thats good to hear! i have the 3200 as well but ive been holding out until i know for sure that i can enjoy it.
whats the framerate with 1024*768 with all settings on medium. would you recommend playing it at 800*600 with everything maxed out (this is what i did for Bioshock and it worked well)

Guys, why do the people with gateway lappies seem to have problems FPS wise?
-
so all the guys running it why dont you post benchmarks ?
its in the bin directory.
gateway fps problems ? what you talking about ?
i have far cry2, crysis warhead and few other fps all running perfectly 1440x900 -
So this is my benchmarks :

I got Fable 2 a day before release.
Tearing off the "Do not sell until 10-21" on the 20th made my day. -

from the other post on far cry gameplay in this forum (see farcry2 gameplay thread), everyone has a solid hatred of this game. i have been waiting for this game for awhile and the main aspect i look for in a game is multiplayer. according to the other thread this game and i quote 'sucks donkey nutts' in terms of multiplayer - anyone else want to comment on this? i am not buying it unless it has solid multiplayer experience. any suggestions let me know, otherwise im passing this one up.
;\ too bad too cuz i thought this game was gonna pack a hell of a nice mp experience. -
Hey would anybody with a notebook including a 9600m gt be so kind and post some of his benchmarks and tell me with which settings he plays far cry 2?
Plannin' to buy a Samsung Aura Arvid Laptop (4gb ddr3 ram, 2x2,26 core 2 duo, geforce 9600gt) and i wonder how would i be able to play far cry 2.
High details? -
-
+1 for the request for 9600m GT if anyone has it please!
-
-
not sure, possible the driver being used.
-
I got 73 fps on HIGH at 1440*900 no AA.
Settings: Demo(Ranch Small), 1440x900 (60Hz), D3D9, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(None), VSync(No), Overall Quality(High), Vegetation(High), Shading(High), Terrain(High), Geometry(Medium), Post FX(High), Texture(High), Shadow(Medium), Ambient(High), Hdr(Yes), Bloom(Yes), Fire(Very High), Physics(High), RealTrees(Very High)
* Average Framerate: 73.28
* Max. Framerate: 94.87
* Min. Framerate: 54.66
But I get < 30 fps on VERY HIGH.
So someplace in between the two settings is going to be best for 6831FX owners.
The T5450 is a bottleneck, no doubt. I wish I still had my x7900 -
i hope it can run on a 8600m gt with a mix of mostly high settings at at least 1024x768
-
-
hey could some one post a bench mark on a 8600MGT ddr2 if possible,... would be nice to know how it performs before i buy it..
-
-
Hi!!
Has anyone tried the game on a single non-OC'ed Geforce Go 7950GTX? I'd like to know if my machine can handle the game before getting it. Also what would be the best drivers to use for my card?
Thanks!! -
-
BTW. I dont think SLI scales very well here .. I get only 4fps more. I really want to test those 180 -
The 9800M GTX performs amazingly with the 180.42 drivers. Lower end GPUs seem to get less performance comparatively. In crysis, I get 2-3fps more with 180 compared to 178.
Your right with the SLi. And your CPU is far better than mine too. -
-
So I just ran the benchmark again with those 180.40 and all I can say is wow. I get an average of 50fps now instead of 43. 7fps difference - I m getting closer and closer to the magical 60fps range.
PS
I also think that the most important part here is that the game never slows down under 43-45fps. That with everything maxed out. -
well yeah, thats what the driver is supposed to do
EDIT: Emike, mind seeing what ive posted here?

Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
I posted this in the other FC2 thread, thought I'd put it here too.

just spent hour playing on my hd2600 256mb ddr2. all set to medium. frame rates between high twenties and mid forties. (1024-768) not bad prob get bit more with tinkering
-
8400m GS results anyone?
-
how good would far cry 2 run on a 9800M GT?
-
I'm running at 1650x1080 with the "very high" overall setting. Looks brilliant, runs smooth. Using drivers 177.92, but thinking about trying some newer ones.
Edit - This is in response to the person above me. -
People mind posting your specs before saying results, some people are searching for benchmarks similar to their cards

usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I got a good increase in performance by simply changing shadows from Ultra High to Very High with all other settings maxed out at 1440 x 900 with 2xAA.
-
this is on your desktop right? x1600 can't possibly do that
-
8800gts 640mb
Settings: Demo(Ranch Small), 1680x1050 (60Hz), D3D10, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(2x), VSync(Yes), Overall Quality(Optimal), Vegetation(Very High), Shading(Very High), Terrain(Very High), Geometry(Very High), Post FX(High), Texture(Very High), Shadow(Very High), Ambient(High), Hdr(Yes), Bloom(Yes), Fire(Very High), Physics(Very High), RealTrees(Very High)
* Average Framerate: 38.41
* Max. Framerate: 53.13
* Min. Framerate: 33.27
No difference between drivers 180.43 and 178/175 (can't remember what I just deleted) -
what about the 8600GT?
-
well my specs are:
Intel Centrino 2 Core2Duo P8400
4GB RAM
nVidia Geforce 9800M GT
Don't know if that changes anything from what that guy said before about running it on "very high" overall.... -
-
I'm using older drivers and no SP1 pack installed and results :
Everything set to High
1280x800 (63Hz)
Average framerate 30.91
Minimum 22.52
Maximum 46.28
8600M GT (DDR3) -
Akuma thats wonderful, thanks for clearing things up, now i know what kind of performance i will be expecting, apperantly, setting Shadows to very high kills the performance on most of the systems here i guess
-
I think my favorite part about this game is how well it scales on my desktop.
I ran the benchmark testing crossfire on vs off.
Settings, all ultra high, except only high shadows, in 1920x1080 res. short test.
Crossfire on, 64 FPS
Crossfire off, 36 FPS
The game scales very well imo, very happy with the performance!
So how's the scaling on SLI? -
-
I dont get it ='(
# Total Frames: 877, Total Time: 51.05s
# Average Framerate: 17.18
# Max. Framerate: 23.12 (Frame:127, 6.50s)
# Min. Framerate: 13.09 (Frame:664, 39.09)
Those are my results with everything on High, DirectX 9
1024x768 resolution, No AA
my average framrate is alot lower than yours yet I have the EXACT same specs :S
EDIT: the specs are =P
Acer 6920G:
T5750 2.0GHZ
Geforce 9500MGS Which I thought was equivalent to an 8600M GT
and 4gb of ram
Im running Vista, latest drivers, any thoughts people? -
-
i have 2-3fps more on 5920g with 180.43.
and he has gddr3 memory on his graphic card... and ur card have ddr2 memory -
I usually find that if performance becomes an issue, you can get the best results by disabling character shadows and cranking up AA/AF, resolution, textures, and effects. -
