Do you mean that there are drivers exclusively for GTA IV?
I will download the new patches offcourse![]()
I know that GTA IV without the patches sucks
-
u already have the perfect GPU , it have nothing to do with the drivers -
Anyone got a suggestion for a driver that works with GTA 4? I need something that is not 180.84 and my 169.04 keeps crashing.

Or it is only for GTA IV? -

Has anyone tried GTA IV on the NP8660?

With Vista I'm not sure your RAM is going to be enough. -
-
the game seems to be horribly slow for me, dont really know what happened, i formatted my harddisk and reinstalled the thing and done the same patching and stuff but its just plain slow.
go back a couple pages u see i got 38 fps now i hardly get 20
dox drivers ARE installed.
patches from mangus instaleled too.

I'm really considering buying this game from steam, but I'm worried about the system requirements.
With the specs in my sig, what fps, and at what resolutions can I expect? Also, how are the keyboard+mouse controls, or should I invest in a 360 controller?
Thank you! -
Heres my benchmark from the game:

Well don´t rely too much on the benchmark test it doesn´t reflect how the game actually runs during heavy rain and night for example.
However tweaked the game runs near 30 fps most of the time. But with that benchmark, I mean for example for my desktop I have 50 fps average but the game doesn´t run at 50 fps average throughout the game.
On my notebook it runs at 1920x1200 at an average of 32.44 fps and with tweaking that I have done I have even 25-30+ fps during rain too at that res, actually more towards 30 fps. -
SemiGamer try this tweak and see how the game runs
http://www.wikiupload.com/download_page.php?id=106170
Now you can set the ViewDistance to the lowest, 1 that is but still keep the viewdistance through a tweak. Try it out and let me know how it runs. Back everything up first of course. -

Weird, after the new patch, It says my files are modified and I can't connect online anymore.
-
You're not allowed modified files/mods online anymore apparently that's why
-
I don't understand. The game-makers are disallowing mods??
-
I don't have any mods in the game...
-
if there's one problem I've experienced with my 7805u and GTA4 is that playing in some online matches with afternoon/rainy weather i get the worse FPS you can imagine...
-
hows the performance boost with the new patch? Noticeable?
-
I don't really see much difference since i use the same settings..
btw, nice ms3 icon -
I'm getting 18-25 via FRAPS on pretty much low settings with my G1S right now with no patches installed yet, and thats with 2.0ghz CPU, 256 8600gt, 4gb ram. My M17 should ship soon, specs below. What can I expect with Medium-High settings -

Also, online multiplayer matches are better as well (perhaps from the physics optimization they did). -
Good thing they have an option to turn off the shadows. They look awful, I don't think I have seen so much dithering in my life! -
Anybody have any mirrors to the download of the new patch not involved in anything having to do with games haha, so I can actually download it here at work where my intenret is faster than 2.0kb/s?
Also do I need to install 1.01 and 1.02 first? -
Where's mangus when you want his files for the new patch?
-
Patch 1.0.3 helped me quite a bit, it fixed the vlad mission problem in 1.0.2...
Also I noticed a decent FPS increase...
Im enjoying the game on my laptop @
1920x1200
Textures Medium
Reflections High
Shadows Medium
Water High
Distance Slider 5
Object Slider 8
Vehicle Slider 80
Shadow Slider on 3
I'm getting 20-35 FPS.
Recently I put everything to High and Shadow Slider on 1, and it seems playable ranging from 19-32 FPS, but I'm not gonna make any claims yet since I haven't got in any huge chases or chaos yet with those settings. -
-
God Luck -
Patch 1.01 is not required for Patch 1.02. You can straightaway install 1.02 and then 1.03.

Cheers!

I have read this in GTAforums.
"It is important to remember that you do not have to install each individual patch, you only need to install the latest. So if you do a fresh install of GTA 4 you DO NOT need to install patch 1.0.1.0 and then patch 1.0.2.0. You just need to install patch 1.0.3.0. You should also remember that you will not be able to play online unless you have the latest patch installed."
This is the link to the thread http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=397064
I also want to patch but don't know what to do.
Thanks -
I always instal v1, v2 and then v3 not on only GTA IV but other games too example NFS Carbon or COD... I'm not sure s.almajid, but I do it this way... I think Rockstar dosn't include v1 files on v3 but maybe they change same files then problem is gone...
But as I said if I'm going to install again I start from v1 and install each individually... -
I installed 1.0.3 on 1.0 version, no problems, don't worry go ahead with the 1.0.3
-
I look forward to trying this on a 2.0 Ghz Q9000 Quad, 1680 x 1050 res, 3GB RAM (XP SP3) and a GTX260M. I hope I at least get a decent frame rate.
-
overclock your q9000....my qx9300 at 3.2ghz still sucks in this game.....hmm im missing my desktop q9450 at 4ghz now....
-
You serious?? What frames do you get? Resolution?
-
-
When you say it still sucks in game, what frame rate are we talking here?
I wonder if it is the GPU drivers that are making a small difference in your case or maybe the settings are different. -
idk what it was...the m17/ocz whitebook have power issues with high clocked quads....but i was getting 30-40 frames....everything maxed with distances at 40 and shadows at low-medium.....i cant remember exactly...but im the type of person who needs 60 fps to enjoy a game so maybe i should just shut up lol....plus we all know crossfire stutters when near 30 frames
-
Is it ever possible to play this game on asus g50 WITHOUT getting frames below 30?
in some areas, and whilst driving fast, the game hits a minimum of 20-25 fps here its super annyoing. -

anyone getting any problems with the 1.0.3 patch? ever since i installed it i get problems in a police chase. like if someone calls me or i open the cell phone it will get stuck like that, and if i get out of the car and go on foot it's still there and will only go away for a few seconds when shot or falling off a ledge. it's even stayed on after dieing(sp?).

No problems with 1.0.3.0. The game runs smooth as silk at very enjoyable settings. The memory leak is still evident, though not as frequently anymore. My game crashes after 90 minutes or two hours, depending on what I do in the game. This is a generous amount of time for me and I have no problems with it, however I would still motion for Rockstar to address the memory leak.
I have heard that the 185.xx drivers are pretty good performance wise and I might switch over to them after it goes WHQL. But for now I'll stick with my 182.50.
Try comparing to my test run and see if it helps out, ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=369156). -
I have some problems with last update of GFW. After I have updated, game freeze at start-up and in game.... I went down from about 29-30 fps to 15-0 fps...
Game freeze and fps go down to 0 then it start again and it went up to about 15 but not stable ??? I don't want to play it any more, not play-able... Some else have this problem? I have talket with some friends and they have the same problem too. Any way(s) to solve it ? -
If a title in its RTM form is unplayable no amount of patching can correct it. There is something fundamentally wrong in the porting of this messy game.

tuηay, you do not need GFWL or RSC to play GTA IV. Uninstall those two and life will be a lot easier.
