HTWingNut's Great December Steam Game Giveaway!

Ok, then it sounds as 'probable' good news to the possible winners that are looking forward for a 2011 release.

 

As long as it charges the game right away and not when the game is released. I don't want to have to worry about this in May or June or November 2011 or whenever the game is released. All of a sudden some charges blow through my PayPal that I'd forgotten about.

Can anyone confirm if it charges you right away or waits until release?

 

All preorders are charged right away since it gets added to your steam library instantly

 

Ok, great. The other question is what countries are eligible? I've had success with Canada and UK (and US obviously). I guess we find out if/when it happens and deal with it then.

 

What do you mean what countries are eligible? ._.

 

I mean which countries can I gift games to? All of them? Are certain games restricted in certain regions? A user asked me that question, and I am not 100% certain.

 

I think you can gift to anyone really ._. Not exactly sure about that myself. I got gifted games from UK when I was in Asia so yeah it should work fine globally

I revised the rules slightly. Mainly noting that the game needs to be available for purchase by the contest end (Dec 22). Like I said though, I can make an exception if it's a week or two to wait, but I don't know that too many games are being released the last week of Dec or first week of Jan.

I also noted that if you can change your mind, then add the new game to the form. Only your last game entered will be counted. Just please don't change too much.

Here's the revised rules also updated in first and second post:

(1) CHOOSE THE GAME YOU WANT TO WIN UP TO $60US!
Enter your NBR Username and game desired to win worth up to $60US (cost at time of drawing) into the form at the link at the bottom of this post.

The game can be a single game or can include a game pack, but only single purchase items. Winners will be asked to confirm the game or game pack by supplying us with the link to the game at Steam. The game must also be released and/or available for purchase at the time the contest ends (Dec 22).

(2) ONE ENTRY PER PERSON!!!
If you enter more than once, then only your last entry will be counted. This will allow you to change your mind, but please don't do it too often. More work than I actually have time for. Thanks.

(3) YOU WILL HAVE FROM NOW UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST DEC 21 (11:59:59 PM 12/21) TO ENTER THE CONTEST.
If the form is not shut down by then, then any entries after that time will be deleted and not eligible to win.

(4) YOU WILL HAVE TO BE AN NBR USER SINCE NOV 2010 OR EARLIER.

(5) WINNERS WILL BE PICKED RANDOMLY "OUT OF A HAT". NO NUMBER GUESS REQUIRED!
The list of entrants will be randomized digitally, and then random numbers picked digitally based on their position in the list. This is akin to pulling a name out of a hat.

(6) WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AND POSTED IN THE SECOND POST OF THIS THREAD!
It is the winner's responsibility to PM me with their steam email address, game submitted to win, and link to the game at Steam that they won. We are attempting to pull off a youtube or webcast of some sort for the drawing, stay tuned for details. You must PM me within 48 hours after contest end.

I think the only things that go over the $60 limit for steam are the game packs. Single games tend to max out at the 50s

 

Oh right sorry the currency exchange rates mess up my mind, I just can't work in dollars.

If you need to change the game in the form simply reapply with the new game and your latest application will be considered your decision. Just don't change too often

You can put games that are not out yet only if they're available for preorder during the time of gifting or up to 2 weeks after the giveaway date (Early January). If the game is just sitting there on steam and can't be purchased for preorder yet, then nope

Gave a friend a piggybank across the snow since she could barely walk in her high heels, and we weren't going to let her walk barefoot in the snow. It also didnt help that it was 3am, below zero and we were all in tshirts/mini-dresses and everyone else was drunk but me

 

Well, that really sucks. My number was 192 (I think). I can't believe someone got closer to 175 than that! I hate my luck sometimes...

I'm not really sad; I'm just disappointed because this is such a common occurrence.

Also, I'm am known for having a 10% giving people horrible gas and a sudden urge to hug everyone in sight and not let go until either they've passed out or you release some of the gas (whichever comes first). Sorry in advance. *gives you some Tums and a full jar of cookies*

I know. That's why I'm dumb enough to actually play the lottery once or twice every month or so.

 

Same here. When I was gainfully employed I used to play it weekly. If only I took that $5/wk and banked it, it would at least have been $260 in my pocket every year. That's winning more than I ever have. I'm still holding on to a $3 winner and was excited about it, lol.

 

But again ... kudos to you guys for doing this!

 

I think my favorite Christmas moment was 3 years ago.....my wife and I had finished doing all the shopping for everybody's presents and were barely in the green and happy that it was all done, the next day at work I received an unexpected bonus of $500 and figured it would either be spent on extra Christmas presents or stashed away in the bank. My wife was raised in a well off family, I was raised in a low to middle class income family and most of the time her family was let's say "less than giving". When I got home and told my wife what had happened the first thing she thought of was to find a family that was down on their luck and buy Christmas for another family that needed it, we located a family that the father had lost his job the mother had just had surgery due to a car accident and they had 3 children that would have had nothing that year to buy christmas for, honestly it touched me in a way that I will never forget not because of the family but because the Christmas spirit had touched my wife in a way that she wasn't raised or accustomed to living as and reminded me what Christmas is truly about.....

 

Now that's a great story DaneGRClose. It is great when people can help out like that. And that your wife was so giving. That's what I like.

I have a similar story. My wife died September 2009, my boys weren't even 1 and 2 years old then. We had both been out of work for almost a year, basically since our second was born. I was able to get by, but it sure wasn't easy. My kids were going to daycare at our local church. Out of the blue, a company shows up with big boxes of presents for my boys. Not only clothes and shoes, but lots of toys. Apparently they were associated with the church. It was one of the most touching things that's ever happened to me. I really didn't know what to say or how to react. It definitely helped with Christmas.

Damn these 2 stories brought a tear to my eyes, Great memorable moments indeed.

htwingnut, I know it's late to say it, but I am very sorry for your loss. Given your excellent sense of humor, I would have never guessed that you had to live such a devastating experience, and only 1 year ago. I really admire your attitude. Your little ones are lucky to have a father like you.
