there are a lot of mods out there for pro evolution soccer that fix the name problems! i think that pes is more realistic and just feels more natural than fifa, just my subjective opinion. i still remember how u could score a goal from the mid-filed in earlier versions of fifa lol

If I have understood correctly, EA isn't helping us with anything!
All they do is trying to gain some time and telling us to do things that would never solve our problem!

    Not looking good...

Weird... Both my FiFA 07/08 were slow in menu(highest setting), but the gameplay are smooth(just installed 08, haven't played yet).

My specs is 8400M G with 156.31 driver and 1.5GB RAM, Vista 32bit.

In case you weren't joking, there's a difference between "not supporting" and "completely not working on" laptops :p

And I second the move to PES, esp. with the 2008 version coming, its what separates the men from the boys.

ok... I tried some other stuff. Here is a quick recap. Dell 1520, Dual Boot (vista/xp), 8600gt, t7300, 2 gig ram. I tried un-install and reinstall. Didn't fix the weird (freeze up lag) during actual match play. Menu's are fine. Driver is 162.50 whql. I then disabled drive flash cache (sata drivers). Nada. I then downloaded the newest DX10. Installed. Nada. Turned off sound acceleration in dx10. Nada. The bottom line... EA time to fix your stuff. And if your not going to support laptops, no problem. I wont buy your product.

Forgot that I also played with Nvidia scaling... nada.
I went into Task Manager, Selected SET AFFINITY and selected both cpu's. This made the game so fast that I could not even play it... Don't even think "the flash" could win that game. (I never realized my laptop was so fast...) Best Wishes, SXO792

Maybe it's applicable to some of the directx 10 capable video cards, because my 7600GT in the desktop looks fantastic.

It really doesn't make sense because Madden & NHL look great on the 8600m GT. This is a huge mistake by EA. I get the feeling they just made minor adjustments to Fifa07 and created 08 without taking into account some major factors such as Vista and directx10 video cards.

I like SXO792's comments - I don't ever feel like buying another EA title again after this.

dude, i bet they will have to come up with some sort of patch, or nvidia will have to come up with better drivers(even tho, i don't think it's the drivers)...

As a PES player I really wanted to give FIFA a try so I could compare the quality of both games and make a decision about wich game I'm going to play this year! But if EA doens't come out with a patch for us before PES2008 is out, I have no choice but to choose PES!
It's kind of ironic... for the first time I decided to give FIFA a chance and EA doens't even let me give FIFA some credit...

I think that now we have our minds figured out about this issue and have tried many different things to make it work correctly, so we have nothing to do but wait!

Until then I just gotta find strategies to focus on my studies so I can apply them after the addiction begins!

Wich graphic/video card do you have? 8600M GT or GS?
When you say it "works fine" are you talking about the slow/stuttered gameplay?

I never used any drivers wich weren't released by my laptop's manufacturer (HP)... is it "safe" to use any other?
I visited laptopvideo2go many times but I never understood wich drivers to pick and what the whole scene was about! Completely ignorant!

I've got the same problem as u! It's very annoying to play the game in slow motion.. My notebook sure is powerful enough to play it, but I believe that it is the WideScreen on the notebook that is the cause of the problem.

    My setting is T7300 2.0 Ghz CPU, Nvidia 8600GT 512 MB, 4gb RAM. :)

Seriously... if they can't get FIFA of all games to perform like silk on a system like this, they are a bunch of fools down at EA.

I'm moving onto PES when it comes out and I'm never looking back to FIFA.

I had the same problem. The menus were lagging, and the game was barely playable. My configis is inn my sig. I turned to 163.69, and now it is the way it is supposed to be. I play on the maximum settings and h ighest resolution. I think it is the drivers, and you've got to find the best ones for you.

My best playable setting and screenshot ... with 8400M G, 1.5GB RAM, Vista 32Bit

Driver: 163.74 (Have tried with 156.66 & 163.69, but I think this is better)

    Resolution: 1280 * 720 *32

Level of Details: Medium (If set as High the scene will be slightly blur during replay and before kick off)

And the image setting in Nvidia Control Panel is set as Quality(Dislike to see jagged curved line :p), the rest are set as default.

I don't have FIFA, but it sounds like the same problem I have when playing POP: Sands Of Time. The Game runs like I'm using the slow motion ability permanently, and occasionally speeds up...

I've tried all possible driver updates, included 163.69 and up to 163.74, but everytime I try to install the drivers, I get the message that either my system is not supported (I have Vista Home Premium 64bit) I've tried it in international (Uk version) and the American version both in 64 bit, and 32..
Once I got the message that the update could'nt find any drivers that supported my hardware, or opposite..

Ps! I managed to install the driver with a modded inf file, but then my widescreen does'nt "support" my screensetting. I normally use 1280x1048 but now this becomes non-widescreen..

Anyone who has any ideas? share them with me! :D

    Thank you ;)

Can you guys feel it? It's the year of PES and the fall of FIFA! :D

I just upgraded to 163.74 and guess what, the game runs fine while connected to an external display, but on the laptop display - still very choppy. Fifa 07 with the career expansion pack, stadium, and kit add ons looks way better than Fifa 08. Goes to show how much EA actually put into this game this year.

You have to do it via the "Have Disk" method. I'm assumng that you have a notebook and 8600M GT or 8400M. If you don't know how to do it, post here, and I'll let you know how to do that.

Well, now that you have already done that, go to nVidia Control panel, and select "Use nVidia scaling". It will turn it back to the wide-screen and use the full screen now!

In the meanwhile, let me annhiliate the fecking Scousers once again, the Red ones! :D

BPL 07/08 title contenders my a$$.

I've tried all possible hotfixes and driver updates, included modded ini- files and that kind of stuff..I've used Nvidia Scaling, but FIFA still lags. But when I installed it on my sister's Laptop (she got WXGA 15.4" Screen) and FIFA runs smoothly. But on my WSXGA screen, it lags alot

Is it the screens that are the problem, when you can run FIFA smooth on WXGA screens, but not on WSXGA?

That's where I'm leaning towards but it's so strange because I never thought a display would be the real cause. My laptop can play it when connected to an external monitor but not on my laptops lcd panel.
