Back to XP SP2 with the 163.76 drivers - runs like butter. Like silk. Like a smooth ... insert whatever word you want here.![]()

I run xtremeG 94.32 drivers.

sorry I mean to say I run 91.47 not 94.32. No those are XP drivers. What you should do is get the old control panel to work or set via Rivatuner Frames to Render Ahead to 0 to reduce the mouse lag. Try that and see if it works.

With the 169.01 drivers this game is finally working for me!

Do 169.09 drivers solve the problem?

-
I see that the new version of drivers(169.28) have appeared, so, what's about it?

I bought a laptop in December and never did I think in the year 2008 I couldn't run FIFA 08. How could EA not have tested this? I'm not getting an Xbox 360 to play this and it's not coming out for the old Xbox.
-
understood, going to buy PES 2008.
-
My FiFA O8 runs good on 1280x720x32 with medium level of details, using drivers 167.49 and previously 169.04

I have just installed Fifa 2006 World Cup. And guess what? I have the same f*cking problem.
What does one have to do to play a nice soccer game?

I have the game working smoothly on an inspiron 1520 laptop with
8600GTm graphics card in windows vista.
Firstly install the latest 169.09 graphics drivers
Then go into Nvidia control panel and set the options to the following
Ansiotropic filtering off
antialiasing mode - off
antialiasing transparency - off
conformant texture clamp - off
Error reporting - off
extension limit - on
force mipmaps - none
texture filtering - ansiotropic sample optimisation - off
texture filtering - negative lod balance - off
texture filtering quality - high performance
triple buffering - on
force V sync - on
threaded optimisation - OFF
In game resolution 1024x768 (ensure Nvidia scaling is set to keep aspect ratio or it will look weird) - runs nicely in 4:3 with 13 inches of screen used.
The menus even run smooth. Problem solved! -
I have an 8600gt, I've used a ton of drivers with Fifa and its always runs in slow motion.
It seems to happen most when the bar gets near the goalie or the goalie is alone with the ball.
I think its just a problem with Fifa specific to this card. I've tried a bunch of drivers. Some work better than others. And the best ones for FIFA are not always the latest ones. e.g Some drivers make the menu run smoothly while some make the menu really laggy. But theres always slow down of some sort during gameplay with any of the drivers.
I have no idea how to fix this. -
i also have a 2090, you have to disable v-sync and triple buffering
i recommend using the 174.xx drivers\ http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=89 -
I have an 8400M GS
its givin me the same problem.
sometimes it works fantastic when i am connected to the internet or have one of my USB drives plugged in, and that too at the highest resolution! but MOST of the times, its HORRIBLY slow. also, the video graphics, before match starts and during replays, is not crisp, its pretty fuzzy. Can anybody help me with that?? -

The best drivers for fifa under vista are the 163.74 drivers.
Download these and menu's run well but game is still a bit jerky.
Ran it in 1024x768 high quality, 32 bit in FIFA system options.
However select the following options using Nvidia control panel
Ansiotropic filtering - Overide Application
Ansiotropic filtering - 16x
Antialiasing transparency - supersampling
Antialiasing override application
Antialiasing - not OFF, anything else. 2x works well.
V sync - ALWAYS OFF
Yes thats right, not only does it run very smoothly, almost up to desktop frame rates, apart from on replays/close ups, it now looks awesome, so crisp and sharp.
It seems the drivers are flawed. The performance improves as you turn the detail UP! Not just in fifa, in colin mcrae dirt, crysis, and GTR racing 2.
Not only that but can now run crysis with high detail textures, medium everything else, low shaders (doesn't look any worse but runs quicker) at 800x600 and it looks better than with the above options off (antialiasing/ansiotropic filtering) at 1200x800!
Its now a mega games system and can run anything I throw at it in sharp detail, a few jagged edges here and there but this is a laptop so have to comprimise a little! -
Has anyone with this problem tested the new Uefa Euro 2008 version yet?
Cheers -
Guys i think that Fifa is always a badly ported PS 2 game on the PC....ever since Fifa 2004 i have never managed to get stable or decnet FPS is Fifa even though i have always runned it on the top end graphics card of the day....lol after reading this post i tried out my old copy of Fifa 2005 on my 8800m GTS and even that sttureted on the menus and the gameplay wasn't fluid!!!! the most recent Fifa i tried was 2007 and many different drivers but still crap performance....
So i am suggesting to u guys to try out PES 2008 for PC this time..its a port of the xbox 360 version but runs suprisingly well on a 8600m...u get a solid 60 fps at 1280x1024 at Medium setting and it looks way better than Fifa at this settings...on high it drops to abt 30-35 fps....
now i aint a fanboy or anyhting i m only suggesting i have owned both series's every game from 1998-2007 when i got the last Fifa 2007 -
The new drivers

I have Fifa 2008 running like a dream. As smooth as a good desktop.
Several games ran poorly before this as well showing similar problems.
I installed new 178 drivers, then ran riva tuner 2.1
And not on medium. On high detail with 2x antialiasing and 4x ansiotropic filtering!
Increased clock speeds as follows
GPU to 550
Ram to 550
Shader to 1400 (disable increase together option as its this that makes the biggest difference.
That resulted in an increase from 9000 to 12800 in 3dmark 03 and its fixed all the stuttering caused by frame rate slow down.
I run fraps and its always at 60FPS all the time even at the goal end. Before it dipped to 58 and it was then when it went sluggish trying to maintain 60FPS by skipping frames.
Need for speed carbon used to be unplayable, it now runs on FULL detail at 1024x768.
Runs stable, I use l8fangui to ensure fan is at full speed when playing games. The max GPU hits is 58 degrees which is not bad and matched by CPU. Usually gets to almost that normally.
At last my dell 1520 is a serious gaming machine. That small increase in benchmarks translates to a huge improvement in games. -
max temp reaches 58? I'm higher than 58 at idle.
And why are people still playing fifa? PES is much better and at least it runs smoothly on an 8600m GT.
