I want to give it a shot again. I'm sure there are some mods to bring it 'up-to-date' a bit. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
FO4 has... well, dialogue wheel with four "yes" options and a build mode with a UI which makes me want to commit a suicide (playing on PC with KBAM). -
-
I'm not a FO fan myself, but even I know the original FO was a rich RPG game. FO3 and NV followed along that heritage. Where it gave players huge amounts of customization and choices to create a character of their own. These were games for people truly interested in role playing, the RPG.
FO4, c'mon, it's huge departure. Simplified responses, simplified choices, often meaningless choices, choices added for the sole purpose of adding choices. They opted for the idiotic dumbed down for the masses 4 choice dialogue wheel system. There are always 4 choices, regardless of how dumb and stupid and pointless it may be. Yes, No, Sarcasm, Pursuasion, sarcasm pointless/useless, persuasion in effective, no also pointless. For the most part there is just one choice good, regardless of what you choose it's just good, or you can just end the quest/dialogue at no. Simplified story lines. Simplified character customization. It was dumbed down until it was accessible to the lowest denominator. There is no question FO4 is the best selling of the FO games, and there is a reason for it. Bethesda turned to maximizing profits over keeping the FO game as true to it's origin and to what their loyal fans expected.
If you can't understand why FO4 is hated so much by FO fans, I dunno what to tell you. I think it's really clear why FO4 is HATED, not disliked, HATED by fans who loved FO3 and NV. What they got was a game that was meant for you, not for them. I'm completely unsurprised you like FO4 and do not like NV. NV was made for the hardcore FO fans. FO4 was made for you and I, I'm included as I'm not interested or need a deep RPG experience that NV goes so far in depth with.killkenny1 and JRE84 like this. -
yeah I won't argue New vegas was deeper. but cmon FO4 was huge, I mean huge.....some sacrifices had to be made

People stopped buying the game and cosmetic items, so Bethesda needs to find a new source of income for this game, p2w items being obvious choice ;-)

I did watch the video. The person in it is rambling about Thief being worse than previous ones and also about game industry in general. While it is true that Thief was much worse than previous ones in terms of everything - this does not apply to all modern games.

You are using the "Not all" fallacy.
https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Not_all
Not all (also known as Not all X) is a turn of phrase that attempts to force unnecessary "nuance" into a subject that already has nuance, either by:
- Deflecting fully specific criticism by pretending it's actually quite unspecific (see first form), or
- Insisting that you need not be specific yourself when dishing out criticism to others (see second form)

Bethesda Is Officially Obsolete (The Jimquisition)
Jim Sterling
Published on Oct 28, 2019
Bethesda has spent so much goodwill these last few years it's practically bankrupt in the faith department. Fallout 76, as has been laboriously documented, is a cavalcade of humiliation and laughably bad corporate decisions.
Then we have Obsidian coming along with The Outer Worlds, just after Bethesda launched an expensive - and broken - subscription service for Fallout 76. The Outer Worlds is pretty much everything 76 isn't, and more besides. Hell, it's the best Fallout game since Fallout 2, and it isn't even a Fallout game.
Basically, we don't need Bethesda anymore. It has served its purpose - barely adequately - and we have something better now.

The Australians are getting a refund for Fallout 76!! I wonder if Europe and other countries with similar consumer protection laws will now follow and ZeniMax (or local legal equivalent) will extend refunds to their citizens? I wish the US consumer protection laws would beef up for the digital age...
" Zenimax has said it will issue refunds to Fallout 76 users who asked for their money back between November 24, 2018 and June 1, 2019 but have yet to receive it."
Also this shows that we should ask for refunds if we are unhapp with the game even if we are pretty sure the request will get ignored, blown off, or refused at the time - and to keep the emails, tweets, texts, etc that made up the correspondence for that refund request - because that's what is needed to prove we asked for the refund during that time frame ZeniMax is offering refunds - only to those that requested them during that time period.
ZeniMax to refund Australian consumers for Fallout 76 issues
Company admits it likely misled customers over their rights
https://www.videogameschronicle.com...d-australian-consumers-for-fallout-76-issues/
" Bethesda parent Zenimax Media will refund Australian Fallout 76 buyers who complained that the online game was faulty.
Under Australian law, consumers are entitled to request a refund if a product – digital or otherwise – has a fault which amounts to a major failure.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Association (ACCC) says Zenimaz acknowledged it likely contravened Australian consumer law by misleading consumers about their rights in relation to Fallout 76.
Consumers complained to the ACCC of being denied a refund for the game despite encountering a variety of faults such as server issues, lagging, graphic and visual problems.
“When a consumer buys a product it comes with automatic consumer guarantees, and retailers must ensure their refunds and returns policies do not misrepresent what the Australian Consumer Law provides,” said ACCC commissioner Sarah Court.
“When a consumer has purchased a product that has a fault which amounts to a major failure, the Australian Consumer Law provides them with the right to ask for their choice of either a repair, replacement or refund.”
Zenimax has said it will issue refunds to Fallout 76 users who asked for their money back between November 24, 2018 and June 1, 2019 but have yet to receive it.
It will also update its customer service materials to address the ACCC’s concerns about misrepresentation of consumer guarantee rights.
The ACCC launched legal proceedings against Sony earlier this year over allegations the company refused to refund customers who bought faulty games through the PlayStation store.
Bethesda recently introduced a premium subscription model for private servers in Fallout 76. Fallout 1st subscribers can pay $12.99/£11.99 per month or $99/£99.99 annually to play the game solo or with up to seven friends in a private world."
