In my experience you cant really leech off of other streamers unless they invite you into there circle and cross promote with you.
In so in that we should just focus on having the best gameplay experience possible and enjoying ourselves.
I am constantly producing material for YouTube and Justin.TV and trying to one day grow enough to maybe turn it into a job, but when it comes to my games I still put fun and enjoyment above all else because at the end of the day that is what its all about and what everybody int he guild will be there for.

Something to take note too, is that these big internet groups may very well change their main home worlds between the beta weekends and the final release.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Yeah, and we may as well all depending.
For now this is just to get started, once in game we can evaluate population and determine if its better or worse to play in heavily populated servers or with popular groups.
I feel its best to mark our own turf rather than compete with other large media groups, and on a "outback" server it's probably more prone to have a mature playerbase, aka people I dont mind playing with or hearing on mumble not the rain of pre-teens that follow internet groups and will be in there server hoping to run into them. -

I'll go ahead and post the server choice to widescreengamingforum as well we have not taken much effort on organizing anything over there yet.
-
Got everything downloaded and found out my schedule changed
3 swings 27-29 so who knows how much I'll be on -
I think we should just run our own thing.
Kinda reminds me of the time i played WoW, when i went with Alliance since they had more mature playerbase than Horde but that was before Burning Crusade. -

If we do choose a world that doesn't have a large Internet group on it then that's means we'll be able to play WvWvW against them, just something to keep in mind.

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Anyways, pick a server that might suit us and we can try it out for the Beta. The key is to have the guild members all on a single server so we can meet each other in-game very easily. -
If you don't mind a bunch of frenchies (with various levels of english) tagging along i could get them to play the BWE with us.
-
My English aint perfect either. xD -
can't wait for this game to come out. Anyone got an extra invite to the beta weekend this weekend??
-
I'm currently pre-loading the client from university and i'm starting to wonder if they have some cap or the servers are under heavy load because i'm hitting only 500kB/s while i should be saturating the wireless G network i'm on. Yeah, i don't have N in my office which sucks, but at least i'm on 5GHz.
The .dat file seems to be a good 20GB if i calculated this right.
Oh and luckily the old command lines from GW will be implemented which would mean we won't need FRAPS to monitor framerate. I'll check to see if they are implemented or not in due time. -
-
Hmm, i'm at 23% with 4 700MB, using that gives me close to 20GB though (4700/0.23/1024=19.95GB). I believe you, but that means that there might be some error with the progress indicator or that there is something else involved than just downloading the file.
-
When i downloaded i maxed out at 1,25mb/s so there was a cap at least for me.
Should have easily done 5mb/s.
But the filesize of my client was 12,7gb. -

Think i found my answer for the download % indicator. It's probably based off the amount of files downloaded compared to the overall total rather than the amount of data downloaded.

Haven't posted in a while but it's worth a shot. I am voting for going with either Yak's Bend or Sorrow's Furnace. Yak's Bend has quite a following with Yogscast and GW2Guru, which is a website we should try to be related to. Sorrow's Furnace seems to have a lot of PvPers and some Guild Wars 2 websites/magazines so they will be a server to watch out for in WvW.
Maguuma vs Sorrow's Furnace vs Yak's Bend would probably be the most epic match ever xD

I think all the Guild Officers should meet up later today or tomorrow to reach a final verdict democratically. -
Yak's bend is ok with me friends who got on the previous beta were on that one.

Hello I just needed to know something regarding Guild Wars 2.
I needed to know if an Asus K50IN could run Guild Wars 2, even if it is on minimum.
The laptop has:
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.1GHz Processor
Geforce G102M 512MB Graphics Card
2GB RAM Memory
The game's minimum requirements are:
Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon 64 X2, or better 2 GB RAM NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI X1800, Intel HD 3000, or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better) 25 GB available HDD space
Thanks for your help! -

How exciting, can't wait for beta weekend! which happens to be during my study week before finals...
-
We figure a server out?
Found out my schedule changed yet again. Looks like I'm on mids when the beta will be live so I'll be on 2pmish - 8pmish. -
I have a question: can we make multiple characters each with a different home world in the same GW2 account?
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
1. SaveTheKennies: Yak's Bend or Darkhaven
2. Tijo: Yak's Bend
3. Star Forge: Yak's Bend or Darkhaven
4. PlagueDoctor: Yak's Bend or Darkhaven
5. ViciousXUSMC: Steamspur Mountains
I don't want to proceed beyond what the preferences are and do correct me if I got your preference wrong. However, it looks like Guild Officer opinions are democratically leaning on Yak's Bend. I do note that a few of us have friends that are non-NBR in-game that are also favoring servers like Yak's Bend so it is essential that we should isolate from them as well... -
Darn, I wanted to make chars that could keep in touch with a number of communities.
-
EDIT: Or as the blog post put it:
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Let's do this, you guys do Yaks Bend and let me know how it fairs.
I'll be doing Steamspur Mountains since I already posted that I would and I don't go back on my word.
This is only the Beta not the final game and it is a good way to evaluate what is better. A highly populated server that everybody wants to be on or a smaller server that does not have the same calling.
Id probably rather become a larger part of a small server than a shadow of somebody in a larger server.
The only thing to gain is more people to play with/against but that could lead to stability issues and most of the organized pvp is in groups of like 6 anyways.
I like being the underdog, not following trends or trying to fit in is my way. -
As you said, it's the beta. It's nice for me that NBR had the option of Yak's Bend though as i have friends who were planning on going into Yak's bend as well. I probably won't be able to coax them into joining the NBR guild since they already have plans to reestablish our old GW guild. For me, it's the NBR guild first and if i can join another it'll be theirs. I'll get them on board if they are available and we need more people for come activities tough.
That said if the decision were to change, they already know that i'll roll with NBR so i'll end up with the majority of the NBR group anyways.
EDIT: On the bright side we'll have a good idea of how multiple servers are so if there are any problems, we'll be able to make a more educated choice for the next beta. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Per the decision, The NBR Guild will be split on two home servers. Vicious will be leading the guild operations in Steamspur Mountains while the rest of the officers that wants to do Yak's Bend will operate there. We can all reconvene here, the Steam Group or in a new NBR dedicated guild thread that I will make shortly to see how both servers feel and go from there.
Any member is not obligated to join one or the other but it would be nice though to keep a good amount for both since I don't want to see Vicious alone on his own without our support in Steamspur or the vice-versa. So the two beta home servers NBR will use are Steamspur and Yak's with Vicious leading the former and the rest of the officers leading Yak's. We can all reconvene back on NBR or the Steam Group as we go though the weekend.
Also note that my vote with Yak's was NOT due to the presence of a high publicized community following that is on the server, but the fact that many friends not affiliated from this guild has decided to join Yak's for some of us who have played GW 1. I also do think that GW2Guru's presence on Yak's can help new players to the series get accustomed as well. My two cents of course. -
One more thing to note is that we have one home server change allowed during the beta so we could do both at worse.
EDIT: I seriously feel like pulling my hair out about this... -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
PS: As Guild Leader, I feel like I am not being a good one as I am suppose to unify all decisions and now I got background issues to deal with as well relating to the community of the game. -
I'll probably go Steamspur Mountains...don't really like the major online communities affiliated with Yak's Bend, namely Yogs and gw2guru.

It's not like having the guild split for this beta weekend is going to ruin everything. After this weekend, we can see how we feel about the servers and figure out what we're going to do for the next beta and onward. We don't even have a release date for the game yet so we don't have to have everything decided now.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
yeah I dont know where this talk of split is from, this is a beta weekend. We are reconing for info to help make a better educated decision when the full game comes out as to what kind of server we want to be based on.
I doubt given the info posted so far that even if we all agreed to be on the same server that we would have much organized grouping going on this weekend anyways as nobody has committed to a time to play and pretty much everybody has said they have some sort of in real life obligation to tend to.
You guys are over reacting, lets show our age and relax a bit.
I personally already have organized a play time, people to play with, a voice chat server, and will be live streaming.
Just as with the guild name votes, I am quite capable of getting things done

Right now just pick either Yak's or Steamspur and enjoy the game. We aren't forcing anyone to one or the another and if time-permits, I might check out Steamspur and see how things are going in general. -
Added you on Steam s2odin although i don't chat much over steam, but it'll make organizing things easier. Now gonna have to write a message to vicious to add him.
EDIT: Friend request sent to vicious, dropped a comment on your profile with how my user name should show. -

I wish I could do the caveman thing and play all day, have the kids though. So I will be on mostly at night time.
When the full game is released I plan to put in vacation request and take the first 2 or 3 days to play full on cave mode. -
I will be playing on Steamspur Mountains.
Already promised ViciousXUSMC that we could do Guild Wars 2 instead of Saint's Row: The Third. -
