I might play on Darkhaven for the first BWE. Does anyone know if characters/home worlds will be wiped? If not then I'll go onto Yak's Bend.

Does anyone know if we get to keep the characters from the beta?

I will know, but not before the beta starts, i know someone who was on Yak's for the previous beta so if he's on Yak's by default, well' know for sure. You got one server change allowed during the beta though.

Everything will be wiped (possibly many times) before the actual release. Pre-orders like us will get "head-start" on release official gameplay though, maybe a day or two early.

Someone mentioned that the world is bind to you forever although it sounds a bit far-fetched and unreliable.

BTW the world you originate only matters in WvW, otherwise you can play with ANYONE you want.

    First time GW player here.

Anyone have links that will explain the bind to a server/world? Not sure
what that does but it sounds bad :)

Checked gw2 site but it really doesnt explain anything.

Sigh how does that client downloader not resume from where it left off. I was at seventy something percent and my comp crashed and now it's redownloading the whole thing from the beginning.

Are you sure, the progress bar will be at 0, but your Gw2.dat should be at the size it was when it crashed.

Yes, the progress picks up exactly from where it left off. When you relaunch the launcher, the progress bar displays the percentage of the remaining files, it doesn't include the overall files which already have been downloaded.

Did you guys get in without a hitch? I keep getting unable to complete operation when trying to get into yak's bend. Not sure if it that world or just the whole server. From reading other posts in other forums seems like everyone is having trouble with the amount of people trying to log in.

Edit: NVM it was yaks. I got into steamspur just fine.

Okay, so I just bought GW2 and have the product key, I also downloaded the GW2 16 GB thing. However, it asks for my GW2 account when I load it up. I never was able to make an account because I bought it from a third party. I just have the key code. Any help?

Well, still haven't had time to play. I'm on Yak's Bend and i'll add my character name once it's created. Gonna be online sometime today, and once i get home, i'm not moving away from the PC.

Spent yesterday evening building and upgrading PC.s The reaction my sister had when she went from a HD4350 to a GTX560 Ti was priceless though.

EDIT: Character name: Élianor, human elementalist.

I played a bit last night- an elementalist. I enjoyed everything. The game was a little laggy? I had to turn some settings down in different parts of town. Stuttering I suppose, not sure how to describe it.

I had some gameplay lag too, but the problem was not on my side of the game.
    Worked way better today.

And the game runs real good on my HD 6970m, playing on ultra preset with FXAA disabled at 1920x1080.

Been playing a little bit too, Ranger, and enjoy the hell out of it. I'm having some weird issue though where the world is black everytime I load a zone and I have to either enable/disable depth or reflections and it fixes it, but it gets annoying.

Late to the game here. Haven't kept up with GW2 like I have wanted to, it's just always seem too far off. But, I did just decide to pre-order from GMG and I went with the Digital Deluxe Edition since I'm a sucker for "bonuses". I'm downloading the Beta now and hopefully I'll get a few good hours of play in. I'm pretty much counting on GW2 and Diablo 3 to occupy my gaming time for the rest of the year.

    Hey guys,
I've been sorta lurking the NBR boards for a while now and thinking about buying a new laptop when I saw this thread!

I'm playing the beta on steamspur as well and would love to have people to play with if you'll have me :)

Unfortunately, I'm studying in Australia at the moment so my playtimes are a bit erratic but would love to pvp/dungeons/whatever!

My forum name (so I'm thinking IGN?) is woopwop.9281

At the moment, trying out a whole bunch of diff prof/race combos so don't have any char name nailed down yet ;)

Overall impressions are quite positive. Obviously lots of framerate issues and some bugs, but the game control feels nice, and honestly each class with different weapons feels like an entirely different class altogether. Main issues I have with it are 1) no speech bubble / real local chat, and 2) too little low-level directionality meaning it took me a while to find where to do quests around level 8, kept running into level 3 or level 20 areas, ditto with trying to find crafting NPCs.

Dipped in WvW for maybe half an hour, the lags man, couldn't play at all at big siege fights. Was getting around 1 frame a second. It has a lot of potential though.

Other than the horrendous performance on my rather dated laptop, I was really impressed, even with the "I'm-running-this-on-low" visuals. The art direction in the game is really brilliant. The gameplay still seems very hotkey-ish, but the limited skills, weapon-switching, and emphasis on movement help distinguish it from certain other MMOs.

All in all, after playing Guild Wars 1 off and on, I'm keeping my eye on GW2. It's shaping up really well so far.
