should run nicely = )

Hey, I`m in for the game in 10-15 mins...who`s in ?
-
Let me know if you guys have any issues with the demo I uploaded. I downloaded it from Fileplanet and immediately uploaded it, never tested it.
-
Seems good. can even run it on max, on my HD2600 DDR2 (1024/768) no AA. that gives me solid 30 FPS. Not bad for mediocre card.

Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
gobble gobble, mmmm mega bytes! Gonna check this out later

So, anybody up for MP ?

Sorry me at work. And worse, I'm on an old Mac!
-
, it`s a SP demo ...
-
Woa, can`t even change the resolution from 1024x640...
And it`s a little buggy, I max it out at this res, and there are places where it dips to 0-1fps ...until I look at the ground and it goes back up..
I hope the game itself won`t have this issue... -
CONGRATULATIONS! You have won a trip to Cancun!!!
!!!!!
sorry.
But I do hope it was just a bug. -
i can get about 20-30fps at that res on all medium. gets to teens in fire fights though. -

I pay $30 a month for a 6mb down 1mb up from AT&T with no contract. Not trying to brag or anything, just letting all who live in the US know just incase they are paying a lot

alternate mirror that I just started DLing off of. Gamershell.com doesn't use a line, or waiting system, just pick a mirror and download. Though I've never actually seen their servers this loaded before, I'm still getting a decent rate, 200-600kb/s, kinda erratic, but it's DLing.. normally I'd get 2.3MB/s from this site, must be alot of hype surrounding this game eh?
Btw, frostbit3 and all of you other guys, not sure if you know this but that rate you pay for is bits, not bytes, divide the number by 8, and that will be your download speed in bytes. A 6mbp/s connection maxes out at 750KB/s down, and 125kb/s up respectively. Don't ever expect to get those speeds though, as it's the theoretical max. I'm betting you average about 630kb/s on downloads right? -
i guess i should try it

Just realized what the problem was. I tried to make it easy for you guys and have you a HTTP link. If you want faster actually get an FTP client (Filezilla) and it will go a HELL of a lot faster. What ever is easier for ya. For the FTP Client just use:
Hostname: 74.54.27.98
User: guest
Port: 21 (Default) -

Incase anyone missed it, also on Steam now...

There's still a few people downloading from the FTP that I put up, once it's cleared I'll take it down since there's really no reason anymore ;-) -

Thanks for putting up the server, getting over 600 KB/sec, while gamershell was giving about 100
Ah well, just noticed steam has it and they're giving the same spped, I can quit leeching if you need to take it down -
I'm playing it on my PS3 right now, and so far, I have to say it is far more creepy than the first FEAR. The first one really wasn't that creepy over all, save for a few bits here and there. But with the right brightness setting, this one will make you uneasy about walking around the next corner or opening a door. The best part is that crazy moments never happen when you expect them. You expect them to happen after you open a door or come around a corner, but they don't. Instead, they happen when you're just walking down a brightly lit hallway. It makes it that much more intense, because, unlike most horror games and movies, you really don't know when to expect it.
The graphics are good on PS3, but obviously I don't know how that translates to PC. I may download the demo on my Dell later and give it a go. But for those playing it on the PC, does your screen seem blurry as well. On PS3, everything seems kinda blurring when you're moving around, and I don't know if it's the version, my TV, or actually part of the game done for effect.
Overall, without seeing anything about the story, it looks good. I'll probably wait for reviews before a purchase, though, since I don't know what the plot will be like. Also, I'll probably get it for PC if it runs well, because the controls just don't feel quite right on the PS3. Not bad, but just not quite as good as they could be. Maybe it's because I'm used to the original on PC. -

Is the awesome melee combat still there?
-
melee conbat is still there.
i just beat the demo on my M17 in my sig.
it was awesome and kinda scary.
i ran it at 1920x1200 maxed out everything at about 25-35fps.
the game was awesome -
The most intense single player "horror" FPS I've ever played. With bose headphones on, all the effects on, it raised the hair on my skin, and my heartbeat went way up. It was crazy, but I really enjoyed it, and of course I went through it again.
On my first go, I maxed everything but textures at medium, and kept ambient occlusion off. 1366 x 768 4x AF. No stuttering, good performance, 30+ FPS. The second go I put textures to high and turned AO on, didn't effect FPS much, but there were some pauses to load the higher res textures, I could live with medium. Great optimization, very impressive effects mask lower poly counts and lower res textures. Physics, bullet impacts, motion blur, etc are all their. You MUST try for yourself! -
Please continue discussion about FEAR 2 here
I just got home and the download is finished, so I'll be installing the demo soon and playing it -
Ok, I loaded up the demo on my Dell (specs in sig). To my surprise, the game ran nearly flawlessly at Maximum settings at 1280x800, with a few options turned off. I turned off HDR, AA, and Ambient Occlusion. There were a few hiccups during loading (apparently my hard drive isn't fast enough or Vista was doing something with it again).
HOWEVER, be aware that HDR makes a HUGE difference in this game. With it turned off, the became becomes a lot less creepy. I've never seen it make as much of a difference in a game as it did in this one. If you have the ability to have HDR on, I would suggest that you do. I can run the game at Medium with HDR on, and to be honest, it looks better than Maximum with HDR off. I guess it's because the game is so dark, texture quality is not extremely noticeable (at least in the demo). However, the ambiance created by HDR (including blurring instances where Alma appears) make a world of difference in the feel of the game. Like I said, if you can leave it on, even if it means turning something else down/off, do so.
A few points of interest: the controls are nearly identical to the original F.E.A.R. on PC, which is great. It makes me want to get this game for PC instead of PS3. Additionally, motion blur can be turned off on PC, while it can't be on PS3 (at least on the demo), I prefer it turned off (see previous post). Also, the game interestingly runs in a letterbox 16:9 format, even if you set a 16:10 resolution. Didn't bother me much, but I know it probably will bother some people.
Overall, I'm much more excited for this game than I thought I would be. The demo proved to be great fun, and it is much darker than the first. I just still have to decide whether to get it on PC or PS3, and whether to get it when it comes out or after it goes on a discount (seeing as Killzone 2 comes out a few weeks after this one). -
Can wait until its release
. Btw how long is the demo itself? My internet is slow so I don't know if its worth the time.
-
-
That being said, it's a very good demo, and very diverse. Not much cutscene activity. Also, you get to drive a mech, which is good fun. -
Alternatively, you guys can download it from BigDownload. No waits and downloads very quickly (took me about 15 minutes on a 20Mb connection).

Wicked Demo!!
If the whole game is of decent length and that kind of a ride I'd pay $70 for the PC version. IMO Monolith has done a fantastic job of a sequel (from what I can tell in the demo anyways). The whole thing brought me right into the FEAR universe again, nicely updated with some great new weapons and hugely improved environments. Not too mention it is definitely scarier than the 1st one, and I thought the 1st was quite creepy.
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! Can't wait for Feb 10th. -
When I was first hearing about this game I thought it would be a total let down. But my gameplay experience from the short demo was great. Infact I think I had more fun with that than I did from the other FEAR games, there's just SO much more going on. I think the biggest improvement to the game is the camera, and the excellent use of HDR color correction. This is a game that you'll want all options cranked up on, and definately a good sound system, or good headphones.
There's almost no point in me mentioning how it performs on my main PC. With Vsync locking the FPS to 60, it never moved, stayed at 60FPS through the entire demo completely maxed out settings including AA in 1920x1080, (2 HD4850's in CrossfireX) The game did seem to have a couple small loading spikes though, where the game would stutter for about 1/4 of a second to load. It didn't happen during fights though, so that's good. -

The grain filter does bother me some, and the UI is clearly designed with consoles in mind, but other than that, AWESOME demo. I'll be first in line on February 10th. -
Downloaded demo off Steam last night. OMG was it awesome!
Laptop is 5930g 2.0 Ghz P7350, 512MB 9600M GT. Running more or less Maxed/High with HDR and AO on. Seriously great effects :OOO
Thou I miss the slowmo sharpness effect seen in the first FEAR ^^;;;;
Other than that, they did a really great job at the graphics. Going to try again tonight with changing the settings.
Its soo errery the horror now. I saw like stuck against corners and sh*t my pants when I turned around a few times and saw ama in my face :OOO -
-
. And yes I'm a jerk and don't dare to play it alone, I need to have people with me to scream at lol
.

Been playing the demo:
- 1680x1050, all max with 4x AA, according to FRAPS framerate never goes lower than 50.
- Graphics are dated, mainly the environmental textures
- Combat feels good
- Mouse acceleration is ridiculous, so I had to turn sensitivity all the way down.
- More than one chilling moment made me question whether I can handle the scares. Truly creepy stuff. Chilling.
-
I'm paying $24 in Malaysia for the 1Mbps down 384kbps up. Life's unfair? You bet.
Anyway its good to know that your 9800M GT could handled everything at max. Wonder if my 64-bit Vista performance will be vary a lot, will check it out later. -
-
I'm paying $70 in AMERICA for barely 1mbps down. LIFE SUCKS WHEN YOU LIVE IN NOWHERE.
-
The game does have some loading spikes issues, and they seem pretty noticeable on my Dell for some reason. Maybe the hard drive is starting to show its age. But these loading spikes also happen occasionally on the PS3, FYI.
-
I hear the PS3's framerate is atrocious. Do you have one to test the demo?
I can't believe how low-tech the shadows are. -
I didn't get lag spikes on the PS3 version like I did the PC, but the visuals weren't nearly as good and the controls felt stiff.
