Good to hear it doesn't have a ton of issues, I'll pick it up on the 1st.

Here's my quick romp with GTA V on 970m. Sorry for bad driving. Hard to do with keyboard/mouse. Might actually have to plug in gamepad for this one.

There are moments when Dark Souls just makes you want to implode and destroy the universe though. I have been there. -
I see you choose to overlay CPU 1, 3, 5 & 7, any reason for that?
Is it possible to have a gamepad connected for driving and use KB+M on foot, anyone tried? -

Someone wants to know how it runs on low end system?
Just...ehm... send me a copy of the game and I'll gladly test it for you all.

I will try it on my OC'ed 750m as soon as... yarrr. If it runs well enough then run some tests on different settings.

Will try it out on my 680M, 920Xm combo soon. Perhaps even tonight
Wow scratch that I won't. 7000 yen (40 pounds) price tag is waaay too steep for me. I will wait a bit.....Last edited: Apr 14, 2015Starlight5 likes this. -

Runs great on my desktop, only experienced 1 crash so far and that was 2 hours into the game. The following 3 hours didn't have any problems.
I think you can use both keyboard/mouse & gamepad. I'm mainly using my XB1 controller and every now and then my knee bumps the desk which jiggles the mouse and it thinks I've switched over to keyboard/mouse controls and then back to gamepad when I move the sticks.
I can try my laptop, but I don't think my processor meets the minimum system requirements.
Never played on last gen or current gen systems so this is my 1st play through of the game. Haven't done a lot of criminal activities yet, but have played a bunch of tennis and gone to the strip clubs. I now understand how to play tennis... and why you keep hands of the ladies.Starlight5 likes this. -

Any_Key, could you please try it on your laptop, with minimal resolution and settings?

@Starlight5 Sure, I can give it a try. Will see if A.) It will actually install/run and B.) How it runs.

How is the load on the CPU? That is what I am currently concerned about. I will see if I can get the game somehow haha.

I'm kind of curious if my i7 2630QM will be an issue.

Did anyone try it with the 7970m crossfire yet?

You won't have any problems with the GTX 680M or the i7 2630QM. You will need to lower the population and variety sliders down a bit but you will still get really good frame rates. I will be testing out my P170Hm that has the GTX 680M and an i7 2860qm 2.50 Ghz. Ive just installed the Nvidia Ready Driver, you can get the modded .inf from the link in my sig if you need to.
Edit:
I just tested the benchmark and had the population and variety sliders at maximum, AF 16x, high resolution shadows, long shadows disabled and everything else on high and very high. I was getting from 40-52fps with no stuttering, no slow downs and it was perfectly smooth. Although it looked crisp and lovely, it still did not look anywhere near as good as it did on my 980 but that was to be expected. It played better than GTA IV and looked better. This is a real PC game and as they mentioned, was made for the PC from the start, it shows. Lower end systems will not have a problem. I tested at 1920 x 1080 with DX11 and you could surely set everything to high instead of a mixture of very high and get even more frames.
Of course I didn't test while heavy action was occuring or flight so I would expect a lower frame at that but CPU usage was around 65-70%, the game makes a lot of use of the GPU as it should.Last edited: Apr 14, 2015 -

Is there a non steam/cheaper legal version??
Really wanna play this!!
Let us know the settings you use for the 680m and clockspeed. I am thinking a modest 900mhz/1100mbz oc at stock voltage should be good and stable. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.

I played at default clock speed in Windows 7 X64 with the latest GTA V ready Driver (makes a huge difference). The exact settings were DX11, 1920 x 1080, FXAA, MSAA and Vsync = Disabled.
Population Variety, Density and Distance scaling had the sliders set to max.
Texture / Shader Quality = Very High
Shadow Quality = High
Reflection Quality = Very High
Reflection MSAA = off
Water Quality = High
Particles Quality = Very high
Grass Quality = High
Soft Shadows = Softer
Post FX = Very High
IGDOF = On
AF = X16
AO = High
Tesselation = High
Note that the benchmark will not work correctly or show fps until after you have completed the intro and saved your game before running it. GPU temps remained around 80C and CPU reached 70C with 64-71% usage on all cores
In the benchmark I mostly get 44-55fps. In game it is mostly 45 fps but some areas reach 55 fps. As I said in my previous edited post, I think you could just set everything to High and have a better frame rate and it would still look great. I'm impressed with that GTX 680M, it is still holding its own after all of this time!Last edited: Apr 14, 2015 -
the fps still drops while going through intersections.
-
So got my replacement unit today
tested with every very high and ultra
FXAA on
MSAA 4x
getting steady 60-85 fps
cpu temp between 68-75
definitely there is difference between my first unit, really happy with this one -

Runs on my 840m with i7-4510u. But my screen is busted and my TV has overscan problems so can't get a good measure of FPS, etc. Will get it hooked up to a better monitor and check back. Strange thing is I can get it to run on my 650m (which is basically the 840m) with an i7-3610QM for about 10 seconds before it goes to black screen and hangs then crashes. And FPS is up there about 45-60FPS with settings at "Normal" and 1366x768.

How is the game running frames wise on a 660m and a 960m ??

I don't know if this was already discussed, but I had this problem. If anyone is crashing during the first mission with Franklin and Lamarr (repo cars) during single player mode turn off internet connection. Once I tried playing in offline mode no more crashing.

I noticed that the view distance looked kind of blurry so was trying to figure out what setting could get rid of it. After disabling In Game Depth Of Field it looks much better now.
-
I tried and it did not crash with my first mission, Connection was on, Did record video with fraps for 4 minutes but its 23GB took forever to upload, guess i would need to give up in uploading video -
I see a lot of question here and I figured I'll throw in my experiences. I'm currently running on a Clevo P150EM with the Prema BIOS mod. I have an i7-3840QM with a 200MHz overclock to the turbo clock. I also have a GTX 680M with the stock voltage svl7 vBIOS mod and am overclocking the core clock to 800MHz (only an 80MHz increase from stock, 42MHz from the stock vBIOS mod). I am running the latest driver, 350.12. I also have 16GB of RAM.
I do have the issue with launching the game (bought from the R* warehouse, not steam) where I have to disable my 680M in the Device Manager then re-enable. I made a video to demonstrate the process for anyone else suffering from this issue:
Now I've been trying to optimize the game for streaming to Twitch using OBS and spent roughly 3 hours tweaking to get the best framerates. So far I haven't tested this in the wilderness yet or while flying but it seems fairly well including near water and viewing out my high end apartment night or day. Basically I get 55-60fps on average in Windowed Borderless mode (1920x1080) and around 40fps when recording through OBS at 720p60fps with lanczos sampling. With nothing but GTA running, I see anywhere from 6-7GB of RAM usage and 3GB of vRAM usage. Temps are low at 70*C average and anywhere from 90-99% GPU usage depending on where I am in game. CPU temps are in the mid 60's and I see anywhere from 30-50% CPU usage on all 8 logical processors simultaneously. It is worth noting I play with max fans since I use headphones.
Below are the settings I currently use. The max settings for almost every category is Very High for reference.
Settings (alphabetical order):
Ambient Occlusion: High
Antisotropic Filtering: x16
DirextX: DirectX 11
Display Mode: Windowed Borderless (fullscreen works too, I just prefer this for alt tabbing)
Distance Scaling: 100%
Extended Distance Scaling: 0% (this is what GeForce experience recommends. With it at max, there was no fps difference till looking out my apartment, then it was a 15fps hit, turning it off left no visible quality difference)
Extended Shadows Distance: 0%
FXAA: On
Grass Quality: Very High
High Detail Streaming While Flying: On
High Resolution Shadows: Off
Ignore Suggested Limits: On
In-game Depth of Field Effects: Off (I don't recall seeing this option in game, but it was listed in the Geforce Experience software when making this list)
Long Shadows: On
MSAA: Off (the difference between this at 2x and off is about 20% GPU utilization and a lot of frames. There is no visible difference between the two so definitely leave off)
Nvidia TXAA: Off
Particles Quality: High (can probably set to Very High)
Population Density: 100%
Population Variety: 100%
Post FX: Normal (I recommend normal over Geforce experience's High. Normal removes blurring on what would be "out of focus" or peripheral and I think it is a huge quality boost in just being to see around corners, fps difference isn't as big)
Reflection MSAA: Off
Reflection Quality: Very High
Resolution: 1920x1080
Shader Quality: Very High
Shadow Quality: Very High
Soft Shadows: Softest
Tesselation: High
Texture Quality: Very High
Water Quality: High
Overall, this game is very well optimized and looks fantastic!
Update: VSync Off I actually get as high as 80fps in my apartment, 50-55 looking out the window into all of Los Santos. Didn't realize that In-game Depth of Field Effects is part of Post FX but requires Post FX to be Very High to enable. Don't do that. Very High is a 20fps drop looking out my apartment window compared to High. Normal and High like I said before however don't seem too different.Last edited: Apr 14, 2015Mr Najsman and D2 Ultima like this. -
it would be much, much easier if people just disable the intel GPU. i have been running my laptop solely on its 780M alone and the game plays fine.

So people can't disable it in the bios?

No, there are maybe 5 types of notebook where you can do this... the rest of 123456789 other types suffers with Optimus or Enduro
