Try DirectX 10 if possible Game runs better using it.
And can now please anybody post his results with 9600m gt?

This isnt exactly a question about performance, but has anyone got anything to say about the DRM stuff on this game? I bought it, and now I'm afraid to install it because of all the securom stuff I've been hearing about.

Far Cry 2 on 8400m GS:
It runs at about 25fps at dx9 everything low / textures high @ 1280/800. Still looks great and is definitely playable. Here are some screens:
-
I am playing on medium with afew high settings.
Settings: Demo(Ranch Small), 1440x900 (60Hz), D3D9, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(None), VSync(No), Overall Quality(Custom), Vegetation(Low), Shading(Medium), Terrain(Medium), Geometry(Medium), Post FX(Medium), Texture(High), Shadow(Medium), Ambient(Medium), Hdr(No), Bloom(Yes), Fire(Very High), Physics(Medium), RealTrees(Very High)
* Average Framerate: 34.95

With 178.13 drivers on my 9800GT (Sager m860tu, 4 gig RAM) I get the following results (Vsync off) at 1680x1050, 2xAA (but no shadows - I hate shadows):
Average Framerate: 33.90
Max. Framerate: 52.70
Min. Framerate: 26.35
Same settings, with 180.43 drivers:
Average Framerate: 33.04
Max. Framerate: 51.14
Min. Framerate: 25.90
Settings: Demo(Ranch Small), 1680x1050 (60Hz), D3D9, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(2x), VSync(No), Overall Quality(Custom), Vegetation(Very High), Shading(Ultra High), Terrain(Ultra High), Geometry(Ultra High), Post FX(High), Texture(Ultra High), Shadow(Off), Ambient(High), Hdr(No), Bloom(No), Fire(Very High), Physics(Very High), RealTrees(Very High)
Finally, DX10, shadows high, HDR and Bloom on, 180.43 drivers:
Average Framerate: 24.13
Max. Framerate: 40.64
Min. Framerate: 18.36

the shadows are the performance hit in this game, lower them, get better FPS
, id expect that the game will even improve more when the next set of drivers come out, and a game patch is out, anyways, have anyone noticed that the Object Lighting is way too much?

Here are my Far Cry 2 settings:

Using a 8600M GT with the 180.43 custom ForceWare from laptopvideo2go WITH overclock, fps never goes below 30, so it plays smooth. This is with OC: 575MHz core clock and 800MHz Memory Clock (Standard clocks are 475MHz core clock and 700MHz memory clock)... BUT there is a defect with 8600M GT, I'm sending it in for repair soon.
I'm also thinking about disabling the shadows and putting the other settings on high. -
Vista x32 game crashes in crossfire
vista x64- entire PC locks up in crossfire on ubisoft intro logo screen
XP x64 aa off 64fps
XP x32 aa off 68fps
XP x32 4xaa 40fps
There seems to be a bug with using AA and the fire, the FPS doesn't change at all with AA on until you look at fire, then it drops by 60%
Also, one strange thing I've noticed is that in some areas, crossfire mode gets over 100% boost. I don't really understand how this is possible, but in many areas of the game, on single card I might get 25fps, yet crossfire gets something like 65fps in the same spot which is more than twice the fps. And having crossfire enabled completely removes all the small loading lag spikes I sometimes got in single card mode when doing things like blowing up a car.
now I think I'm going to install this on my new acer -

guys i m getting really crappy performance, i barely get a high of 24 fps (pecs in sig) I have used multiple drivers and am using Service Pack 1, and have done all the windows updates..Drivers used are 174.74, 179.13 and the Far Cry 2 optimized 180.xx driver....in the opening scene when the guy is driving us in the jeep the avg fps i get is 19, no matter what resolution or setting I use, (Low, high Ultra High etc) my fps is never affected..Makes me wish i had gotten this for the 360
what should i do -
-
thanks i'll try it out and see although in my case it never goes above 24
-
ok i played for abt 1 hour but no improvement, infact when i go sleep in my first safe house, and wake up later it drops to 6 fps and never increases again
im so pissed off
-
umar, turn off anything running in the back ground, run disk defrag, and if you got any memory cleaner running, turn if off, anti virus as well
-
defrag is schelduled to run everyday, i closed almost all tasks and AVG antivirus also. Still no difference
i m thinking of reinstalling windows now -

The 8.11 drivers are supposed to improve performance in Far Cr 2 by 3%-11% and in some cases more for owners of ATI's 3xxx and 4xxx series cards. Even though gameplay is plenty smooth already with the 8.10's.

Anyone running it on a 9600M GT DDR2?

I'm getting 40+FPS on my desktop system with a single 4850 at 1440 x 900 with 2xAA with settings maxed out.
-
im getting some really bad frames on my 9800 gts. this is ridiculous because i know i should be able to run this flawlessly
-
Driver issues, or you`re not running on high performance power mode.
Or unplugged perhaps? -
I'm running in 1920x1200, 9800 Gts, e8400, 4 gb dd3. -
