Will an older 2.5" hdd adapter from a 16f3 work with the new 16f4? They changed the connector to accomodate one more sata channel but did the pinout remain the same? That mSATA adapter is not convincing me. It would confine future SSD upgrades to mSATA form factors.
mSATA drives just can't reach normal 2.5" SSD speeds (yet) :p

NDA, sorry I can't reveal that sort of info, I think everyone knows that MSI will be using the 780M by now but that's as far as I can go.

I'd like to know what Haswell they were using. Some of those tests are compared to a 680m with a lowly 3610qm, so might be ever so slightly skewed if its a Haswell XM. Of course, it might not be a huge variance, but still, not quite apples to apples in my eyes.

Agreed, but we at least know now what to expect. It might be worth upgrading afterall, but this depends on how well it overclocks, at least for me. I don't want a card that can barely overclock.

I agree to a point. At least here they describe exactly what systems they're using.

I should have a 780m machine here shortly too. :) I'm all geared up and ready to roar.

The biggest difference will be how it manages overclocking. Boost 2.0 sounds great and all, but so far it seems to intefere with any amount of overclock.

What I would like is for some kind soul to donate me a pair of 780m's so that I can compare/bench in a controlled environment against my 680m's. Donations welcomed LOL :D

Note: I said donate, not swap my kidneys out to cover the cost. :p

That's not right (for the 7970m) either. Look at the original source, Cloud included some numbers for the 670mx in the 7970m numbers.

    I double, triple checked and 67.7 x 1.2585 = 85.2, so 25.85% it is!

F1 and Max Payne 3 don't have any 7970m data.

In any case it's 25-30% faster than stock. Question is how far can it overclock on stock voltage?

When you sum up all percentages for each gpu and divide them by the number of games tested (680m - 28 games, 7970m - 26 games) you come up with 29.6% for the 680m and 32.5% for the 7970m. We should redo it once full OC potential is reached for the 780m ;)
Difference won't be much (I estimate around 15-16% average) but we'll se some great fps numbers from demanding games :D
Anyway let's stop arguing who's got the bigger guns. It's not beneficial for neither party ;)

Have fun Meaker overclocking to 4.9GHz. I could barely manage 4GHz with the stock cooling.

I agree. This still strikes me as odd. They don't give you a large enough power supply so we tout it as a feature to destroy your battery. mmmkay. If it can really not pull more than 20-25W off battery peak anyhow, then why not just offer a larger PSU? It makes ZERO sense.

This is why MSI will win the single card competition this year. Samsung FC03, rated for 1500mhz as opposed to the 1250mhz of the other ones we have seen.

This means all MSI cards should reach 1700-1750mhz memory clocks and the other brands will get to 1450-1500.

wow well that explains why we saw this memory overclock earlier from a GT70. It ran at 1750MHz. :D
Well done MSI. Another good point why I might buy MSI this time too

I can`t wait to see what you are able to do with this beast. After all, you managed to OC the 680M the most in this forum if I remember correctly.

BTW, is that a picture you have taken? You have 780M in your possession right now? :)

GPU clock at 1200MHz!? How much voltage does that require and what temps, holy cow.

And I think Meaker's was fastest in the world actually, at least at one point. I can't wait to see what Meaker can do, and see a real pro at work! And you can finally reveal the MSI secret about the vRAM. ;)

That was likely just moving the slider, but the ram is going to be about right since that is what the 690 could do.

For now the 780M will rule the roost in 3dmark firestrike extreme but may have to wait for some core tweaking for 11 P scores since they dont care about memory clocks.
