Try DirectX 10 if possible Game runs better using it.

And can now please anybody post his results with 9600m gt?

This isnt exactly a question about performance, but has anyone got anything to say about the DRM stuff on this game? I bought it, and now I'm afraid to install it because of all the securom stuff I've been hearing about.

i've been wondering that exact thing too. i want to get this game but the things ive read of the DRM and about only being able to install a certain number of times has me slightly worried.

Far Cry 2 on 8400m GS:

It runs at about 25fps at dx9 everything low / textures high @ 1280/800. Still looks great and is definitely playable. Here are some screens:

With 178.13 drivers on my 9800GT (Sager m860tu, 4 gig RAM) I get the following results (Vsync off) at 1680x1050, 2xAA (but no shadows - I hate shadows):

    Average Framerate: 33.90
    Max. Framerate: 52.70
    Min. Framerate: 26.35

    Same settings, with 180.43 drivers:

    Average Framerate: 33.04
    Max. Framerate: 51.14
    Min. Framerate: 25.90

    Settings: Demo(Ranch Small), 1680x1050 (60Hz), D3D9, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(2x), VSync(No), Overall Quality(Custom), Vegetation(Very High), Shading(Ultra High), Terrain(Ultra High), Geometry(Ultra High), Post FX(High), Texture(Ultra High), Shadow(Off), Ambient(High), Hdr(No), Bloom(No), Fire(Very High), Physics(Very High), RealTrees(Very High)

Finally, DX10, shadows high, HDR and Bloom on, 180.43 drivers:

    Average Framerate: 24.13
    Max. Framerate: 40.64
    Min. Framerate: 18.36

the shadows are the performance hit in this game, lower them, get better FPS :D , id expect that the game will even improve more when the next set of drivers come out, and a game patch is out, anyways, have anyone noticed that the Object Lighting is way too much?

I recently picked up a 14.1" HP notebook with basically the same setup as you (AMD Turion Ultra ZM-82 (2.2GHz) and the ATI Radeon HD 3200). I'm very impressed with this notebook so far. I able to play my personal favs (GTR2, UT3 and now FarCry2) at playable frame rates and decent resolutions. :D

    PapaChains, nice screenshots! ;)

Here are my Far Cry 2 settings:
    http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/natural/abb7580be9d54283458ca778a32bb441d6aac50e.png

Using a 8600M GT with the 180.43 custom ForceWare from laptopvideo2go WITH overclock, fps never goes below 30, so it plays smooth. This is with OC: 575MHz core clock and 800MHz Memory Clock (Standard clocks are 475MHz core clock and 700MHz memory clock)... BUT there is a defect with 8600M GT, I'm sending it in for repair soon.

I'm also thinking about disabling the shadows and putting the other settings on high.

Hmm, ok, I just ran a few more tests on different OS's on my Crossfire HD 4850 desktop. all done in 1920x1080 via HDMI. cat 8.10 hotfix driver. all ultra high setting with high shadows, just testing crossfire..

Vista x32 game crashes in crossfire
vista x64- entire PC locks up in crossfire on ubisoft intro logo screen
    XP x64 aa off 64fps
    XP x32 aa off 68fps
    XP x32 4xaa 40fps

There seems to be a bug with using AA and the fire, the FPS doesn't change at all with AA on until you look at fire, then it drops by 60%

Also, one strange thing I've noticed is that in some areas, crossfire mode gets over 100% boost. I don't really understand how this is possible, but in many areas of the game, on single card I might get 25fps, yet crossfire gets something like 65fps in the same spot which is more than twice the fps. And having crossfire enabled completely removes all the small loading lag spikes I sometimes got in single card mode when doing things like blowing up a car.

now I think I'm going to install this on my new acer

Wow really? your SLI 7950GTX's get over a 2x increase with SLI? That's pretty awsome, this is the first time I've seen a game do this. It makes me happy about my recent Xfire investment :D

I figured there was something wrong with the opening of the game, even on my 4870 it seemed like no matter what I had the settings at, it never went above 47 fps. After the opening though, the game now runs 50-70fps.

umar, turn off anything running in the back ground, run disk defrag, and if you got any memory cleaner running, turn if off, anti virus as well

The 8.11 drivers are supposed to improve performance in Far Cr 2 by 3%-11% and in some cases more for owners of ATI's 3xxx and 4xxx series cards. Even though gameplay is plenty smooth already with the 8.10's.

Driver issues, or you`re not running on high performance power mode.
    Or unplugged perhaps?

Drivers are stock but I've got a 7805u that only came out in december so i don't think drivers are the issue. I'm in high performance and I'm using my stock power supply(not my portable kensington). I was under the impression that I could at least run Farcry 2 on high, if not ultra high but I'm getting low fps even on low-medium settings (around late 20s to early 30s). I run every other game on pretty much maxed settings including oblivion.

    I'm running in 1920x1200, 9800 Gts, e8400, 4 gb dd3.
