I know that, but that's for OpenGL. Actually I just figured this out myself. If you want to enable triple buffering in D3D (as well as force vsync), it can be done using profiles created with D3DOverrider, a utility bundled with rivatuner. I couldn't get rivatuner to recognize my drivers, but the utility itself works fantastically. For those who don't know, TB allows you to enable vsync without much of a performance hit, if you vsync with DB then you'll see 60->30->60 fps which is awful.
-
Does anyone know how to change the language settings to English? Windows update installed a newer version of the drivers by itself and now the menu is all in Japanese (my regional settings are in japanese)
-
The language is set to whatever your regional language is, mine is korean so everything is korean. You have to change your regional language back.

is it new driver????!!!!!! -
What is this..a beta..?
EDIT: It seems that it's for Intel Desktop Boards.. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...tID=36&DwnldID=16168&agr=N&lang=eng&PrdMap=36
Just tried it on my xp sp3, its working
Latest official driver: 14.34.0.4943
The driver provided by @Torang: Driver Revision: PV 14.34.3.4957
ReadMe.txt
No Release Notes...(yet?) -
Anything for vista?
-
There is a new Vista driver aswell but look at the readme.txt.. no GL960 or GM965 there..
-
Nah, its for every chipset that is supported by the drivers. Intel is inconsistent in putting their driver releases, one they they might release in their desktop board page, or another day it might be introduced in the main page.
14.34.3 must be the next official driver in the line.
XP driver has the equivalent 4-series only driver, and its 14.34.2. 14.34.3 is the version that supports the G965/GM965 and the 3-series too. I think the reason for 4-series chipset only driver is for testing purposes for mobo manufacturers. The chipsets will be introduced in matter of months but its still not here.
According to an Intel guy, 15.9.1 will be a bug fix driver, and 15.9.2 will be what he calls an "super-bug fix" driver. Although reports are it still doesn't fix everything, it still sounds good
.
So as far as I understand it:
From the naming 14.34.3 for example, the 2nd number(.34) is for indicating new features, and the third and last number(.3) is for indicating support for new chipsets/bug fixes. The first number(14) is the OS. -
Just tried might & magic dark messiah on the x3100 yesterday. I set everything to low at 800x600 expecting the worst. Surprisingly it ran at a playable framerate in xp. 17fpsmin 28fps avg. In vista everything is much slower. i got like 10fps min. Not playable. Huge difference between the os.
HL2 demo runs amazingly well on this igp. again xp is faster than vista by about 25%. Min 22fps in xp vs 17fps in the big outdoor area outside the station. Similar result in bf2 and fear.
cod2 actually ran better in vista. spore crashes in xp.
It feels like the drivers are still half done. I wouldn't be surprised to see another 20-30% improvement in performance with an optimized driver. The hardware still has more to deliver. -
Funny, from desktop G965 user forum, the difference between Vista and XP was minimal, if not better on Vista.
I think the difference is just laptops have more limitations(like what you can set in BIOS for DVMT settings) and depending on the manufacturer, the specifications are different between each other, they might have little modifications on the drivers, and that may further hamper performance.
I'd want a big name reviewer to test this out(with clean format etc) but I'd never get to see it. -
I think we all hope the same thing, JH911. It's obvious the power is there, just try UT2004 or Far Cry- but it's too inconsistent with it's performance across the board due to bugs. Never thought I'd see the day where I could play UT2004 and HL2 but not HL
-
I'm not a big name reviewer, what I was thinking to do this...Whenever my new Hitachi 320gb 5400rpm arrive, I'm planning to dual-boot Vista/XP, run 3Dmark05/3Dmark06 at 640x480, 1024x758 and 1280x800 in each OS(xp sp2 and vista without sp1), then do the same tests with xp sp3 and vista sp1..I was thinking to download some demos and test too..Will try to make screenshots and all..
I hope the drive arrives soon.. -
lolx assassin creed can run with the new driver on xp but the fps very low even on lowest setting.haha atleast it run this time
-
We need more speed badly!
Why intel IGPs are the only graphic chips without overclocking?! -
Ok gonna try Far Cry next. What kind of fps are you getting in UT2004 at what settings?
One thing i find about the x3100. It's fill rate seems quite decent. I was able to turn up texture detail on quite a number of games and the fps drop is minimal or none. model detail/ geometry detail seemed to be more limiting. -
That´s because most things are done by the CPU itself and if you own a good C2D or even a Quad Core then resolution upgrade will have "minimal" impact. Most people can report that a lot of games run more or less at same fps at 640x480 and 800x600.
Nevertheless I still think X3100 has a lot of juice to give if:
- drivers were optimized for each game (as competition)
- drivers were optimized even further for X3100 / X4500 hardware
- drivers were optimized even further to assign tasks better done by X3100 and better done by the CPU present making use of the dual channel and C2D power
If these 3 points were optimized *and* if a overclocking app appeared perhaps we could see improvements between 30-50% (or even more).
@IntelUser: is there any way to overclock X3100 IGP? -
how much better will the new x3500 or was it x3400 be.and when will we start seeing in laptops
-
dont u mean the X4500? It wont be much better i saw they tested it on 3dmark and got like 6xx score. the Radeon 3200 is the way to go
-
Te be honest most non-IGP cards don´t give much of a penalty on battery unless they are at full speed.
I only bought a X3100-based laptop because the brand did not had a 12" laptop with a ATI/NVIDIA solution and I really thought Intel improved a lot.
My old laptop with a ATI GPU could underclock up to 80MHz GPU + 200MHz DDR Memory (graphic) and when on "Power Saver" it would also turn voltage pretty low. At 80/100 graphics were more than enough for normal Windows use and non-HD video and battery would last a lot! When I need I could also overclock for 500MHz GPU + 1250 MHz DDR and then I could play 95% of all games at 1024x768 or even 1280x800.
With this X3100 consumption is not that low (on Power Saver is not lower than my ATI at 80/200 I´m sure as ATI + Centrino 1.6, battery would go for 4 - 4.30h!) but it never reaches the same 3D power as a ATI at full speed (not even closer), so:
if you can buy a Nvidia/ATI-based laptop and if you need more battery underclock the graphics. You´ll get the same amount as a IGP one that does not allow you to make optimum settings and is really 3D underpowered and has low compatibility. I really miss underclock (to have more battery) and overclock + great drivers (to have more 3D power) capabilities... -
textures, model detail, world detail max, everything normal and res 800 600
vsync on, usually between 40-60 fps (capped). -
I would never recommend OC'ing an IGP, as most don't have a temp monitor on them, so you are looking at some serious danger.
-
Why people keep not recommending OC on IGP/Laptops? If you OC and the chip doesn´t handle it will crash not burn (unless you changed the voltage more than 20-25% instead of the speed and even then it would crash).
Every modern chips leak electrons when too high and never reach (without crashing) near a damaging temperature/voltage. Give me a X3100 OC app please -
That assumption fried a lot of geforce series cards over the years.
-
So any news on drivers, its been a LONG while now, 2 months and nothing
-
Exactly. Just because it only "crashes", doesn't mean you're not doing any damage.
-
It was not that assumption, it was the assumption of ignorant people who modded the voltage without knowing what they were doing. It´s the same as on cars: if you know how far you can go and do things carefully you have no problems.
If you OC in small steps and do no raise voltage more than 10-15% than there will be a time 3D graphics start to be rubbish or the PC will freeze. That time you have to go back and no damage was done. On the other hand if you raise the voltage 50% + doble the frequency then you are pushing your luck big time. It´s all about knowledge.
I don´t understand Intel´s webpage. Yesterday it was "15.9" and today it is "15.9.17xx" (which are the same as before). -
Just the same with Intel's XP driver, the last time I saw was 14.35, and now they change to 14.34.14xxx, and they are the same also.
I have tried some other games on the Intel X3100:
Prince of Persia WW runs at a playable framerate (24 avg) at medium setting, 800x600x16, windows XP
Titan Quest i have made some tweak (change the video mode to openGL and disable shadow) in vista and now it has become less choppy alot
Warriors Orochi is pretty good with avg 35 - 40fps with lowest setting in XP.
HL2 and Counter strike source I've made a test with most setting to HIGH and I've got 23.45 FPS in XP. CS.S only unplayable in some level like DE_DUST -
There is no 14.35 yet, trust me I check every day
-
Hey all, just ordered an HP 6710b.
Comes with a T8100, and 1 gig of RAM (going to upgrade to 4), both XP and Vista install disks, and surprise surprise an x3100!
So I've heard a lot about how it's possible to run CoD4 on this card, and with the bash and slash config that should be definitely.
So the questions are, does Vista run CoD4 better? Or is it XP?
And are the latest drivers for either OS stable? Or do legacy drivers perform better when gaming?
Many thanks. -
It's possible to run CoD4 on an X3100. I can't speak for Vista (yet), but I run it on XP and get an average of about 20 fps (it's high when you're indoors, but take a step outside and it drops down to about 15-20). It's acceptable if you're really not expecting much.
From my experience, bash and slash configs haven't really done anything to help performance wise. Yeah, they get rid of all the extra junk, but they don't increase you're fps too much (in fact, on maps like wet work and bloc where there's a lot of precipitation, they actually make it worse. I never got above 15 fps on those maps when I used the bash and slash configs. I usually got around 10.)
This is a very interesting thread btw. I know I've never posted anything before, but I've read bits and pieces of it. Definitely a fun read.

Hey,
I am trying to run Virtua Tennis 3 on my laptop. X3100 graphics (Drivers :- http://downloadcenter.intel.com/fil...+32-bit+version&lang=eng&strOSs=153&submit=Go! , 15.9.1472), 1GB RAM, Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.60GHz.
965 Chipset.
The gameplay is VERY VERY slow. It lags dramatically.
I don't know why this problem is occuring. I read that people are playing COD4 at about 15-20fps with this chipset. Please help me. Thanks!
PS - Running Vista Home Basic. -
I was wondering how you changed video mode to OpenGl. Im also trying to optimize Titan quest for the x3100. Would help a lot!
-
Hey guys...i've got some weird problem with my t61.
I dont know if it's becuase of the driver or something, but every once in a while a red pixel followed by two black ones appear near the top left corner of my scrren, sometimes right to the corner, sometimes under it.
At first i thought it might be just some burnt pixels, but those pixels tend to disappear, and reappear some hours later, so i geuss it's not that...
Then i thought it might be connected to the grapich card/driver, or some really weird memory leak, but if i logged off and logged back on, it would disappear, and if, for example, i took an icon and put on that pixel, it would disappear also, so im starting to suspect that the problem is windows related... any ideas ? thanks ahead -
what am i doing wrong? -
can someone help me? i am still new at this...
i am trying to find the LATEST version of this intel x3100 driver? link?
and... will the driver in ENGLISH work on a WINDOWS XP HOME in PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE?
i am not sure if drivers have to be in the same language as the operation system?!
thank you all in advance. -
Are you using Vista 64? I've never seen that error from intel's drivers on Vista 32, 64 might require them to be digitally signed.
-
i have the same error like blinsama.
-
blinsama & bosser, this happened on a lot of notebooks.
get the zip version of the drivers and install with the update driver option in device manager.
having done this once, on subsequent installs you should be able to use the EXE version if you wish.
Or if your using vista64, then yes, all vista64 device drivers have to be signed. -
ill try that method. ill give my feedback later. tnx!!
-
did'nt work. i still get that message
-
uh.. uninstall all the graphics drivers that came with your laptop and run the exe
anyone try AOEIII ? -
im using that, basically all im trying to do is run WoW on my laptop, i dont need 50fps or anything, just something decent so i can grind and quest, i know fps will drop to about 5 at shatt or something, but just something playable. -
installed it successfully but when i open warcraft then create a game/ it hangs
help!!!
anyway im using windows xp sp3 -
Interesting, you have the exact same system specs as my lenovo
The WoW thing has been covered in this thread and others in this forum, try searching for it. -
anybody ?
-
Use the zip file and follow the instructions. Don't use the .exe file.
I had the same problem when I first installed the new ones from intel.
After that, you should be able to use the exe's later on. -
I´ve just tested 3DMark 06 with official 15.9 drivers and I had:
- 704 3DMarks (default settings, 1024x768)
- 221 SM2.0 / 272 SM3.0 / 1447 CPU
System:
- MSI PR200 laptop: Core 2 Duo T7100 (1.8GHz, 800 bus)
- X3100 with 15.9 drivers set to 3xxMb of memory
- 2Gb RAM 667MHz (2x 1Gb)
- 160Gb 5400rpm HDD SATA
- Windows Vista SP1 32-bit
update: I was running emule while I tested
Is it good or bad
Is it ill?
-
That's pretty good I think. With a T5550 w/ 667 bus I got something like 564.
-
How to change the memory size on x3100?
