    I don't like the Plasma rifle that much. It's powerful, but the green stuff looks so strange and weird.

    Wait till you get the "Gatling Laser".... that is one insane weapon right there. You can pick it anytime you want by going to Deathclaw sanctuary. It's actually a unique version of the gatling laser. Best weapon ever! :D

    This game is very nicely optimized i think. I dont really know too much about how games work, but my sager m860tu with 9800GT will max this game right out and get no less than 30 fps. Cant say that Im too great at games at all; Im only level 5 or six i think, but the game is wicked fun and it doesnt take much to run well.

    okay, with my friend's 1530, i managed to get about 30-50 fps average inside the vault, but when there's a crowd of people it drops down to about 20. I just exited the vault and the fps is between 15-30.

    note: none of the latest drivers have been installed. just the ones that came with the lappy.

    running vista, 1280x800 all setting on very high quality AA x2

    im gonna try to lower the AA, install new drivers and see how the fps is a little later

    With the AA to 0 and AF to 2, shadows to low, my framerate increased from 20 to 40-50ish outside of the vault

    I believe you can switch between 1st and 3rd person view. So yes (I think...).

    Yes, Fallout 3 can be played in a 3rd person or 1st person view. Once in 3rd person you can adjust the "camera distance" to your character as well. Easier to tell when you're running around without armor on in this view :)

    **** this game runs on very high on a 1530. Then there should be some mods soon to make it run on like ultra high like they did with crysis.

    Really? Nice! I was hearing that it could only run smooth on medium. What drivers are you using? I currently have the 175.97 from Dell, but i'm wondering if I should update to the latest Dell driver or go laptopvideo2go.

    fallout 3 has huge jumps in fps depending on where you are and how many people are on screen; on my 8800GTS i can have 50fps out in the open or i can have 30fps or i can have 15fps in certain other spots indoor or outdoor, this is at max settings 1440x900 no AA

    If you turn down every setting one tick only, shadows and spec lighting to 2/3 you can run 2AA/4AF and it looks much better.

    personally im pretty satisfied with the graphics at 1440x900 even with no AA, its the gameplay that made me quit the game not the graphics; i thought about replaying it as a good character but honestly didnt feel like it was even worth the effort

    im done with single player games for now after playing some of the multiplayer zombie mods out there....insanely fun

    Hi all !

    I've played Fallout 3 for a week, and it runs well on my laptop. But only in 1024*768 (I can't select a higher resolution, does my graphic card block higher resolutions ?).
    I've an issue : what drivers are best for FO3 with a GeForce 8700M GT ? I use a Toshiba X200-20G, if anyone can help me ! :) I tried 180.43 but some crashes happened...

    And also sorry for my english :eek:

    I'm still using 177.79, runs perfect.

    Also, are you changing the resolution with the disc launcher, that's the only way I know to change it. :cool:

    Hi everyone I'm using a Dell XPS 1730 with 2 x 8800m GTX's in sli and a 2.6 Ghz Dual core. I have made up some performance drivers that are really good if you use an external display with an sli laptop.

    I can't post a link until I have 15 posts, so check the 1730 owners lounge for a link to the drivers, they are modded 180.42's

    I get around 40 - 60 fps in Fallout 3 1920 x 1200 ultra settings

    I'd say the DX10 update also improves performance.

    Thanks Jmna, I've tested this drivers for hours today, no trouble has occured !
    I've also succeded to put 1440*900, very nice but a bit unplayable by night, or at dawn, when light effects are important :D

    Core Duo T2300 1.66GHz, 2GB DDR2 667MHz, Radeon x1600 256mb, 100GB HDD

    Runs fine on 1280*800; Minimum settings => from 35 - 60 FPS

    Same resolution, tweaked settings according to www.tweakguides.com:
    Settings about medium-high => from 16 to 30 FPS; mostly 18 - 25, very playable.
    Low-Medium goes from 40 to 65 but I prefer the medium-high because of the visuals and gameplay effect.

    Haven't tried lowering the resolution yet.

    Any ideas for increasing performance?

    Turn res down to 1024 x 640, textures medium, disable shadows(useless @ low res and reduced settings), then have your pick between HDR and Lower fade distance or Bloom with higher fade. You want 30+ in this game or it gets very unpleasant.
