lol come on bear with me haha lol jk
The poll is ponting towards the Sager... its cheaper than m15x (I guess) and more powerful than the gateway...
How is the NP5793 physically? vs the gateway?
Im waiting for BWHXEON to tell me... mmh -
Mate you've been told a fair few times now, the Sager quality physically is pretty damn good, yeah I know its plastic, but who cares, if you read the reviews they all say it feels solid and has decent construction, whilst definetly not feeling cheap. The Gateway from what I've read isn't so crash hot construction wise (few creaks here and there when you pick it up), but hey, for the money, its pretty good!
Put it this way, if this machine will be moved around maybe from room to room or over to a mates place for the night, go with the Sager/Gateway. If you'll be hiking this machine around school with you all day long, I would go the M15x.
Out in Australia, they unfortunately don't sell Gateway, and the Sager boxes (Metabox) are too dear for me. I'll be picking up a Dell XPS M1730 with the 8800's SLI tomorrow (when they finally release them).
But yeah, I'd go the Sager! -
He's had the last 4 pages of this thread (not to mention countless advice in the past) and still can't make up his bloody mind?!
For beatsiz's ADD benefit I will summarise things below:
THE 17" SAGER IS NOT AS HEAVY AS YOU THINK
8800GTS HAS ENOUGH POWER TO PLAY MOST GAMES EVEN WITH A WEAK PROCESSOR
ALIENWARE CUSTOMER SUPPORT ISN'T RECOMMENDED ON THIS FORUM -
Thank you Harley the summary helps alot
When people give me all the info and personal opinion and thoughts on off topic things it gets pretty messy
Where should I configure a NP5793/M571RUU?
Is it possible to get the glossy screen 1440*900 or is 1650*1080 maybe better.. if its available
Could I get a size/weight comparison to the gateway? Since ive used a gateway and can compare. -
If you're in Europe or the USA there should be plenty of online websites allowing Sager configurations, the Sager and Clevo forum should have a sticky on that. You'll have to ask bwxheon or narsnail about the physical dimensions of their laptops since they mentioned it in their reviews. -
Ive been searching but I find it ironic that sagers website is more expensive than others... and I have 3 sites that have the same exact price on everything and the exact upgrades... its kind of confusing me.... I will go and look on the sager forums
Thank you -
go with www.xoticpc.com
i think they have the best prices, have a memebr online here to help out in the sager forum, and have great customer service from what I have been told.
Also www.eurocom.com has pretty good prices plus the 1440x900 resolution. and if your a student they will give you a 5% discount. -
Just that they strip it down pretty well... lol
Its cheaper than xoticpc!
Only downturn that may scare me is the 1.3MP VS 2MP webcam
OMG ! ! ! Eurocom is a $$$ wh*re
Orange trim ONLY with 1920*1200
Extra battery and other things cost like 20-30% more... ugh...
BUT they have 2gb ram standard and 120gb hdd... but still.... $$$ wh*re
I guess ill stick to exotic pc -
honestly if your going to buy a laptop depending on webcam, im going to hurt you after all we have done to HELP YOU CONSTANTLY -
I am going to put an order through... xotic pc...
What other companies are there asides Powernotebooks Sager Eurocom and Xotic Pc? -
-
Weird prices though... mmh $1200 without HDD or RAM ... $70 4gb ram on newegg... already have an HDD...
pretty good pretty good...
How is their customer service etc...? -

THIS THREAD IS AMAZING ! ! ! IT HELPED ME SOOOO MUCH
It lists all the clevo resellers -
Will you please just shut up and buy?
-
-
So... just to break this down
Robson= NOT WORTH IT
Internal TV Tuner ($90 vs $120 .... only difference is one has a huge remote? no thanks ill take portable + cheaper)
RAM should be bought off of newegg right? and sell the stick thats coming with my NP5793 and hdd too since I have a 250gb hdd -

OH MY GOD....dude, do you know how to do ANY researching on your own?? Holy Shniekees...don't be lazy! You ask questions to which the answers are already posted in numerous locations all over this forum...and many of which were already answered in this very thread! LOL....Reading this thread was entertaining but almost made me throw my lenovo across the room lol....
-
I asked those last ones to recap. and I couldnt find much about my questions, looks yourself and please tell me if im wrong -
I just got back from best buy for the 4th time in 2 weeks and I have somewhat of a final question which may sound dumb...
Buying the P-6831FX and the FX7024 (24 inch 1080p lcd included) for the total of around $2500-$2600 be a smart idea? I dont know if tax is not included... so that could ruin my plan.
First off they both match in color... lol
Then I have power at home and a somewhat pretty powerful notebook for on the go.
Or should I just get the P-6831FX and get the desktop later when the price gets down if I need the power? Since the gateway is at bestbuy for $1199
Sorry if I keep rambling on and on about M15x, NP5793 and Gateway
And I keep forgetting NOT to open a new thread... -
Uhh don't? It would be a waste of money getting both, get the laptop and upgrade the processor later, unless you want to get into hardcore gaming the laptop will do whatever you want comfortably.
-
I will still have to see...
I dont really know how much power I will need...
I am getting a rain check on wednesday because the price of $1199 will be effective until saturday. And they have deliveries comming on tuesday. So I HOPE I get mine on wednesday.
If it doesnt have the power I will get the FX7024 because its Q6600 and 8800gt for $1000 is a bargain. and it will tear up anything I throw at it. Apparently they say the 8800gt is OC'ed so that may be the problem people are having with the heat. I will then just upgrade the cooling or so. And again... $1000 WOW... Or am I completely wrong?
When im on the go my P-6831 should do the job. Its just a bit thinner than my sisters dell 1520 I believe and it has roughly 4-6 times the power
I need a laptop no matter what, but getting this P-6831FX for $1199, which is almost as cheap as a dell but with lots more power. T9300 upgrade will only be $300 in a while. -
I'm wondering if this thread will actually reach 10 pages before a purchase is made or the mods lock it out of sheer frustration from spammage.
Remember this order for deciding on gaming laptop power: 1. Graphics card 2. Processor 3. RAM -
BUT you guys have helped me alot and ive learned a heck of a lot from here... actually I learned 80% of what I know on laptop from here.
Leave the comments or jokes to yourself please
Well... what if I can get a laptop thats almost as powerful as the sager or m15x and be half to a third the price AND then get a matching desktop which will drop kick any laptop and both of those for less than ONE NP5793 or m15x
P-6831FX should deliver all the power I need on the go
And FX7024 or whatever it will become if it changes or gets upgraded when I buy it... delivers all the power I would need at home.
So if on wednesday I get a raincheck... I may be seen running out of best buy with the Gateway P-6831FX under my arm with the lock and cable attached followed by the Geek Squad and Personel right behind me...
-
Thats definitely the right decision beastiz. If I hadn't pulled the trigger so fast buying the desktop and the laptop would be my pick.
-
-
FX7024 8800gt Q6600 500gb hdd 3gb ram Nice looking
AND
P-6831FX 8800m gts T5450 (upgraded $350) 250gb hdd 3gb ram same style as desktop
All that for... less than a tricked out M570RU-UWooh mama ima have some fun
And I will post a thread on my setup in my room, all black, carbon and orange themed Desktop+Laptop combo and shizz
Who knows... im going for the P-6831FX first and IF I need the power ill just get the FX7024 in addition... and if I do need the power in a year or so they would probably have 9800 in itocto core maybe and stuff for the sameprice and the same style
Im happy lol
BUT if on wednesday I get a raincheck... I may be seen running out of best buy with the Gateway P-6831FX under my arm (FX7024 on the other maybe) with the locks and cables dangling followed by the Geek Squad and Personel right behind me... -
Still waiting to see if the kid actually makes the damn purchase and finally stops spamming the boards about what to buy.
Hoping not to see threads from said user about how powerful the card is and how great it is to laugh at users not playing Crysis and other FPS games with top-end hardware. -
I also noticed that I am the opposite of people who love "fluid" 60+FPS
I played Crysis at a friends house on a 8800gtx OC'ed and everything on very high + natrual mod and some DX10 effects (XP) and we got about 8min 64max 8-28avg And I only noticed stuff under 14-16fps being really annoying... he had something on his monitor that duplicated frames or mixed them up so that even though you have less frames you dont get the eye strain or brain pain.
But I think all high on crysis on this lappie will be fine for me
And then If I everneed anything more powerful to go with it: FX7024 8800gt OCQ660 blablabla .... And/Or whatever will be added/replaced in months
-
May God himself shove the laptop in his arms already...
-
He's like a kid on Christmas day, trying to figure out what present to open first. I just hope that the BB Santa doesn't give him a bag of coal.
-
the real question is how he came to decide between 360, PS3 and the Wii.

Guys, just let him as questions. We give that privilege to everyone else on these boards.
I personally do not see the point of having a gaming laptop and a gaming desktop. -
I agree with Chaz's observation. As I have advised before, buy one gaming system; my personal opinion would be to purchase a gaming desktop rig. Leave the gaming to more capable desktop hardware, and leave mobility to the good ol' laptop.
Btw, while you should ask questions, it is extremely annoying to post questions that can easily be answered with some fast research. As a consumer you should not only make an educated decision, but you should make that decision based on your research. Learn to consume intelligently. -
thegreatsquare Notebook Deity
Why decide? Buy both of them!
I'd get this laptop first if you have to choose. If I didn't have just bought my lappy in Nov I'd get one myself. 3DMark06 on the GW=my SLi1 when both are stock and I have a faster processor. Put a T9300 in it and you could really forego the desktop for a while.
As for the Desktop, stay away from the 7020 and the AMD. I really like the 7024. I've hooked it to my 37" 720p. With 4AA my lowest FPS was 26 running through the thickest forest and full, but low-poly mod, grass. But it is usually well above 40fps outdoors most of the time.
Either way, get the BB warranty. Especially with the desktop as you can just drop it off to BB and let them deal with it. Also, if it can't be fixed you can upgrade at that point and they sell a few Velocity Micro rigs as well. -
Chaz, we know that...but it is really frustrating to see him hijack all the threads just because he can`t decide what laptop to buy.
Bottom line:
- FX = best bang for the buck, the 8800M GTS issome 10-15 % slower than the 8800M GTX, so it`s still almost twice as fast as the 7950GTX and can play ALL GAMES ON HIGH AT at lest 1280x800, CRYSIS included.
-Alienware M15x : runs HOT, about 85C at full load, heavy enough for a 15 incher(over 7 pounds) and has some issues with lighting and screen wobbliness
-Sager 5793 - best build quality, best performer(8800M GTX) , and the best compromise between price/performance ratio for a laptop sporting the 88M GTX.
Price bottom line: FX with a T9300: about 1700$, Sager with t9300 and wuxga about 2300$ and the alienware over 2700$... I guess the choice is between money, performance and build quality.
I personally chose the sager and love every bit of it. -
...
-
you mean passion
-
haha I am god =]
I will buy the P-6831FX in about... 1 hour
If I get there and they do not have it, im either running out with the displayed one or I get a raincheck
Later on if I need performance etc... I will get the FX7024, or whatever they have to offer at a price thats not possible to build yourself
As for PS3 vs wii vs 360
Xbox... I am amazed how they put the going in circles part because when I play xbox I feel like running in circles... red ring of death, Halo (dont get me started), plastic gets discolored pretty fast, seperate HD cable, separate HD DVD player
And I already knew HD DVD was going to lose, I knew the PS3 would be better even though I chose that decision 1-2 years before it was out
PS3 has Bluray, I own all PS products, I love the games, PSP PS3 interconnectivity, cell, all the projects (PS HOME, FOLDING@HOME etc...) and many more things
Wii... didnt have GH3 at the time... and ... IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANYWAYS(which my sister wanted and that accounted for 50% on which console we'd get)
How is the sager $2300? It runs me up to about $2400 and then tax... yay... shipping.. wooh...
Gateway (+ free FSX or Crysis) $1199 + tax $1300~ T9300 will be around $250 in about 6-12 months imo... or even lets just say $300
So... and can anyone compare the NP5793 to the Gateway? I have read all the reviews and benchmarks etc... but havent heard any opinions from 1 user with both... or at least used both... because one can love it and have no clue about the gateway vis versa and I get no clue on it...
BWHXEONSpit it out
-
I swear, a meteor shower would be ok right now...
-
Arent the Higher configured FX's way too expensive? I mean... $1199 + $300something for T9300... thats nowhere near their prices... $1499 from them is 2.0ghz C2D not peryn... $1999 from them has 2.4ghz 3mb cache C2D and overkill 1920*1200 res. so gateway retail P-6831FX is the way to go right now
DANGIT... I just noticed that this post kind of hiijacks this thread oops... -
Hijacked! Poooolice!
-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
MOTHER OF GOD ! ! !
Darn backorders!
EEEEH Friday ima check again...
How much longer do you guys think they will have this laptop?
Im scarred that Gateway wil release a laptop like this for around $1400 with 8800m gtx and perynsooner or later...
But who cares... Firday or saturday... if I dont get it Im rainchecking it
And FINALLY M15X has Peryn standard (2.5ghz)... black option is the only thing missing and the base options...
If I cant get the Gateway im stuck with NP5793 and M15X... at least it cuts the problems by 33% -

I think beatsit is the same guy as user name "1530" remember that thread, same thing.
-
Check IP'sor whatever...
I guess no ones going to answer my previous question.... -
Edit just ran 3dmark 9500 out of the box with windows xp. -
Did you turn off UAC? Your benchmarks should then work.
How much power do I need?
