What sort of performance do you guys think I could get on my laptop (in my signature) at 900p? I don't expect ultra or high, but I can live with that.

I wonder though, will Betha let Obsidian make a new Fallout game between 4 and 5, because that would be sweet. Although I'm not sure Obsidian would do it anymore considering the way Betha treated them...
One can dream though, one can dream...
In the mean time, I reinstalled this classic:

Besides, you can get a laser weapon or something (looks and functions similar to this) pretty early on. I outfitted mine with scope and it was good. -

A question to all the "scientists" who have tried the game, have they improved the companion AI?
Edit: I found one clip which is not so promising. LOL

But yes, if you played New Vegas or Skyrim, the animations and pathfinding for the dogs can't compare. I remember one quest in Skyrim that paired you with an immortal dog as a partner. He was constantly knocking me off of cliffs and bridges, etc.
The animations for this one are more lifelike, also I think they found a good balance between immortal companions that make the game too easy vs companions that get killed too easily, so you don't want to take them anywhere.
What's new in Fallout 4 is they do significant damage for a short period, but then they get injured, and stop fighting. You can't accidentally kill them with friendly fire, but you can heal them with a stimpak.PrimeTimeAction likes this. -

I only tried Dogmeat as my companion during my research and for me it seemed a mixed bag. He helps during fight, from time to finds stuff, but also vanishes somewhere, walks though mines, etc. I also got stuck a few times and Dogmeat refused to move.
It's basically the same as every Bethesda game. Now I remember why I spent most of time in pervious games alone... Well maybe a bit better this time. But it terms of usefulness don't expect D-Dog out of Dogmeat...
As for human companions, they now drop a line or two, like Serana from Skyrim, and if I heard right, they can also engage in a short dialogue with you.
I had a couple of human companions join me as part of a mission, and they are pretty good in fights, not so useless anymore. So that's definitely good.PrimeTimeAction likes this. -
This was tested going from the first vault down to Sanctuary. The drop to 50 came when going through the tress with all the shadows. Actually haven´t looked at the fps since, probably should do that. But it feels smooth.
Edit: Forgot what i was supposed to write in the first place..
AMD Catalyst 15.11.1 is out with improvements for Fallout 4 among others. According to Sweclockers there are a few fps improvements.
And regarding the game itself, I like it! The problem I have with games like this is I can´t leave a single stone unturned so it takes forever to actually progressLast edited: Nov 17, 2015moviemarketing likes this. -

With the success of the new dialogue system in FO4, Bethesda decided not to sit around and improve it even further
Also a nice summary from someone on Steam:

I gotta admit, of all the jokes, I laugued the most at that dialogue....
And now I almost started playing new vegas, but that's dangerous.... and I have so many games to finish. -

Fallout 4 Is Full of Bugs, But Fixing Them Could Ruin It
http://www.wired.com/2015/11/fallout-4-bugs/
"Whenever a new Bethesda game comes out, I hope and pray that it’s just as buggy and unpolished as its previous games.
Thankfully, Fallout 4 is no exception, with reviewers and players calling out its creaky engine, poor companion AI, sub-par animation, and many other glitches and bugs. Some see this as a failure of Bethesda to get with the program and embrace modern-day AAA polish. I don’t. Each time a new release is as rough and buggy as those that came before, it shows Bethesda is focused on the right things."

Fallout 4 is entirely annoying. I can't get out of the first town (Concord) because I have no bobby pins and I've looked in every house, and trying to avoid that stupid dinosaur creature thing. And my dog's been shot and I used 3 stimpacks on myself because I got hurt, now he's down. So all I've been doing for an hour is running around trying to find bobby pins and stimpacks and none are to be found anywhere.

As for the deathclaw, here is a tip
you can try fighting him from inside the church
I know the sound the dog makes when he's injured sounds like he's dying, but he's immortal, once you kill the deathclaw / get out of combat, he will recover automatically.
And you can use food to heal yourself instead of stimpaks. -
Every time I go into the church, deathclaw is nowhere around, only when I go out. And I need a dang bobby pin to access whatever that dude asked me to access. It said I needed to get a stimpack for the dog ,not for me. I can use food for me, but it said dog is hurt find a stimpack.

What you have to do is sort of run out, shoot him a few times, then retreat to safety and hit him with all you got while he is approaching the entrance. You can use the same tactic in the other buildings.
The dog makes a sound like he's dying, but if you don't have any stimpacks, you can just wait until the battle is over and he will jump back to full health. Anyways even if you give him a stimpak, the Deathclaw will quickly take him down again.
EDIT: Oh wait, I think you mean you need the bobby pin to get the fusion core? So you are not wearing power armor right now? -

Can't remember what password is but just try the different words on the screen until you get the right one. I couldn't find any Bobby pins either lol.
-
Once you interact with computer There's words on left and right you can select with mouse. I remember the right word was on the right about 3/4 of the way down.
I had to use the computer 3 times before I happened to pick the right word.Last edited: Nov 21, 2015 -

There is a way to get in by hacking the computer, otherwise you can just run away from the town, do some other stuff and come back later when you are stronger and/or have another fusion core or bobby pins.
If you have Jet, it's helpful for escape from rampaging deathclaws. -
I feel your pain HT, I'm struggling in the same spot... I've even got the Power Armor and still get wiped out immediately by that damn "deathclaw".... way too early in the game for this mission IMO. Was really enjoying it up to this point though (3.5 hours in) but now totally at a stand still for 5 days lol.
I ignore the dog like others said during the battle, but simply can't take down (or honestly even scratch) the deathclaw thing. -
I killed the death claw the first try. Made sure my health was full I was in the armor suit and started shooting from half way down the street with the big gun and by the time he got to me he was almost dead. He whooped on me a little bit and then I finished him off with gun. I think the trick is to start shooting him from a distance when he's not looking and by the time he notices you and actually gets down to were your at there's enough time to do enough damage to take him out.

Edit: A Ha! Will have to go back and get this...
For someone not that familiar with Fallout they sure don't offer you any guidance to this.
Edit Edit: Ah, found some bobby pins in the building and after four attempts go the lock to work and now have power armor and killed that darn beast. Sheesh.Last edited: Nov 22, 2015hmscott, Mr Najsman, moviemarketing and 2 others like this. -

Bobby pins were pretty scarce in the beginning of the game for me as well. I remember I had like two of them, one broke, the other was used for few hours, until I found some more. And I dig through crap, but it took time to find backup.
As for Deathclaw, it took me a couple of attempts to kill it. One of my strategies was to run around a nearby car wreckage and shoot at it, while it chased me. When bullets ended I ran away, taking few hits while at it, out of its agro zone. Took out my laser musket and noscope360'ed it.
It had very little health left, but it still took some time to finally finish it off. Damn bullet sponges! -

You can run in to the building right there near the entrance, the deathclaw can't enter; you kill it. Yeah I know its exploiting terrain but Beth was dumb to put that battle right in the beginning of the game....plus I live by the Dark Souls philosophy so I didn't feel guilty. at. all.

At first I didn't realize he couldn't follow you inside, so I lured him to one of the cars and blew it up with molotov. When a car explodes, it's quite powerful in this game, took off a decent chunk of his health.

No, it means I haven't even bothered to purchase the game... I have all the old ones to play plus I have a ton of GoG games I haven't played yet... I won't get FO4 until GOTY unless someone has a wicked sale on it like Bundle Stars did with their Fallout bundle.

Also pleasantly surprised it runs at all on my laptop. Probably the most fun game I've played since Skyrim. So far I'm around 80 hours in and still level 17, hardly touched any quests yet.
They really nailed the settlement system and the crafting. You end up feeling excited to find a broken lamp because it has some piece you need to turn your gun into a sniper rifle or add some turrets to one of your settlements, etc.
The combat is a lot more visceral feeling than the previous Fallout games.Last edited: Nov 22, 2015 -

I'd kill for frame rate that high - most of the time on lowest possible settings it's in the range of 15-20fps for me, but some areas with special lighting are very hard to play, only 7-10fps. -

I used WAY too much minigun ammo on the first part of the battle with just the raider dudes, I only had 120 bullets left when I realized there was a damn deathclaw after I killed them from the rooftop. Whoops. -
Anyways I just picked up The Pipboy Edition for $160 on eBay. Sure it's a markup, but it's by far the cheapest markup I've seen since they sold out lol. I'll let you guys know how it runs for me.
