Just don't ground me from my new laptop when it gets here. -
TBP, I need to say, love you man! +rep

TheBluePill Notebook Nobel Laureate
Thanks Graz'zt! Right back at ya!! -
Even so, what about this 660M release date...? Correct me if im wrong, but a 660 i merely a slightly higher clocked 650 (which could simply be turned into a slightly overclocked 650, ie 660). With that said, the 650 is available and the 660 may not come out for, god knows how long with the TSMC hits 28nm capacity problems | bit-tech.net.
Like i say... correct me if im wrong, im tryin to figure this all out before dishin out the cash. I think a lot of us are ordering for Diablo 3 release and well, theres no sense in doing that if the notebook gets to you late may. -
Awesome laptops Notebook Evangelist
I had a skim through and from what I can see and please correct me if im wrong
The GTX 680m is approx. 30% faster then the 580m and will launch mid to late june and will be supported by the clevo p150em
Is this all correct ? -
Yep, and P170em and Alienware.
Hopefully released by then. -
Let us hope AMD come out with their 7970M soon. Maybe that would put Nvidia in high gear
Kinda strange that the first benchmarks came from 680M and not 7970M if you ask me. -
TheBluePill Notebook Nobel Laureate
AMD has been more tight lipped about their 7X series Mobile parts than Apple is on their releases. -
NVIDIA is on neutral gear now... Rolling forward with no acceleration...
-
stranger as it seems like 7970m is equal to 680m with 35W lesser TDP
-
It could well be that Apple will debut some of their new 7xxx parts for them.
-
LOL these people have all GPUs listed. 660M, 670M, 680M, 7970M, they have it all.
Monster Notebook
I don`t believe it until I see it.
Yeah, I wonder what the reason is. Problems @ TSMC or some crazy magic with the upcoming mobile GPUs? Strange. Wonder if they were equally tight lipped with the 6000 series... -
1 and a half weeks left till all the benchmarks. I will only buy if I can get a gt650m or amd 7750 with 3612qm cpu for £450 to £500 with 1080p screen from the dell outlet store. It seems its gonna cost though as there are shortages.
-
Strange they don't have 675m there, but 680m omg, and they are due July-September delivery.. here we go
-
TheBluePill Notebook Nobel Laureate
While you guys are waiting, I will be using my PC to play everything on 1080p, full graphics.
(I know.. I know.. Shameless... I feel guilty.. Really.. )
Graz'zt.. You have a 580M in a badarse machine.. is there anything you really can't run at full tilt? -
While I am waiting I will try to complete batman arkham asylum and test drive unlimited 2 on my laptop. Completed dirt 3 already.
-
Same old song: metro 2033 and crysis 2 patched.
-
Well, as a fellow alienware owner you know the deal, point is not to max, point is to have the best possible hardware
yupp, as soon as 680m is on ebay, I am buying one
but this 685m rumors are kinda messing my head..
BTW can you imagine 680m SLI in your m18x
-
TheBluePill Notebook Nobel Laureate
Oh.. i can certainly imagine those in SLI.
Hopefully the price wont be too out of the roof.
Now.. the 7970M.. I am really excited about that for some reason.
I wonder how much my current 6990Ms would fetch when the 7970M hits the market? -
Flashed my 580M to a 675M.
-
Geo!! How did you do it
+rep for the effort
-
Is there a point to doing that?
-
Fell any thing different?
-
Well it proves that the 675M is 101% identical to a 580M. And this is like a free upgrade in a way, lol.
Nah feels the same. -
it doesn't need a point, it is just for fun
-
yeah just for s and giggles man, so we "get" the latest tech without it even being released =)
-
TheBluePill Notebook Nobel Laureate
Wow.. You can now sell that Laptop for a Premium on Ebay! Someone will give you top dollar for it. Ha!
-
Chinese resellers of MSI barebones have confirmed these dates for the upcoming top dogs:
AMD HD7970M, May 30th
Nvidia GTX680M, July 2nd
They start shipping out the barebones with the GPUs that date. We are not that far away
And here is a complete shocker, if google translated it correct and if I understand what the poster meant:
Either he means that 7970M = 6990M or that 7970M is 35% better than 6990M...
-
what teh fahk may 30th?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO -
Cloudfire any news on the hd 7750m release date.
Normally top end cards mobile take a long time so only 1 month delay for 7970m is decent.
awaKeN is the laptop in your signature the only one you have. -
yeah im wondering about this too along with other lower yet gaming cards lol
-
Those dates aren't surprising. TSMC 28nm issues means GTX 680 will be the only Kepler product for a while.
-
sadly, yes
EDIT:
BUT WAIT! pastapvz was able to order a barebone with a 7970M in it from a portugeuese reseller, and the ETA was the end of this month.
idk, perhaps MSI i just slow, because they still haven't updated their barebones to a 675M yet either. -
Trust me you should be looking at getting the amd 7750m or 7730m or gt650m or gtx660m. No point getting top end I say as then all it is a more convenient way to take a pc with you. The cost is not justified for top end. I heard the gtx680m laptops will cost incredible amounts of money.
Just get a gt650m or 7750m as they will perform as well as the higher end cards from previous generation while being very portable and being energy friendly. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
While they will be, they will simply lack the brute force to do 1080p well.
Also your version of "reasonable" is not the same to others.
For instance an HD 7870 costs £260, while the 7970 is £396. -
i thought gtx 560m/570m could handle 1080p relatively well... If thats available in a slim frame with adequate cooling whats not to like
? but i see why people would want the latest and best. some people cant afford that or if your like me u want portability and ur willing to sacrifice some performance for it
-
Yeah, my main concern right now is the best bang for the buck. I'm realllly hoping for a $1500 P150EM with a 7970M in it - it would be sweet and would probably last me four years before I have to do another refresh, besides, the 28nm in 7970M really brings incredible OCing opportunities. 680M will probably be atrociously priced compared to the 7970M, just like the 580M was compared to the 6990M/70M.
-
TheBluePill Notebook Nobel Laureate
That would be a great machine for certain. Even with the 6990M, its a great machine now and kind of the Pinnacle of the Powerful/Portable ratio. -
675m is already cheap compared tot the 580m, I wonder what the 7970m's price will compete with... between 670m - 675m maybe?
-
I can read Chinese
It means that the for benchmark, the 7970m is 35% better than the 6990m
and for in-game fps, the 7970m will be able to provide 25% to 30% more fps when compared to the 6990m
If it's cheaper than the 675m or even slightly more expensive, it will definitely be a great deal
-
Thaaanks man. I was waiting for some confirmation from one of our chinese members.
Man that is total and utter insane if true. A 65W beating a 100W by 25-30%
Yup that will be my nest GPU if true
-
Confirmed. The reason why Google Translate is quite unreliable for Chinese Language is mostly because the logic is "backwards" from English.
-
I'm waiting for ivybrige + kepler too. My laptop has 10 minutes of batery, 15 if i disable wifi lol.
-
My battery has around 10mins sometimes goes down csuddenly from 80% to critical in a second. Ivy bridge kepler= very low idle even with optimus and 22nm hd 4000 switchable graphics that will enable for 10 hour battery on the go even with gaming laptops.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If your battery lasts 10 minutes, that's because it's old and needs replacing to be honest.
-
Yeah lol, I`ve seen notebooks with 580M SLI getting 40 minutes or something
-
Talking about SLI, can you imagine 680m in SLI scoring 9k 3dmark11 at stock!
-
Yup that is 30% better than 580M SLI. Not bad score
HURRAY: Nvidia 600 series not just Fermi!! (Kepler)
