting into normal windows
    install new driver
    install physx

but not sure if i should try the 196.21 from dox or better the original 186.61 :S

Only driver sweeper if you need to. Physx will often install automatically if you use a full Nvidia package (LV2G or modded dont count).

hm well i read at the dox driver:
so accoring to him, the performance + settings should be way better... but is it rly like that? i mean i tryed lots of dox drivers before and the first one (182.56 or smth like that) was the best one (temps & 3dmark06 results). so i wonder if this one is again a "fail" one and i should just stick to the original 186.61 or if this "optimation stuff" rly improved smth.

If it has to be those two, I'd just try both!

hmm i wonder if there were any important bug fixes from 186.61 to 195.62 ?

i guess i will just try them both tomorrow and compare the 3dmark06 results. But i could think of changes for new games too?

Well, I installed them. I can say that this drivers are better than stock 195.62. I have no bugs or issues with them. Someone reports that using that drivers they have big temperature drop, but I haven't noticed that. Did you have big temperature drop?

some dox driveres definiatly gave higher temps and easier artificial/glitches when overclocking. i made a thread about it:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=402946

on page 2 i made a comparison and i think in that thread i also made a comparison about temps.

Which drivers are better than stock 195.62 ? do u mean mean both (the dox 195.62 and the stock 186.61)?

    thanks

@edit: i just realized there are:

    186.81 : http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_186.81_whql.html
    and
    186.82 : http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/24999-v18682-windows-7vista-64bit-nvidia/

and i wonder which one is better now :p

    @edit2:

    dox185.85:

    stock 186.81:

so the dox one gives 500points more... but i will test in an hour or so if the stock driver is more stable..

I've tested new drivers on my laptop. They are better that stock 195.62. First of all, Thanks Dox! But, I'll go back to 186.82 they are still best for me.

Found out that when running on battery the clocks stay low when web browsing, and don,t go up unnecessary. So there is a way problely to controle the clocks plugged!? What do you guys thing, is it the driver, vbios, OS, mobo bios.....that controls this?

Just change power plan of your laptop to power saving that should solve your issue.

Benjamin I have the same problem. What I ended up doing was significantly downclocking my "extra 3d" clock setting. Temps were lowered by a good amount that way, and when I game I just set it back up to standard clocks or my OC.
