Enduro and Optimus is not going away. I'd be surprised if any notebook has dedicated switch. Intel, AMD, Nvidia and Microsoft all agree seamless switchable is the best solution. I suspect AW only had that because too lazy to update their machine.

Isn't it an advantage from a design perspective? It's probably cheaper to do a muxless design, but other than that it benefits the consumer for AW to leave it how it is. I wish our laptops had that feature.

Lol this is mainly why I finally decided to wait ~4 months for the new 8970m and Intel CPUs with the mere hope that clevo will implement this feature in their next model.

But if the EM series and other laptops didn't stick with this design, we probably wouldn't have seen the glorious effects of 12.11.

I admire your optimism :D but I doubt it'll happen. Hopefully AMD will get Enduro to the point where Optimus is so the performance loss is negligible.

It won't be a Clevo without crappy audio lol

This is why I chose to purchase from Mythlogic! I can always fall back on that Phoneix upgrade plan if I feel the itch to get something new without all the hassle of trying to sell my old one. Not only did I get a top notch laptop that runs flawlessly save the driver issues on the 7970m that are slowly working themselves out.... but I get a huge piece of mind along with it. Honestly, if you really crunch the numbers I think you can come out further ahead with them even though you do pay a smidge more for the system up front.

What would you rather have? Cheap price and wondering about the future? Or a few extra dollars and being 100% confident you have someone that will always take care of you? And I have had to take advantage of the awesome service once already!

I dunno, basically they are still charging you for components and shipping and just doing the labor for you. If you're not comfortable fussing with computer components, then I guess it would be good peace of mind. Mythlogic do offer that level of confidence, however, since they personally manage service and upgrades for your system. I wouldn't be wondering about the future because I have a two year warranty. Beyond that, I'll be making upgrades as I see fit. After two years I expect I'll likely want a whole new machine with the new tech, etc. Although it's already been about 6 months since I've owned my NP9150 and zero regrets and no concerns about performance whatsoever. I can easily see me getting two years out of this, possibly with a GPU and/or CPU upgrade to stretch it to 3. As long as the keyboard and other components hold up and God forbid, no "accidents".

My reasoning for not using Mythlogic was price, already about $300 more expensive on the build I had, not to mention I live in Michigan so another 6% ~ $100 on top of that. That $400 will easily pay for a new motherboard, or even most of an upgrade to a new video card in the future.

Mythlogic definitely gives you some peace of mind.

But I also believe if I wanted to upgrade in 2 years rather than get a new system, LPC-Digital will help to find me a good price on the hardware.

That too. IMHO, 2 years is a realistic time frame to own a gaming laptop, and anything above that is bonus. If I can upgrade, great. If not, well then time to sell and buy new.
