NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Thanks a lot you two I appreciate the answers.
Too bad i already have STALKER (Paid 5 and thought that was a deal) I was gonna get the new Prince of Persia but to me it is not cheap right now.
Hate to say it, but the timer is down to 8 hours and i just might wait to see what they have when the time comes. GTA4 sure looks good though -
GTA:IV is listed as 15,500mb in my download size portion of steam (it was one of the games I Dl'd)
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
I dont know, im thinking of getting an SSD soon. So maybe I will buy it and just leave it uninstalled until i get my SSD.
The problem though is I also have it for 360, lol. That just complicates things further -

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i'll be playing GTA in 5 minutes... after having it download all day yesterday and last night.
giant 16GB download. insane. -
New deals:
Need for Speed: Shift at $37.49
L4D 2 at $33.49
Serious Sam at $9.99
Football Manager 2010 at $29.99
ID Super Pack at $23.79
Kind of weak compared to the last set of deals I think. I like the ID pack deal the most but I am only interested in Doom 3... -
Senor Mortgage Notebook Evangelist
Wow. That ID pack is one sexy, sexy deal. I've been wanting to play return to Castle Wolfenstien for years (lost the game) but it was never listed as a separate download.
-
I'll take Serious Sam HD for $10
-
On a related note, I cannot believe what a different game Mirror's Edge is on the PC in comparison to the PS3. There's talk about 'the flow' in the game, but the PC version is so much better to control - even just by the presence of the mouse - and you can truly string moves together without ridiculous controller-swinging.
I swore my way through the PS3 title, but I'm really enjoying replaying it on the PC.
I can absolutely understand why game makers don't let console and PC players game together for the same titles - it's such a crappier gaming experience on the consoles, although you might get a more consistent visual experience if you can't afford a decent PC. -
Crud I missed GTA... But they have FC2+DLC and world in conflict for $9.99
-
got the l4d2 4 pack for $100.49
-
-
Major bummer I missed out on GTA IV and Stalker. Guess I need to watch for these deals more often
-
Do people still play world in conflict online?
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I got GTA IV, great deal.
-
I got star wars republic commando for 4.99 man I missed the game lol
-
I fear I went on a bit of a bender. I won't be gaming in the next couple of days - but I know for sure that they'll be downloading in the meantime
-
So, I've never bought a game directly through Steam (I've got a few registered, though). So please, bear with me and my noob-like questions:
1. I'm looking to upgrade my current 80 GB HD to a 320 and installing W7 in the next month or so. I can purchase the games now and just not install them until I get the new drive, correct (this is implied by a previous post, I'm just making sure)?
2. I currently have Steam installed on an external HD due to space constraints, but will I be able to install Steam on the new internal drive and re-download all games onto the new drive, or will I first have to delete all local content on the external and uninstall Steam before installing on the new drive?
I'm looking at getting the id package and SW Republic Commando, all for less than $30. Sounds like a great deal to me as I've only played Doom 2 and I'm definitely a SW fan. Are there any other games I should be looking at getting (I'm up for anything at this point, especially SW and RTS-genre games)? -
1) Certainly. Once a game is tied to your Steam account, you can download it whenever and wherever you wish.
2) That will be just fine. No need for deactivating or uninstalling; Steam detects whether or not games are installed.
If you don't have the Orange Box yet, DO IT. $30 will get you Half-Life 2, both episodes so far, Team Fortress 2 (amazingly fun multiplayer) and Portal. Also, the Unreal Deal pack, which gets you Unreal Gold, Unreal II: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament, UT2004, and UT3, for $30. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hm, anyone else think its a bit funny that somehow MW2 is number 3 in sales yet its not even on sale.
-
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hm,.....EXCELLENT point. You are probably right about the registered keys.
Im thinking about Serious sam that was a pretty awesome series. It was like Left 4 Dead before Left 4 dead, lol -
Just got Star Wars Republic Commando, Jedi Star Fighter, and Day of Defeat Source!
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
WOW....i just noticed Crysis is not on sale. None of the games......and here i was thinking it would have been a Christmas buy for me. Unless something is on the way for the count down timer games?

I already have HL2 GotY Edition (HL2, HL Source, CS Source; still haven't had finished any of them) and Portal (amazing game; bought separately back when it alone was 50% off), so are the episodes and TF2 worth the $22.49 (it's on sale)? I have NEVER played multiplayer for any game, but might try it if I can get my hand-eye coordination back to what it was before I delved into RTS and RPG games. Ditto for the Unreal series. Actually, I haven't played any of the Call of Duty games since CoD 2, either. For the past ~3 yrs, I've been almost purely in RTS and RPG games, save for SW Battlefront (and its sequel).
Does anyone recommend the World in Conflict series? I tried the demo and was rather put off by how different the gameplay was compared to Supreme Commander and the Command and Conquer games (both of which I've loved and still play). Any games similar in style to these, or are those pretty much the major players (I also have SW Empire at War and Sins of a Solar Empire)? The Civilization IV series has been recommended to me which I've heard is good (decent reviews as well) but have never tried. From the gameplay videos, it appears to not have any of the unit-unit battles that I've come to love. I presume I may not like the turn-based strategy genre, then? -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
Got star wars republic commando and battlefront 2 (finally went on sale, $20 was to expensive for it).
-
Some great sales right now, debating if I should get Resident Evil 5 or not.... But Red Faction Guerrilla for 10 bucks seems like a good deal.

Woo..
Battlefield 2: Complete Collection - $7.49
Purchased! -
Tempted on picking up BF2 Complete. Just bought Rome Total War, Medieval Total War, and reinstalled BF2142. Surprisingly all 3 runs on my Acer netbook... -
steam is getting hammered, it took a minute for the purchase to go through. -
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
wait- seriously BF2 complete for $7... steam is gonna get all my monies. it's like they listened to my forum post.
page 6.
insta-buy.
problem is, with deals like this, i might never pay full price for a game again.
definitely shifting my purchase tolerance down. -
I've never even seen a demo of BF2, just heard you guys talk about it. I figured at ~75% off I'd better jump on it, just in case. Looking forward to getting home (holiday traveling now..) so I can download check out all my purchases.
Luckily we've got internet where we're traveling, so I won't miss the steam deals.. Otherwise, I would've been slightly upset.. -
Is there a Notebook review group on steam? I'd love to play with you guys online.
EDIT:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/notebookreview
There is o_o -
Oh yes, defo check Amazon etc before thinking 'hey, that's cheap' and hitting buy. Some of the offers are really cheap but others aren't.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
oh yeah, bf2 has been cheap for forever on amazon.
but i wanted the game on steam, so i can have my game on the cloud... and bf2 has not been cheap on steam, or on steam at all for that matter, until recently. -
-
The graphics are truly impressive and definitely suit the overall style of the game (realistic vs. futuristic <-- what I'm used to), but base building is one of my favorite aspects of any RTS game and can IMO be considered a strategy game within the game as improper placement of buildings can break any player's plan if exploited by the enemy. The removal of this aspect is what made me look away from DoW 2 as any RTS game I play now without it just feels incomplete (I keep catching myself in the middle of the game looking for my factories). I think I'll give the demo a try again to see if my impressions have changed any.
Purchased the id Package and SW Republic Commando. Seems I'm heading back into the FPS genre... -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i would also buy fallout 3, but it also need to hit the *insane low* price mark, like BF2 and GTA4... it would also be an insta-buy for me at the right price. $30 for the GOTY edition is a good deal, but it isn't thievery yet. i need thievery. -
BF2: Complete $8!? I already own two copies, but at that price, here comes a third!
@master, are you sure it's the complete collection? Amazon has theirs for $25... -
-Amadeus Excello- Notebook Evangelist
I respect this line of frugality. -
KoTR for $5.
-
Crossing my fingers for (most likely impossible) FO3 at a crazy low price. I've never played it.
I Haven't picked up anything yet. How long do these 1 day sales last? Meaning until what date? Jan 3? -
i'm already out about $100...damn you steam!
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
As with BF2 it is a toss up for me. I have a strong feeling something big will be coming tomorrow as well. -
I ended up with GTA IV and The Orange Box for 30 dollars the other day. I don't think I can play IV on a keyboard though, I can barely play SA on one; so I went and picked up a 360 controller to round out the experience
I'm getting between 15-30 fps at 1080p with mot settings on low though, and a bi of overclocking, if anyone's curious about the 9600m GT below.
Get ready for another Steam sale
