Notwithstanding the unexpected abortion called Batman: Arkham Knight, I agree in concept with the statement. The previous releases did not have these serious problems and I think most of us were surprised by it based on a good record in the Batman franchise. I haven't had issues with other UE3 games either. Bioshock Infinite, Max Payne 3, Spec Ops: The Line, and many others were great. Thankfully, I paid less than $25 for it and have it working well enough to get $25 worth of fun from it with one GPU. If they fix it that will be icing on the cake.
But, with respect to CPU and GPU performance, BIGGER and FASTER is awesome as long as it works properly. The intelligence of early adoption has never been as questionable as it is today, and "experimental" is an appropriate way to describe the plethora of new products that are being sold without diligent pre-launch R&D or adequate QC. We are surround by that sort of incompetence in the tech world more than ever before. When a brand new GPU has never worked correctly from the day it was installed, that may certainly be an indicator of flawed or defective hardware, improper handling or assembly.
However, this cannot be painted with a broad brush. At what point does something cease to be an "experimental" product that one should expect to work correctly? Only when it reaches EOL status? It is abundantly clear NVIDIA has been changing things in their drivers that causes undesirable behavioral issues and malfunction with fairly new GPU hardware that already has an established track record of excellent performance. When misbehavior is incidental to driver version and using a different driver version restores functionality, I think it is logical to conclude the defect exists in the driver.
When brand new cutting edge hardware exhibits essentially identical misbehavior using the same drivers as mature hardware, asking for specs and other hardware details is a silly stall tactic. NVIDIA Graphics Engineers know what they changed in the drivers. Identifying the change and associating it with a cause should not take multiple months to resolve.
At least Rocksteady Studios and Warner Brothers had the intestinal fortitude to swiftly admit they released a flawed product and pull it from store shelves and servers until they can figure out how to fix it. Hopefully, they learned a lesson and won't be repeating the same mistakes in the future, but I have to give them credit for not making a bunch of lame excuses and asking thousands of customers to submit their specs along with a description of the problem and waiting months before they admitted their product was flawed.
When was the last time NVIDIA pulled buggered drivers to stop unsuspecting victims from downloading them? Have they ever done that? To be completely fair, I don't remember ever seeing an example of AMD doing that either, and they have a long history of producing garbage drivers.
