Precision GPU upgradeability has been a cluster**** too since they moved from MXM to DGFF.

Nvidia don't force Dell to change their proprietary connector for the DGFF GPU to the MB or how the cards shape is designed to fit into their laptop chassis. Nvidia can demand how the signal routing/power delivery has to be for the graphics PCB but thats another animal. But Dell can easily make new cards within same DGFF shape and offer new heatsink if the screw mounting is changed from one gen to next gen cards due nvidias guidelines for vram placement vs the core. If you looked on Azors talk about upgredability for the Area models in his promo videos he said Dell have made room for even bigger cards in this chassis if this would happen later.
But what did you expect from a company that was one of the biggest advocates for soldered Cpu, Gpu, ram and wifi cards while other OEMs stopped at soldered on the Cpu and Gpu in their laptops.

You need text to post a meme it seems; that requirement is now met.

Looks like someone got a little too angry at the gimped 3070 in this model, can't really blame the owner though.
It seems like the owner took a gun to the laptop, not the most impressive way to kill a laptop, but definitely a funny one to see -
It looks more like a drill bit hole. I would think there would be more exit trauma for something that small.

I've seen this kind of thing before where if something was recalled or requested by the manufacturer to dispose of instead of selling it, they required proof that you destroyed it, hence something like this with a photo. But really not sure what's going on here.

A debate on the legitimacy of an alleged gunshot wound to a laptop. Didn't see that coming.

On their X15 they decided to gimp the ports
They did a good job with the X17 though imo

Its amusing to see Apple goes the opposite way of DELL Alienware and start offer more I/O ports. Who could imagine this a few years ago
MacBook Pro 2021 looks like the biggest upgrade in a decade — here's why
MacBook Pro 2021: More ports, MagSafe returns
I'm also very encouraged by the reports that Apple will offering more ports for the MacBook Pro 2021. These will apparently include an HDMI port, an Ethernet port and a high-speed UHS-II SD Card reader. -

Alienware could and should be the prosumer workstation line but they keep trying to shove it down market to appeal to the youths who cant afford to buy a $3200 laptop and get an XPS instead lol. Fixing the Alienware brand is easy and their choice of the Area51 shows their poor thinking and are using it as an excuse when all of their laptops should look like that.
AW Should be:
DTR Replacements
Made from some form of exotic material, ie magnesium, carbon fiber etc. *NO PLASTIC*
Must support ECC Xeons
Zero fan operation for all but rendering/gaming
Include express card or Smart Card readers
Include NFC
Ideally MXM expansion
Modular parts for easy repair / expansion (ie 4 SODIMM slots)
100MAH batteries minimum
Mux Switch
10G Support
Include an updated brocade cable with full PCI-E 16X to replace the AGA for actual SAN / GPU expansion/ 100G
Also for "the youths" they could do stupid special editions like ones made completely of sapphire glass or heatsinks made of solid silver etc etc.
For the record I would pay 3k-4k for this and I suspect all the Clevo users here would bail if AW made anything close to this. While I give Apple some credit Cook is just Ballmer 2.0 and is running the company into the ground with their so called "ARM" chips which are really just window dressing on a cellphone chip. The I/O is terrible and isn't yet differentiated from a tablet to be worth purchasing. When they start producing *real* 45-125W SOCs then I'll change my mind.Last edited: Jul 17, 2021
