So is there a built-in benchmark in Far Cry 4?

oct how does it run for you?

Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
Loaded up the 14.11.2 beta for alleged better FC4 support and no, not better. The stutter was really increased and so bad it was unplayable, loaded my 14.9 whql image and it's acceptable again.

Anyone has a feedback for this game running on an 970M GTX?
-
I used to keep older drivers, because an optimized driver means quality drop. So far running really well an Radeon 8870M, everything is on high.

Didn't get to play much but Ultra was okay for my 680m 4gig. It was a little too micro-stuttery for me so I'll probably play around with the settings more later this week. I'll probably bump everything down to high and see how that goes.

Really just played it first time and my 680M at 930/1100 struggled at ultra. Jerky gameplay!
We will have to wait for a few more patches to comes out for performance to improve much. No way a glorified FC3 should be this demanding. -
I can't find the amd quality setting, just the nvidia one. I don't understand.
(lolololol) -
interesting video.
and yes the console does look slightly better quality compared to the pc. -

I said it before and I will say it again I love my ps4 and the ability to purchase a game and have an expectation that it will just work properly cannot be emphasized enough.

Yeah... if you grab an AMD console and run a game and then grab the game on a PC that's 2.5x (or more) stronger than said console and cannot turn up the graphics to look better than the console? Then you know somebody screwed up.
I guarantee you it was on purpose too. They claimed they wanted parity, but if the consoles can do it at resolution x and framerate x, then all gaming PCs bought in the last 3 years should be able to do so with the same results. More reason to avoid ubisoft. -
i was shocked i spent the entire time looking for differences and spotted non except uneven framerates on the pc....harsh reality i think i might pick up a console now beacuse im tired of crappy ports.

On another note -- No FOV control in FC4 = Jack Sparrow Edition -
Patched Jack Sparrow Edition has FOV control.

I mean from their perspective. If they truly believe 90% of the intended market segment is going to pirate the game and not pay a single penny for it. why even release it into said market? Do they like posting losses or something? It's entirely illogical and just doesn't add up. And so the only resonable conclusion is they're using piracy as a scapegoat for the terrible optimization. But as I've said before it is precisely $hit like this that makes me want to pirate a game. And then of course it all becomes a convenient self-fulfilling prophecy for Utter$hit.

Turns out I paid £4.49 for this game. Amazon have me a £4 refund on my order which cost me £8.49 to begin with because I had won a £30 voucher code. Not bad!
As for game optimisation, I thought it was good at first on the 980M but playing a bit more before my Gigabyte decided to play up on me revealed dips into the 40's with the NVIDIA preset (excluding TXAA) at 1080p. Game felt very stuttery too at those settings, even in the 50-60fps range.
I'll see how it plays on 780M once I've finished reinstalling windows (which will take a lifetime).

What a hopeless bunch they are. -

I hope Ubisoft goes bankrupt or changes management to somebody like whoever's running EA right now. They don't deserve the money they're getting on the PC platform, and I wish more people would tell them with their wallets, piracy or not.
And the same goes for Capcom, who haven't put any effort into a decent PC title in I can't remember how long. They're playing ring around the rosie with their IPs (and they're sitting on a goldmine: Megaman and all his spinoff series, Captain Commando, Stryder Hiryu's series, Cyberbots/Armoured Warriors, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Ghouls n Goblins, Dino Crisis, Monster Hunter, Onimusha, Breath of Fire, Ace Attorney, Rival Schools, Viewtiful Joe, and the list goes on).
They're scrapping things people want, half-assing new things and re-making everything 10 times over for more sales from already-successful games. And more importantly, almost all the PC titles suck so badly it's a joke. GFWL right up until MS claimed it would be shutting it down, broken steam netcode, releasing sequels that are LESS functionally sound than the previous game (SF4 --> SSF4 is a huge example; the game wouldn't recognize my keyboard OR my controller for a couple weeks, I had to BORROW THE OTHER COMPUTER'S KEYBOARD TO LOG IN THEN FORCE MY CONTROLLER TO BE DETECTED THEN RETURN IT TO PLAY), all sorts of other crap. Yeah they should just sell off their IPs and close down. Give Inafune back Megaman so he can finish megaman X and legends hehe.
Anyway. I went off on a tangent. But yes, some companies have gone well past their lifetime and are nothing but a blight on the gaming community right now. I rather their IPs go to more caring developers and publishers that'll actually do some good work on them for the community. -

I love their way at hurting pirates. Make them squirm! Pirates don't pay anything so deserve nothing in return.

has anyone else massive stuttering and framerate drops especially when driving?and i get also framerate drops without any reason even when not driving but its rare compared to driving framerate drops and stuttering
-
They should sack their media relations team and hire some testers.

I find enabling triple buffering helps reduce stuttering ALOT at times there is stutter but I guess in upcoming patches performance will improve. I need to get my 680M up to 1ghz asap and continue playing. 930mhz isn't quite enough juice for this game maxed at 1080p

Guys, how can i use the bait to attract animals? I can find it, but do not know how to throw...

i'm seeing my GPU temps go into the 80s if i set it to 1080p.
hitching is a problem that i'll wait for patches to come out. -

So no Ubi$stupid did not deliberately engineer in an anti-piracy control, just that the lack of foresight became an anti-pirating device by happy coincidence.

farcry 4
crysis 4
gta v and VI
witcher wild hunt
assassins creed unity and the next
weak selection
but these are the reasons I saving or was saving for a 970m laptop, now well after seeing the trend im opting out very depressing knowing crysis 1 games are dead or a dying breed.
play crysis 1 on all low
then
play on very high
notice anything?
now play farcry 4 on all low
then
play on ultra
notice the difference between crysis 1 and farcry 4
farcry 4 on ultra pc version should look like 100 times better but it doesnt, thats the reason ive been pc gaming for 20 years.
Ive decided to get a ps4 and hook up a keyboard and mouse to it if its possible -
ok now its final im just getting a ps4 this sucks for me as i prefer keyboard and mouse and am used to pc gaming doesnt mean ill ever quit pc gaming but finally a ps4 is justified
final example below
20 years later and consoles have finally caught upLast edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -
now i dont mean to troll or hijack i no nothing about consoles im a pc gamer but which is better in the long run ps4 or xbox one.
im a big forza and halo fan and gta and farcry fan but exclusives seem to be better on xbox one and the aaa games come out for both consoles. only thing that excites me abut them is 1080p 60fps planned for future games and after 2 years the programming will be so well defined that they will be graphically on the level of avatar.
I think im going for a xbox one and my reasons are this
devs will level out graphics to make them look equal
halo 5 and 6
forza
kinect
better online gaming experience
better os
power supply is seperate if it goes just buy a new one vs replacing the entire system
reasons to get ps4
smaller console nicer looker lol like that matters when it just sits there
50 percent more powerful hardware once again like that matters when devs decide what to set the limits for
um no other reasons besides streaming games at a lagging ping of 200ms
ps4 is what i have told renta center i want but after spending 4 hours on you tube comparing im going for a gmaing laptop and xbox one
pc exclusives and halo and im one happy camper i just hope the 980m lasts more than a year at 1080 p
what do you guys think -

I can't play this anymore. Shame really! Looking forward to it. Now got to wait for Ubi$oft to release some patches....

So far, AMD GPU's are doing a lot better than comparable Nvidia ones. And to think that Far Cry 4 is an Nvidia-sponsored GameWorks™ title which got a release day driver update. Falls in line with Nvidia's track record this year of poor drivers and general incompetence that started with the 880M.

I'd like to see more sites report frame time analysis instead of just the FPS. After reading up on frame pacing in multi-GPU setups I now understand why 45 FPS in SLI feels less smooth than 45 FPS on a single GPU, or heck even 35 FPS on a single GPU (true story™
. Also explains why Watch Dogs stutters like mad in some areas even though apparent FPS is above 60.
