    Just get the sager.

So the warranty, and non-T5450 will keep your problems at a minimum.

    WOOH!

I RRS'ed or something along those lines the Gateway so I already paid it, and theyve had 2 gateways on order but the first one to come goes to me :)
    And I got it for $1199 + a game for free :D

The Sager will be my next step up later on, right now the gateway will do me fine! If I need the power ill get the gateway FX7024 quadcore 8800gt for $967 (excellent price)

Anyways... anything special I should know about the gateway once I get it? Like reinstalling vista, making drivers cd's, recovery discs, restore points...

The manager said I had an 80-95% chance that I dont get it on the 26th and on the 27th I'd have around the same chance... so if it hits me twice id be amazed :D

Oh things will go very good :) Im hoping its going to be amazing :D

Just one thing left to do when it comes... *take the table saw out and puts the battery to the 1 inch mark* hehehe ;) :p

16 pages and still doesn't quite have a laptop on hand yet? The juvenile really is taking his time spamming the forum on the long tortuous process of actually waiting for a PC. At least the ordeal will be over and he'll be too busy playing Crysis on the new toy to bother spamming the forums further.

I dont have the laptop on hand since no gateway was available.
I will get mine on the 26th or 27th depending on if BB takes the laptop from the UPS and keeps it for me, or someone is stupid enough NOT to read the label saying do not give to customer who ordered it. since I paid for it when I ordered... the others didnt... so I get priority

It sounds like I cant decide and stuff... but when I have a gateway for $1199 a sager for $2300 and an AW for $2700... theres a tough choice...
Just going up 10-15% in GPU speed and many other things are nice, but double price?
And AW which turned out to have some issues... and high price...

I couldnt chose, until I made this poll. Thank you.

Will they have a battery that will cover the entire back of the laptop so its uniform? Or do notebooks like this never get new stuff...

You couldn't choose unless you had a loaded gun stuck to your head, otherwise why wait until more than 700 posts before getting round to the topic that's been bothering you since you first joined?!

No idea what your query on the battery is about, if it's delivered you won't have to connect the battery to your laptop to get it started. Haven't you even bothered going to the store to have a look at the test model and then asking salespeople about what it will be like when it's delivered?

If you don't ask and don't have the patience to pester the salesperson then that's your loss, not that your question about the battery is likely to adversely affect your health or the performance of the system.

The guy seemed ADD or Schizophrenic w.e because when he said he'd go order one and reserve it for me... he was flying around isles and doing all sorts of things and the manager asked us what he was doing... lol

And above all.... they were trying to convince me that if I couldnt get the gateway FX... that the sony would be almost as good... uhm.. 17 inch sony... with a 8600gt at most? for the same price... uhm... no thanks im not dumb

Funny I thought birds of the same feather would be better at communicating with each other, although I could be very wrong about the above statement. Of course since Beatsiz expects the world to revolve around him and get perfect service without persisting for it then that's his prerogative.

Didn't the manager who interrupted your pleasant chat with the salesman have anything to say about your purchase and all the questions that go with it?

Yes he helped it all... no I wasnt chatting because the guy was running around the aisles trying to figure out something...

So the manager came to us and asked if we were ok and we told him that the guy was twirling around the aisles for 10 minutes...

And yeah he told me everything I needed to know... including getting the sony if I cant get the gateway... which was weird... did that sony have a 8700gt? Anyways... I know the gateway was the best there was there

And I have a very bad feeling that on the 26th and 27th they wont receive any "granted" orders and then I will be stuck without a new laptop for a week or so and then they will tell me I can get a refund but with some costs because of idk... and then offer me a diff. laptop or a desktop.. and I will chose the Q6600 8800gt FX7024 and the delivery problems will occur again if they dont have any in stock...

They had a bunch of Phenoms FX7020 in stock but its more expensive... and its less powerful... so no one would buy it... so thats why theyre all in stock...

If you speak with the same grammar as your typing then don't be surprised you didn't get any service. Why didn't you ask the manager about your battery question instead of complaining about sales staff inattention?! Since you obviously weren't alone and had to be chaperoned by someone didn't you ask your companion to help you as well?

You've had 17 pages of info on this thread, if you still can't get your precious toy due to customer service issues then it's time to put your foot down on your end and get something done. You've got enough influence with family cash so I don't see how you can't get the wheels to turn if you actually put in the effort to get what you want.

I have the order, I paid for the laptop, its on order, the first gateway to come in is going to me.

No I dont speak like this, I just type fast and have other things to do in my life.

I know this is 17 pages long...

    anyways...

Once I get it... I have my hard drive in this laptop that I would like to put in the gateway... do I need that pin adapter? If so where do I get one?
Do I boot the computer with both in it and then select from the boot menu which vista to load? and then from there on move my files?

Its really simple as inserting a SATA 2.5" notebook harddrive in 2nd HD bay and booting up. It will find bootable OS partition and boot from it. If you are not tech savy, best advice is play with your soon be FX and do the upgrade later. I found few people who did upgrade, clean install and botching up their FX and BSing on this forum that its broken.

    Okay

But my question is... there are going to be OS's on both HDDs so will I get the OS chosing screen?

Does it need an adapter on the pins so it just pops in?

What do you mean with ppl upgraded, installed and botching up and then BSing?

Your 'other' OS in other HDD won't work with FX. It will first complain about AHCI or whatever mismatching kernel etc... But you never know, it might work. You get the 'OS chosing screen' only when you insert a multi boot, bootstrap. Since, you are just going to add a HDD, you won't have that option.

No. Just plug in the cables and pop right in.

Sounds to me, you aren't very tech savy. There are many people before you who did something to their FX. Screwing it up. Coming on here and seeking for help while complainting why it didn't work for them.

Sorry if this is the 3rd post in a row:

    - When does best buy receive UPS Deliveries?

    - Should I already pre-download the 8800m gts drivers? Or are the Gateway ones fine for now?

    - I get a free game... which one should I pick? I dont know which games there are but for now I only know theres Crysis and FSX (I have crysis)

    - Where could I purchase an additional Battery? I searched but nothing really came back

    - What difference would it make if I buy 4gb of GeIl RAM and replaced the current 3gb?

    - I looked at T9300 vs T5450 but I would appreciate a round up of performance in the Gateway... I read 2 reviews... but they were kind of brief

    Thank you

He expects the world to revolve around him and bend to his every whim. Despite all claims to the contrary I don't think he bothers using the search function other than to skim through the results for a few seconds before ADD stops him from reading further.

Hasn't his original question already been answered? He's picked his toy but hasn't got a delivery. He should by now have an idea of how much power the toy has relative to other systems.

My god, had no idea this thread was still going!? Beatsiz, be patient, you're very lucky! Gateway don't sell over here in Australia anymore. You're getting a decent, quick machine for about a third of the cost of mine. If Gateway still sold machines out here, I might have gone with one of those!

You've ordered your machine, all the questions you're now asking can easily be searched. No need to post anymore in this thread! Play around with the machine for a week or so, then let the Gateway people know how you're finding the machine. If you're getting seriously frustrated by the delivery delay, just think of how much money you've saved, should be more than enough reason to endure the wait :)

Now go away and play Crysis. No need to share your "tortuous" experiences waiting for new laptops. Any further questions on this thread are completely pointless and are better served in the Gateway owners forum.

I am currently enjoying Crysis on high (except models on medium... cant change it)

Average between 20 and 25 low of 16 and high of 40+
This is with STOCK drivers... still all the bloatware on this thing...

    I love it :D

I do have one problem though

    I cant instal the Sandbox2
It says error 1304 and then I unclick READ ONLY on the Bin32 folder... and the problem still persists

Congrats on the system, you finally got it. I recommend looking in the Gateway forum (there is an owner's lounge there for your laptop) and seeing if you can find any info on those errors.

Don't forget to tune up your system:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166532
. . . and install new video drivers using the gaming sticky.

Also use this tweak guide to optimize Crysis:
    http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html

FINALLY, don't forget to do both a Google search and an NBR forum search before you ask questions, most likely you will find an answer to what you are looking for. And most likely searching is faster.

    ONE last question

I have the 167.45 drivers downloaded... I dont know how to instal them...

I searched on NBR but most of the installations are for SLI in M1730 and others are just for what drivers to get...
And on google it brings me right back to this post :D

    are the 167.45 the best?

I wonder if this question will lead to him getting banned :D

Anyway, download 167.45 drivers, then download the inf file into a same directory called 'nvdia167.45drivers', and when it ask to overwrite, click yes, then double click on setup. Or go to device manager and under video card, right click update, and point it to 'nvdia167.45drivers'.

If that was too hard to understand, ever forget about doing this. Instead go to Windows Update and get their old but workable drivers.

Chaz has a great guide right here for removing, updating and installing new vid card drivers. : http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=204425&highlight=169.09 . Somehow, I don't think you searched very hard. I'm also starting to wonder how you survived so long in the PC world.

Maybe if you all stopped spoonfeeding him answers he would search for them himself.

Ok... I try doing this but it says "vista has determined you already have the best drivers blablabla"

    OR

When I try to instal it loads and the window magically dissapears and nothing happens

SORRY I just read on LV2G you must reboot... I will... if it still says 8800M GT then there still is a problem...

EDIT: It still says 8800M GT...

Read the instructions on laptopvideo2go, lots of users here do it so why not you? They do have a section on their webpage telling newbies how to install drivers.

I will say this one last time

I followed directions, put in the INF file

Let the installer go, reboot... NOTHING

I manually pointed out the 167.45 driver folder... said Vista determined you have the latest drivers...
AND I tried with right click and w.e but it said installing... and nothing happened after... I rebooted... NOTHING

I followed all steps, and already read that post and some others

There's not much to it. Replace the INF and run the setup. If that doesn't work you either messed up, or your computer just hates you.

If the install went fine and it told you to reboot it should be installed.
