Lag spikes ruined what otherwise was creepy experience.
Great game, im tempted to buy if lag spikes are fixed in full version.

Judging by this demo, my brother and I will not pay full price for this, we both found it quite disappointing compared to the first game and its expansions. I'll pay $20-30 max. The Replicas here are nothing like the ones in the first game, they barely speak, coordinate with each other and curse like they did in the first game which made them some of my favorite FPS enemies of all time. This game is made by the same developer but lacks some nice little things in the previous game like the characters there. Why are you all of a sudden playing as a Delta Force operative and not the Point Man from the original who is the son of Alma? Delta Force kept getting their butts handed to them in the previous games. The demo still didn't scare me a bit like the original games and yet I absolutely cannot watch horror movies at all.
The demo is far too short for its download size, which is over 1.8gb whereas the 360 demo is less than 900mb, what the heck is up with that?
I can't believe the game forces you to 16:9 with letterboxing, totally lame. I hope an official or unofficial patch fixes this. What about people who still have 4:3 monitors and console gamers with 4:3 TVs, you'll lose a lot of viewing space. This game has definitely been toned down because its a multi-platform title, darn you you consoles! Sorry for my ranting and raving.... -

im also interesting in knowing why on earth this demo didnt have native Xbox 360 controller support......thats really weird for a game that comes out in 2009....

The graphics suck for an FPS released in 2009. It seems like the overdone blur and grain are an attempt to cover it up.
-
Also what about some 360 and PS3 owners with 4:3 TVs, is their picture also cut off?
I am also upset at recent PC games not having demos like console owners. For instance, the PC lacks a demo of Dead Space but 360/PS3 gets one. Thank goodness there was a demo of FEAR 2 as I was ready to buy it on day one since I loved the original game and its two expansions. But the demo has made me delay getting the game until the price is reduced. -
I thought the game was pretty intense and much more enjoyable,so far, to the first FEAR, i will def be getting this one.
-
Does anyone have an issue where there is no sound at all? The only sound i hear is during the intro when the WB logo and monolith logo are shown beyond that point there is no sound.
-
I liked it, might buy when it is around $25.
-
Loved it, can't wait for release. Does anyone know if there will be a Special Edition or Collector's Edition released on PC? Anyway, I loved it so much I made two videos and here they are. XD
Just playing the demo and intro:

Nice videos! Thanx!

Yep, had a ball with the demo, and am totally happy with the graphics... will definately snag it on Steam on launch day.
-
Wasn't overly impressed with this. Playing on medium difficulty it was insanely easy. I could run around and kill almost every enemy with the scissor kick and losing only minimal life. I will also pick this up when it drops under $30. For now I will save my cash and pick up Empire: Total War when it drops in March.

i cannot play this game. it was scary as heck.
It was that scray skinny that jumped out at me.
oh and btw...8800m 9800m gts users. you can max this game out no prob at 40fps and up. Super smooth -
The one thing I did like about this game...mech suit!
Although, I don't really think it fits wih the game mechanics of the original game. Then again, most of this game doesn't. -
what the heck is wrong with this game. I can OC to 625 925 1550 on all games and never get a random downclock. Even after 2 hours of crysis. But on this game i get downclocks all the time. Hopefully the final version of the game wil not have this problem or a demo patch could be released.
Who else has a OC 8800m GTS and has played the demo. Have you had any problems. -
-
I can`t change to darned resolution from 1024x640 !!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAARRRGH ! -
anyone got any info on my downclocking problem
-
-
AH WELL.Then ill w8 till a newer driver then the one i have comes out. Then ill try to finish the demo. Till then ill continue playing warhead endlessly. And going to parties. High SCHOOL IS OUT IN NY. WHO HOOOO....SEMESTER BREAK
-
I guess it`s time to let them go -
-
10x, I will, about time to update anyway...
-
i liked it. runs okay on medium 1024*600.
a few things that need fixing though:
console-like hud.
no slowmo fx
no film grain option
no leaning -

As far as the game design goes, it's definitely aimed at consoles. Slower pace, weapon sighting for a more finer mode of control when it comes to aiming with control sticks, the sprint button. I do like the addition of a pick-up/action button and the semi/auto fire rate select is cool, but unnecessary for a game where you really don't need it. Also the hit indicator "X" really isn't needed too. In a game like Battlefield 2 (the first game I can think to have the hit "X" indication), it's necessary to help with all the confusion that monsoons about, but honestly game designers need to get off of the CoD4 bandwagon. Also FEAR 2 has this somewhat annoying soft look probably due to the ambient occlusion. Despite ranting, it's still very cool, and alot more creepy than the first one. I can't make real judgement until I get my hands on the final game. -
185.20 is the driver i have. Do not OC and play FEAR 2 if you are using the 185.20 driver. It will downlclock and crash occasionaly.

Thanks, sorry someone I thought said they were running it maxed out, so to me maxed out means max resolution and details.
-
this game is definitely a port from consoles, mouse sensitivity was ridiculous. it would be scary if i had a better graphics card

Performance is great. Very fluid with everything on max(no AA or motion blur) at 1280x1024.
BUT have no sound. Get an sound acceleration problem warning when opening the game and even if I turn sound acceleration off completely makes no difference. Anybody else have this problem and know how to cure it? My laptop has no problem with its hardware. -
I had to run everything on low it got choppy at times. It was bittersweet because it was too short but creepy game tho.
-
Wow, I was fairly impressed. I must admit, I wasn't expecting much out of this, but it was enjoyable. Not to mention it looked and ran beautifully.
At 1280x1024 it still lacked any horribly noticeable jaggies, believe it or not. Ran it maxed out for 45+ fps. -
And those lag spikes definitely must be fixed in the final release. They were annoying the hell outta me. -
Ugh, the loading times are way too long. I died a few times, and wanted to quit the game.
-
Edit: I am at 1300 X something I forget which running all max except occlusion and no AA I get well over 40 FPS on an 8700m. Hope this level of optimization remains for the release. -
-
A little unrelated, but they have an interesting website with maybe some hints into the storyline. Haven't had the patience to work my way through all of the calendar entries.

any word on if the multiplayer portion of this game is gonna do anything special? i tend to only get into games if they have a strong mp side.

uh that's not ok... my friend is playing on desktop with 2gigs of ram and 7300gt on medium low...
even with ddr2 memory, it must work a lot better than on 7300gt -

LOL I managed to dash to the end of that section but upon opening the doors I die so my "saved game" leads straight to my death, have to start again now darn it
-
It runs maxed out on my system, smooth, 4xFSAA , 16xAA...
However...the demo is soooo short, I barely got a chance to use the robot thingy...
