Love maxing this game out on my GTX 980.

Does anyone have issues launching the game? I read somewhere you have to disable nvidia graphics then re-enable.
-
I'll have to check 7970m temps are way too high and noticed in metro 2033 it also hit 100c.
The 680m is on 1080 whilst 7970m is on 1920x1200 so it's working harder.
At 1080 on 680m everything max about 2500mb of 4000 vram.
EDIT: Best visual quality I have settled on everything max with msaa at x2 and txxa on and FXAA off. The visual quality is now impressive.Last edited: Apr 16, 2015 -
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
Do I get it right that GTA V will run well on Intel HD4600 @ lowest settings?

In case anyone is interested, these are cpu-tests with various clock speeds, cores and threads:

Don´t know personally. This is gameplay with 6 50m and 960m:

Looks pretty nice. I suppose 860m will have similar performance? -
Any tips to get this running on a rubbishy laptop? I'm buying a new laptop next month with the main intention being to play this game, but for the time being i am stuck with my Acer Aspire V3. The spec is a 3.3GHz Intel i7-3610QM with Nvidia GeForce GT 640M 2GB graphics, 8GB RAM and Samsung 840 EVO SSD. Overall it's decent but the graphics card is very weak, i have turned all the settings down to 'Normal' but it's a bit choppy and looks rather ugly without any anti-aliasing.
Please could i have some suggestions as to what i can do to increase my framerate and somehow make the game more attractive? -
Unfortunately I think you're below min spec, so there's little we can do.

There is some hope.
This guy plays it on a GT 630M (you can expect a slight increase), and a crappy Pentium (vs your decent i7 QC). So actually it shouldn't be too bad for you

Playing with a 680M. Only a handful of graphics options are available. Game looks rubbish. What gives? Why so few graphics options?
-
That sounds like you have integrated graphics and it is defaulting to that instead of your 680M. Ive tested it on my 680M and it played from 40-60 fps with high and very high settings at 1920 x 1080.

I fixed it lol. I simply hadn't figured out how I scroll down haha!
I have everything on max settings except shadows no AA and it runs great at 940/1075mhz
Unfortunately I haven't enough ram to push settings higherTBoneSan likes this. -
Is that on your 680m? Not bad for an old fart.
-
Then again he didn't mention frame rates. But in all seriousness the 680m's are a force to be recond with.
-
A single 680M right now I wouldn't say that. Even my 780M SLI I would say are showing their age. Either that or my PC is somehow screwed with Dying Light and GTA 5 specifically.
-
I'll be playing this game for a while. Spent 3.5hrs on it last night did only one mission. Rest of time driving around causing chaos-robbing, stealing, running from the cops and lots of time in the strip clubs this game was worth the wait-runs smooth everything maxed. 980ms sweet

680M wouldn't be that far behind the 780M if it wasn't for the gimped low voltage vram. Clock up the 680M core and it packs some power. Unfortunately it can't utilize it properly as the vram doesn't go much beyond 1100mhz stable on most cards without mods.
-
Anyone running on an i7 4700 MQ / 750m SLI setup? Just curious what your settings are....
-
Did you try robbing any stores yet? I went in to a store to buy a bag of crisps but then realised (a friendly notification mentioned this ability) you could rob the shopkeeper out of everything in the till.......
The GTX 680m with the latest GTA V ready Nvidia Driver can play GTA V with a mixture of high and very high settings at 40 -52 fps 1920 x 1080, more if you set to high. Dying Light is just unoptimised.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 16, 2015 -
Cant wait to see how this performs on my 980M I am getting tomorrow, its nice seeing they optimized this game so well, I plays really good on my GTX 780 on my desktop. I wonder if I can push this laptop more than my desktop since it has 4GB of VRAM vs the 3GB on my desktop.
-
Everything on medium, 720p, the npc sliders at max never below 40. Specs in my signature. Now I'm trying to mix it up and get better settings without fps drop.
-
Reporting the same here with the 7970M. This game runs extremely well on my hardware and without issue. I'd highly recommend the latest AMD beta catalyst package that was released for GTA V, as it did reduce some minor stuttering I had prior to its installation.
Even with textures set to very high (reporting my VRAM is now at 2.4GB/2GB in the display menu of the game) and forcing the game to allow me to exceed my maximum VRAM, I haven't experienced any stability issues whatsoever. -
What about 1080p?

Nice. Anyway you can link your in game settings?
nvm found em!
So I went ahead and got the game (GMG has it for like $45) and I have to say, it helped me boost my confidence in my 680m. After Dead Rising 3, FC3, and AC Unity - I felt like I was really ready to give up on PC gaming for a while. Its pretty amazing how well this game plays on my setupLast edited: Apr 16, 2015 -
I didn't have any problems with Far Cry 3 on the GTX 680M.

+1
Have found the 680m a beastly card. Impressed with its performance on latest titles.
Anyone else noticed if you hit ~ key it says insert cheat codes? -

Good catch - I meant 4. 4 played like crap, by the time they patched it enough to make it play better, I completely lost interest in it. -
I can't get the benchmark to work. It keeps saying "Mission Failed"
-
The benchmark won't work correctly until after you have completed the first mission.Mr Najsman likes this. -

Far Cry 4 seems to be quite CPU intensive, it stutters unless I enable Turbo but it is still playable either way on my itx. The last time I tried it on my 680M, it was unplayable but I think it has problems unrelated to the power of the GPU. Even when the fps read as a reasonable rate, the gameplay did not match. Some time ago a youtuber said it had a problem with sharing the workload on the CPU and he had to manually adjust affinity to get rid of stutter. Some of the more powerful GPU's simply make up for the unoptimised messes but the 680M is definately a beast!

After DoA I have no imagination.
Really all that's needed is a little shadow. Look at Lara Croft in TR2013. Is it really that hard, oh GTA V modelers? -

Haha - have you seen Skyrim TBBP? I tell you, Skyrim modders are addicted to huge, bouncy boobs.killkenny1 likes this. -
Oh I get it now...disabling ambient occlusion for performance reasons had some, er, unintended side effects.
Or maybe it's as D2 Ultima says and GTA V characters just suck. Seems plausible since I see crappy plastic-looking models (need some SSS breh) with poor self-shadowing even at max settings.
@D2 Ultima shades of Sleeping Dogs?
Hahaha oh that's messed up
Now that's more like it ♫ Yeah, it's a party in the USA ♫

I was about to say the same. Maybe our man octiceps got spoiled by all those fancy TES NSFW mods
.
-
Nah dude, I get spoiled by the real thing
-
My laptop is almost a spitting image, 745m instead of 750m. Unfortunately 1080p with all settings normal just isn't pretty. the fps bounces between 20-30fps, with plenty of low drops. It also put enough strain on the cpu that the plane to car transition of the benchmark failed miserably with missing textures everywhere because the laptop was not able to process the detailed textures in time. I did not try and resolutions inbetween, only testing out 720p for the moment. It can do 720p real nice with some of the options turned up one notch and draw distance drawn out. So you'll get a "better than PS3 experience" at least.

Lucky you - I've never seen them in reality.
