Sounds like some sort of driver issue perhaps.

The game runs fine for me at 1920x1080 with a single 5830m, tried both Catalyst 12.8 and Catalyst 12.11 Beta 11. Didn't try 12.9, 12.10 or the previous 12.11 beta drivers.

lmfao, I have never encountered any of those glitches, the only one that was able to do was the torch light gun spinning a barrel.
Those aren't necessarily in game glitches, could be very well his system specs are poor, you can tell he is playing at low settings.

Nope, I play maxed out and get 60 FPS stable on a GTX 670 FTW and i5 2500k. I gave up on laptop gaming, I sold my clevo, built a $1000 gaming rig and just bought an ordinary $500 laptop that can handle all my school work programs. never have to worry about any bottlenecking for the next 2 years.

Your sig says you've ordered a P150EM with a GTX 680M though. On my GTX 680M, I have all settings as high as they can go apart from Water and I get from 60-70+ fps. I will never give up on laptop gaming.

That is odd... have you tried playing on just one? I'm running a single 5870 in my now aging G73 and the game runs great... native res (1600x900) and medium/high settings. Have about 12 hours in so far and not a single hiccup yet. I am running the 12.11 beta 11's.

Fantastic game by the way! As others have said, it's an awesome mix of several great play types. Game of the year in my humble opinion. Few games draw me in like this one has.

If you're having trouble running it, yet you have a powerful system, make sure the in-game vsync is set to 1 or 0. Setting it to 2 cuts my fps in half...

The game itself is genius! This is a fun game. I am impressed, Ubisoft. Because of how much I like this game, I am considering purchasing AC III. I give it a 9/10, only because there are bugs. If Ubisoft had tested this game for another 3 months, I'm sure it would be nearly perfect.

Barely any bugs, most that are reported are because of low end system specs. Just a little more tweaking with gpu drivers and it is near perfect. Multiplayer is fixed, still crappy due to peer to peer instead of dedicated servers but it was unplayable last week.

Having a lot of fun with the map editor, you can create your own missions yourself. Haven't been able to find a game on custom maps though, i think nobody plays the custom maps publicly.

It would be great if they tied this to Steam workshop, so you could upload your maps and share them with your steambros. Unfortunately, it seems Ubisoft wants everyone to use Uplay, but it doesn't have any of the functionality of the Steam client.

It won rockpapershotgun.com's goty, good to see it getting some recognition after being snubbed by most of the gaming media for 2012 goty awards. I don't pay much attention to that kind of stuff, but I thought FC3 is deserving of praise. It's probably the most fun I've had with any game this year.

With the latest driver (see signature), I'm getting 60 and above. Huge improvement! Love it! It really makes a difference... Both GPU's are about 60C-65C, and the maximum I've seen over a couple hours of game-play is 67C.

Same, but lets be honest. We get a game we want and never find time to play it and it just adds onto our massive Steam collection lol.

The great thing about it is though unlike people that collect real life things all over the house we atleast do not have to dust ours off.

seeing how it is 1) an ubisoft game, 2) released at the end of november, I doubt it will go on sale any time soon, unless you want the uplay version which is dirt cheap right now.

You're right, I'm sure that contributed, but most of the sites don't do the nominations and awards until late December. I've seen FC3 on quite a few nominations and honorable mention lists, just not any goty awards until today.

Wish I had more time to play. Then again, I have my boys to play with. Although I can't shoot them or throw them off a cliff. But pretending to can be fun too, lol.

I disagree. But only that it should not be in the running for GOTY THIS year. I would wager that publications not listing it among their choices for GOTY will have it listed next year. Having it up for the award this year is almost unfair. Its so incredibly fresh in everyones mind while other amazing games (say...Mass Effect) are now not gettig the praise they deserve since FC3 is the "new hot thing". GOTY, very possible. This years GOTY? I dunno bout that. Lets see it go against Bioshock or Pikmin or...or....Star Trek (a man can dream for a good ST game).

I see your point, but there are a bunch of other games from November that are included in 2012 GOTY awards, why shouldn't FC3 be included? As for Mass Effect, it was a good game, though definitely not as well-received as the last two. And that ending... oh god, that ending... lol

Far Cry 3 is one of my favorite games of all time, but it doesn't deserve GOTY at all. Wanna know why? They were FAR to obscure with the depth behind the story.

It's a fantastic game, the bow-and-arrow being the most rewarding weapon in any game EVER, being one of the few games that I really thought was fun after playing it 5 hours straight. But with all the intricacies of the plot, it fails to deliver the message to the majority of players, meaning it did, lets face it, fail quite miserably at telling the story.

Although a minority of players, including myself, had the ability to spot the deeper plot, one of the developers even had to explain half of the game to the public. That's an absolute disgrace! Apart from that, I think this may be on the top ten list of games ever, having sucked more time in a week out of my social life then any other game this year.

    *SPOILER ALERT*

The r.a.p.e in the story was also handled remarkably pitifully. Do r.a.p.e well, or don't do it at all. That sounds seriously messed up, doesn't it?....... -.-

I agree, it was also pretty low-brow to make the only openly character a rapist. There are problems with the plot, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be considered for GOTY. You said yourself it's one of your favorite games of all time. It's certainly not perfect, but I had more fun in my 50+ hours of FC3 than with any other game that came out this year. The gameplay and setting are simply fantastic and overshadow the ridiculous and insensitive hollywood action plot.

I can assure others that this Far Cry 3 is not GOTY material.
It's an ok and good game but definitely not worthy of GOTY status.

I rate Assassin Creed 3 better much more deeper story and realistic too with higher graphic quality than Far cry 3. I noticed in Far cry 3 the mountains in the background are all blurry and no detail. Very poor IMHO. I am sure there are plenty others who will disagree with me and fair enough that's ok too. I just found the game too linear not many unique challenges, average AI of enemy and graphics which should have been better implemented on pc.

The Dunia engine has some of the best draw distances of any game engine out there. There are some bad textures on mountains where the textures are basically stretched out and become low-res. Other than that, I thought it was a beautiful game, and definitely a better pc port than AC3. AC3 runs awful on most amd/ati cards, especially in cities. I can't run the game at a decent framerate while in Boston, even on the lowest settings. In terms of combat, AC3 is really shallow compared to FC3. I like Assassin's Creed games, but they're way too simple and easy, and guards basically stand around waiting for you to kill them. FC3 has so many different ways of approaching combat, from stealth and melee combat to all-out action with machine guns and explosives. Every weapon feels unique and can be customized to your liking, and you can use the environment (wildlife, fire, etc.) to your advantage. There are definitely goofy parts (the magic elements, the story, some bad characters) but it's all forgivable to me when I'm sneaking through an enemy camp or moving swiftly through the jungle hunting exotic animals. I absolutely love the map editor too; the devs added AI so you can add all the wildlife, enemies, and allies you want. FC3 is also a resource hog, but it still runs soooo much better than AC3. There are also a lot of things I didn't like about AC3. The story starts SO slow, it takes around 5 hours for things to really pick up. They've also added so many little gameplay elements but have mostly forgotten about the focus of the series: assassinations. You spend the vast majority of your time doing everything but tracking and killing targets, which hurts the game imo. The naval missions are cool, but I'd rather be out stealthily killing bad guys instead of selling animal pelts to fix up my house. Far Cry 3 is a better Assassin's Creed than Assassin's Creed 3 will ever be imo.

    Interesting comments.
I installed AC3 and FC3 at around the same time. Finsihed FC3 within a few days or so. AC3 is still going.
I do agree for some that FC3 looks fabulous and is unique in it's own way but I find AC3 graphically better and runs really well here...not sure why but yeah that's how it goes...

I can't stand the fact I cannot play any past levels of FC3. Once I finished it that was it no unlock past levels nothing. Pretty weird stuff as most other games the levels are open.
I have played now Crysis2 with MaldoHD and this simply blows away the competition. It is truly the best game graphically speaking with this mod not sure if crysis1 can match it but yeah amazing mod.

I wish I could play some FC3 again but definitely not from the start again...With AC3 I find it at times boring but graphically it is very impressive. The missions are quite unusual and sometimes I wonder what was the point of this one.??

Anyway let's hope 2013 brings some better games.
I am starting to think that Hitman Absolution is probably the GOTY at this stage and I very much liked MaxPayne3 that was awesome..

Yeah Crysis 2 with MaldoHD is without a doubt the best looking game ever made. I'm excited for the final release of MaldoHD, there will be texture improvements and compatibility with the Quality Mod :).

Replayable missions would have been a good addition to FC3, but I like playing from the beginning anyway so I'm not going through early missions with overpowered gear and stats.

All in all it's been a pretty decent year for games. We got Max Payne 3, Mass Effect 3, Far Cry 3, Hitman: Absolution, Xcom, Sleeping Dogs, AC3, The Walking Dead, etc. 2013 will be better.

Don't blame ubisoft for the graphics cons, blame consoles. Don't forget that Crytek developed the first Far Cry right before they made Crysis. If it weren't for consoles being big and able to generate much much more than PC sales, Far Cry should have had better graphics than Crysis. Game developers do not care about PC gamers anymore, we will only see improvement once the next generation consoles raise their bar right below PC capabilities, probably going to be on par with a GTX 560 performance.

The only thing missing for FC3 is real "boss fight" imo. Killing mobs all days is not rewarding ~~. Would be great if there is a mini-boss say in a outpost, and make the plot boss fight more reasonable instead of "just because".

Can you explain a bit more why you believe next gen consoles will result in PC games with much better graphics compared with current gen multiplatform titles?

We already have plenty of PC exclusives and they are not mindblowingly different from the multiplatform titles in terms of graphics. As for current gen multiplatform titles, we can already scale up resolution and add many graphics features unavailable on consoles. We might see some improvement there when next gen consoles have better baseline graphics, but I doubt they will blow everyone away.

Personally what's more exciting for me is not the gen graphics, but the fact that the consoles will have more than 256MB RAM and faster CPUs, enabling better interactivity, more dynamic open world game systems, etc.

We can already scale up the resolution for a current gen PC port, use DX11, high quality shadows, anisotropic filtering, high res texture packs, etc., but there is no way to "scale up" better A.I., larger, more interactive and complex game world, more actors onscreen, more persistent data, etc., as these are fundamental game design choices baked into the engine which are severely restricted by the limited memory and weak CPUs of current console hardware.

I cannot agree more with the last part. However, to be even considered for GOTY, a game needs a deep and compelling story, which FC3 tries to do, but fails to convey it to the player in a GOTY-quality way. If it was only gameplay that matters, then Super Hexagon should be at the very least a nominee. ;)

Random Question: How did you get the specs as a signature? Any help would be appreciated.

To each his own. I don't think there are any specific characteristics that a game needs in order to be "goty" material. FC3's plot is shallow, but it services the gameplay and setting well, putting the player in interesting situations to shoot/stealth his way out of. Most importantly, it's fun to play :)

To edit your signature, click "settings" in the top right of the screen, then look for "edit signature" on the left sidebar about halfway down the page.

The mission where you kill Buck was already disturbing enough, what more do you want from it? lol

Well the story line isn't supposed to be a fairy-tale with a happy ending. Its supposed to represent insanity which it did quite well. Everyone in the island is supposed to be insane and it made the main character insane. I agree it was a little too hollywood especially the boss fights. Only boss fight i enjoyed was that red faced monster.

This pretty much explains the very first setting. You had to look for it in the game.

To a certain extent, I agree. A boss or two every now and then for 1000 experience points and some cash would be nice. They kind of implemented bosses by finding those leaders for bounty (from the billboards) and killing them, but they're a little too easy, and far too quick to deal with. The domination of fortresses is great, that is an excellent aspect of Far Cry 3. It's fun, challenging, and makes you wanna claim another!

Oh, that's pretty accurate. I wouldn't say it is the best game ever, but it's definitely one of the best of 2012. I think I'm about half way through the game already and I am already anticipating the bummed out feeling I'll have when it's over! :( Too bad there aren't more games this year which can claim this...
