There's variety in men. For every Brad Pitt, there's a Steve Buscemi. For every Orlando Bloom, there's a Danny DeVito. This tells young boys that while it's nice to be good-looking, it's not the only way to have worth in society.
For girls, there are no female Steve Buscemis or Danny DeVitos. Games and movies have never seen a female Tyrion Lannister or J.R. Martinez. The ONLY female protagonists in movies, video games, etc are hotties. Don't you see how that can have an effect on girls' self-image that just isn't there for guys, because we have diversity in our role models?
I never said it had to be an either-or thing. Having realistic role models for both genders, not just guys, doesn't take resources away from graphics or testing, does it?

Besides, what's the demographic for these kinds of games? Males, ages 18-35. Why do you think Twilight is so popular with girls? The dudes and the romance, that's what they like. Men like hot women, women like men with big wallets. -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
There is something that is a far worse source of objectification and degradation to women that IMO is much much worse and it's called Rap Music. This making female characters secksy thing is because males are the most targeted segment for gaming. There are target segments for every product like HT pointed out Twilight targets females that wish they had/want/like chiseled bodied men.(Same thing as this)

...well can we at least all agree that, in the ME3 demo, Captain Anderson runs like an idiot?

Theses charactors are not real, somebody actually draws them (or whatever its called). I have never met a single person in real life that looked like one of these cartoon charactors. Geez, would anyone ever want to run into Rex.
As for twilight, my kid dragged me to it, and I thought it was the worset vampire movie ever. Vampires in the DAYLIGHT-. Long live TRUEBLOOD, and movies like UNDERWORLD for vampires.

I think worst Vampire Hunter movie might go to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Hey everyone, I found where they got the movement model for Captain Anderson running!

bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
Played through the demo twice and was pretty impressed(other then the player textures). Can't wait for march 6th
-
3 more weeks

I have the demo downloaded, but now think I'll just skip it and wait for the full game.
-
still going on about it. This is no longer a thread about the demo.
-
Demo multi-player time!

I have a hard time not only listening but understanding people who say "I want this VG to be realistic" OK great...I understand but isn't real life "Real" enough for you? idgi
I may sound superficial but I really don't care. I'm not going to feel obligated to feel a certain way because that is how certain members of society feel. That trendy type of mentality is really getting boring

Just played the multiplayer.
First time I've ever seen an online mode look better than the singeplayer. It's also a really, really good version of Horde but with only 10 waves which make it perfect for 20 minute bursts.
I'm shocked. Super addictive levelling up system as well for all the classes in game. Sure, people who play longer have a distinct advantage but at least you get more than weapons/perks and attachments. Full progression system from the singeplayer. -

Okokok I cave. I suppose ill check it out later tonight -
According to Penny Arcade, the multiplayer is AWESOME. They actually recommend against playing the SP, as it's exactly what you'd expect, and you're just going to have to play through it again when you get the game for real.

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I played the singleplayer and it was pretty good. Yes they still need to work on player textures but compared to the first Mass Effect, they have improved textures and graphics in general by a considerable mile. Mass Effect 1 compared to 3 looks like it was made from Play-Doh. -
-
Whoa, ME3 has multiplayer?!?
That settles it, I demand a Skyrim multiplayer NAOW!
Seriously though, SP will be an RPG. Multiplayer gameplay will be [as others have pointed out] very similar to Gears of War. -
I could see myself doing the traditional mode for the first couple run-throughs (one as a Paragon, one as a Renegade), then doing action mode as I try out every class. -

One of the devs tweeted that HD textures, which aren't in the demo, will be present in the retail release.
p.s. - your MP progress does not carry over to the full game, so don't bother grinding out levels yet -
In fact, I'd say it feels more like an RPG than ME2 did, and the shooting is better. When I said that the MP looks better, I meant graphically!
Guess I might give Adept a try on the full game and stick with levelling my vanguard for now. -

I dont care if my progress wipes, im having too much fun. -
Demo is pretty awesome. Graphics are phenomenal. Guess I'll go back and play Mass Effect 2 now
I love these kinds of environments and stories. Only issue I have is FOV, better be able to adjust that or I'm going to puke all over my computer, and improved combat system. I was killed because I had cover but wouldn't attack an enemy right next to me despite fervently left clicking, space bar, etc
BTW, what did you make your character look like?
-
LMAO, your Sheperad looks like a vampire -
Like Kate Beckinsale!
Except with Red hair and green eyes instead of black hair and blue eyes.
-
with twice the fear
I played a little bit to see how the multiplayer goes.
It's ok ... it's like horde mode in gears of war except I totally forgot how it feel like how to manually aim with melee. -
The graphics actually looked horrible but I was too excited about playing the demo to really care at the time. But after playing it a couple more times its quite obvious that it doesn't seem to have improved any.
Capt Anderson just seemed weird in those opening scenes. Don't know was going on there.
I know I'm gonna hate James Vega. But hopefully he'll be better than stupid Jacob Taylor.
I know I'm gonna hate the multiplayer aspect of it. It feels like I'm gonna be forced to play it in order to make sure that I actually do save the galaxy.... -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
James Vega reminds me of Jersey Shore for some reason... -
-
Oh yeah I forgot, when I got my hardcopy of BF3:LE, it came with a code for exclusive early access mass effect 3 multiplayer demo. Boy, that was useless lol.

ME3 multiplayer is the most fun I've had playing multiplayer since college. And I graduated college in 2003.
-
Mad fun though. -
To access your kingdoms of Amalour set you will need to log into your social.bioware.com account and click on the registered game content and you'll see the armor set for Mass Effect 3.
I loved the demo, can't wait till March 6th. Thank god for Amazon prime because you get free shipping for release date deliveries. -
Never played a Mass Effect game and I'm tempted to try it. How long is the demo going to be going on for?
-
Just finished SP portion of the demo and I thought it was the same as ME2. They just added one or two more powers for each class and slightly adjusted how upgrades were done. Kinda liked the new upgrade system as it was simpler and easier to understand. Will try MP portion later. Since I am a ME series fan, I might end up buying it if it comes to Steam.
-
I have to agree, this multiplayer is pretty fun. I have to wonder if it will stay active and fresh. I'm guessing they will add multiple modes and many more maps, but this is pretty fun right now. The addition of MP mode is defenitely welcome in this case, and I really like the improved graphics. Now, to find a way to not support Origin... retail? or discount cd key?
-
SomeRandomDude Notebook Evangelist
The multiplayer lacks some things, like the number of guys per wave (a breakdown per enemy type would also be pretty cool). And the kills should be on the upper right corner, not the lower.
-
But buying an EA game "without supporting Origin" is nonsensical, as Origin is just a service offered by EA. It's like trying to play World of Warcraft without supporting Battle.net. -
It gets kinda boring too. The same thing over and over again.
-
I've got a human engineer who specializes in drones, incinerate, and scoped pistols, and I'm loving it.
