And to think, I bought almost ALL of the games mentioned when they came out, and now there $5, $10 bucks.

yeah, at 7.50, Gta4 literally dropped an order of magnitude in price.

Im currently in Canada but I usually live in Japan.

If I buy a game that is out of my region (in Japan) can I still download it and play it if I buy it here in Canada?

Just a quick question. Can you buy the games and then choose to download them later? I am thinking that I will need to make some space on my laptop's hard drive first.

You can - when you buy the game it will appear in your Steam games list; you can then download it anytime.

These are some very tempting deals . . . it's a shame I bought most of the games I wanted this year (Borderlands, L4D2, Shattered Horizon).

when you buy a game on steam, that game is tied to your steam account (forever).

you can download steam on as many computers as you like, and reinstall the game, through your account, on as many computers as you like.

only one computer can be logged into your steam account at any given time.

borderlands isn't cheap enough for me at $33... i need like $10.

also kinda disappointed the BF2 complete collection didn't make the sale. that would be an insta-pickup at less than $5 for a ton of people.

Just so you guys know, people in the right region can gift a game to basically anyone, it just has to be bought from within the US. If you have a friend that is willing to help you out, he can gift you the game and you can repay him. Then it doesn't matter where you are, you can download the game anytime since it's tied to your account.

LOL i dont play with my laptop, i got a dual core 2.5ghz and ati 4850 and 4gb ddr2 800 20"monitor desktop at home, i just work on this laptop. This laptop is just for work and casual gaming

 

w00t, GTA IV! Now I will sell my hard copy to my friend for $10 and we both can be happy.

 

KOTOR ... wanted to get that one, last time I tried my disk version it would not run for me properly on Vista x64 so now that I use Win 7 x64 I have no more hope.

If anybody has it and the steam version is working for you let me know.

edit: maybe it is easier to have your friend give you $10 than $7.50... but shouldn't you direct him to this steam sale?

 

yup honestly cant work on a gaming laptop, lol if there was an MW2 icon sitting on my dock oh man, and 15" is not portable for me. might jump on games like build a lot and braid, hmm mulling it over

Chaos Theory is my favorite out of the series. For 5 bucks it is worth it!

ahh someone recommend me a game!!! i was hoping for good deal on the orange box.. i bought stalker for 2$!!!
And i already own tf2, but is half life 2 worth it? does half life 2 have its own multiplayer??? Does it have mods that are open world?

 

i was trying to download and got a message saying steam is too busy to handle your requests please try again later and now mine's stuck on download starting...

HL2 is canonically singleplayer, but HL2 M is the deathmatch component. Like the original HL, the story is great and the multiplayer is just in there to prove the netcode works. If you're looking for stunning HL2 mods, unfortunately there is less than for HL, and the nature of the engine means "open worlds" aren't likely. The closest you might get is Gmod (sandbox mod), which isn't free.

To anyone who got STALKER: ClearSky, is it worth it? I've already played the original and am waiting for CoP, but for $5, I wouldn't mind checking out ClearSky if it's only half as bad as it seemed on release.

Also, is it just me, or is hard to find out exactly everything that's on sale? Every few hours I'll notice a game I hadn't seen before. The "specials" tab used to be the first thing I'd go to, but with the new site it's missing/changed. Anyone bought some tucked away specials not obvious on the main page? (i.e. picked up SpaceQuest series for $5)

 

just picked up empire total war for 25$ and CS is worth it for 5$. But unlike SoC, your not alone in CS.

Was always intrigued by Stalker but also worried about the reports of lots of bugs. For $2 I can't complain... sold!

I also got Audiosurf, and a few other titles I've been meaning to buy but never got around to.

Just picked up GTA4....I have a feeling these Steam deals are going to get deadlier and deadlier for my Credit Card!

I've just set everything to download in a massive lump. Probably best to snag it while you can as I won't be playing it tonight - unless other people can comment?

 

will changing your download location in steam - for example to a less popular location speed up d/l's?

Not sure of whether to pick up Far Cry/Mirror's Edge or whether to hold off; have the daily discounts been this good historically?.

 

well, i got the gta iv for 7.49, but been trying to download it

15GB from steam.... had been a steady 1000 kb/s for an hour or so (needs at least 3 hours) but have been dropping out to 500kb/s for the past hour... probably because of the traffic... going to backup the 15GBs so i don't have to waste 5hours to download again...

now it seems it's stuck at 63%


maybe I should go back to school to download it... the media lab has L4D2 on steam for us to play... downloading there was 6mb/s... pretty quick for L4D2(>3gb?)

I'm stuck on this decision too. I don't really care for UT3, but the engine is phenomenal and I've well enjoyed the original and 2k4 at LANs in the past... decisions decisions

Mirror's Edge is a unquestionably worth it at $5. I have Far Cry, but only for historic reasons. Deals are common on Steam, though you can't rely on specific games being discounted - it's usually random.

Try it, though it will be a trade off. I'm in Toronto but usually select the NY servers because they are faster, but today it surely doesn't seem so!

Oops, this is embarrassing. Due to high demand we have temporarily run out of unique keys for this title. You may, by all means, purchase at the awesome sale price but may not be able to play until we receive more unique product keys. It shouldn't take too long, we have sent armed guards to the publisher's house to get them out of bed, drive them to their secret lair and produce more keys.

 

The Unreal package seems interesting. Is the single player good in that series? Not much of a multiplayer type guy (unless its local).

So I splurged on Mirrors Edge and STALKER. I will wait on the other games later on in the week to see if there are other great one day deals.

 

I bought ~14 games for a total of 50$...I'm happy with steam today =P

 

Hopefully i'll have GTA4 downloaded by 2010....the download speed is ridiculously slow; 6+hrs and only 7% downloaded....grrr

 

This is what I think...

Steam and D2D are really giving Console games a run for their money. These two sites with their weekly deals and their holiday sales have cut my gaming costs in half!

You just can't do that on consoles...

God i have a real dilemma here. I onyl have 16GB left for games in my drive. Is GTA REALLY 16gb?! Thanks guys
